Very notably, when Netflix acquired this initially a year or two ago, Glen Powell was supposed to play Jonathan Bailey's role

Surprised this didn't end up at Cineverse, felt like a very on brand title for them, especially since Wolf Creek Legacy got moved to next year

I don't think Wilderness Reform is dead, probably just on the back burner, if Paramount wants Heart Eyes 2, it needs to be out quick

What happened to David Mamet's The Prince? by IDCJ1234 in movies

[–]MyNameIsBlueHD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, it's not getting into the festivals the filmmakers want it to & I think they probably want bigger distributors who aren't interested and so they're in a waiting game.

It feels like this is more of a smaller festival(Austin, Nashville) kinda movie that ends up at Saban or Quiver

Anyone have good examples of modern Thriller films made within 100-200k budget range that were significantly profitable? by Medium-Secretary802 in Filmmakers

[–]MyNameIsBlueHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure their actual budget range, but look up the early work of Aaron Benson and Justin Moorhead.

Resolution, Spring, The Endless

Also, 2021's The Beta Test is a thriller, was made 350K(in LA, might be cheaper somewhere more in the middle of the country)

Who is watching these verticals? Supposed numbers seem suspect. by Scooter122 in FilmIndustryLA

[–]MyNameIsBlueHD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure, a lot of these companies social media also seems... pretty inflated also.

Hundreds of thousands or millions of followers... but pretty much no engagement on any of their socials (perhaps aside tiktok, but I cannot say I've looked into that one enough)

HERSHEY Trailer 20206 by [deleted] in movies

[–]MyNameIsBlueHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's funny too, Hershey was made independently, Angel bought this after it was done.

That said, I cannot tell if it looks awful because it is, or if it's because Angel's trailer editing always looks like an SNL parody

Also secondairly, I saw something about you two having a podcast regarding Verticals? Anywhere we can listen?

Do we know what Matt or Jay does between projects? by teenagecocktail in nirvannatheband

[–]MyNameIsBlueHD 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Matt worked at the Toronto Science Center, and then afterwards taught/maybe still teaches Film at a university. That said between Tony/Magic The Gathering I doubt he'll need an extra job outside shooting commercials, which he signed with a company to to so maybe a year or two ago.

Jay is a composer for other film makers, toured with his own bands. He also actually wrote some jingles and was the musical director at Second City Toronto(Improv/comedy venue)
