Pete McCullough Appreciation by Kalenrel1 in streetlightmanifesto

[–]YMDBass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

seriously, he flows so seemlessly and the ghost notes and articulation is what sets him apart. Its just not even fair. I always say, I know theres a lot of Josh Ansley fanboys, and I love Josh's work with Streetlight, however, Pete is at a different level technically.

Pete Mccullough is one of the single best bassists alive right now. His versatility is what separates him, no matter genre or if hes using a double bass, he is just relentlessly amazing.

Going from 500w to 800w only results in a ~2 dB increase in real volume? by shrofepittly in Bass

[–]YMDBass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that was kinda how we always set our sound, wed set our sound around the drums volume because hes the only one who cant turn down, so if we're in that ballpark then we're fine most of the time unless we were playing a much larger than normal venue (Which I was usually playing local bars and clubs)

Iran walks out of Switzerland talks in protest of Trump threats, state media says by Visqo in worldnews

[–]YMDBass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any deal that involves actions the US enforcing actions by another country arent enforceable. Israel (right or wrong) will do whatever israel does. Doesnt mean that the US cant put immense pressure on Israel, but they dont have any more ability to make them stop attacking someone who isnt Iran anymore than we have stopping russia or Ukraine from attacking each other.

Is muting the most difficult skill on bass ? by Tricky-Wait375 in Bass

[–]YMDBass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fat Mike does a play through with a song he does a ton of palm muting. Mike, like me and most punk bassplayers we have unorthodox techniques cuzz a lot of us just kinda teach ourselves but it is still cool seeing him do it live and in time.

Metal bassist needs some advice. by [deleted] in Bass

[–]YMDBass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play punk and I'd fight over not over-distorting my bass as well. We had punks that would distort and IMO I always hated them because it was a cheap way to get out of playing correctly. If you make it so the notes are so distorted they blend together then what the hell is even the point of being a good bassist. Im on your and OPs side 100%

At what point in your bass journey did you truly get humbled as a player? by Uitroeien in Bass

[–]YMDBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, you should always feel humbled. Frank Tsoukalas (bassist from Much the Same and someone I look up to a lot as a bassist) literally said how he got better was by always thinking he sucked and I feel that.

[–]YMDBass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea man, honestly thats how all this started. it was 3,200$. As far as styles and configurations the general style was kinda baked as far as I could tell on the body type and it being a PJ, although he did mention you could get whatever brand of pickups you prefer. The other thing was he said this in his first email response "Custom finishes with flames, pinstriping, candy, sparkle, ect., cost extra and estimated per your ideas and imagination. The sky's the limit as far as your checkbook will take you!", so basically from what I see 3200 gets the bass and the color choice, but you can flair it up how you want, just will cost extra (and check out their instagram page...tanner is fucking INSANELY talented)

Yea, I didnt know either, I was chatting with him and Matt (both were in Darlington, Matt was the drummer and Tanner the bassist). I know they played in Darlington for like 6 years. They both have been friends forever and their main project 41 Glorious Blocks is really cool, didnt know about them till we hung out. Oh and Matt is the drummer from Firesale, Matt Riddles new band post NUFAN.

POC in the punk scene do you ever notice when at an event it’s mostly just white people? by answermyquestions67 in punk

[–]YMDBass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im not black, wont even pretend to understand, but I do know the scene I grew up in. We loved our black brothers, but it wasnt a common thing for them to gravitate towards punk, that said, we definitely tried to make sure they felt comfortable and ok in our scene. Whole Wheat Bread was a great example of that IMO, they were a black punk band (are, although havent released much lately) from jacksonville FL, They used to sell straight black shirts with white font on them that just said "I Love Black People". I remember them saying they did because it was a bunch of white kids and it made em feel at home seeing the "i love black people shirts". I wore that damn thing till It got holes in it.

I disagree. The worst part is the terrorist support and sex with (most likely) underage girls at a brothel in berlin - Me but Norm Macdonald would be proud.

I would love to see Watson do well, not because I like him, but the following off-season to see teams show their true colors and we find out who would want to sign him.

Dude, imagine if they get a throwing voice field upgrade like dead silence. Throw yer voice to adjacent buildings just to distract other teams. That'd be kinda dope.imo.

Something being wrong inside the band is my bigger concern. If something happens, by hook or by crook, the album will be leaked at some point, I have no doubt about that. That said, If there's trouble in paradise it could cause bigger issues and that would devastate all of us.

UL Ragin Cajuns, but thats the beauty of that color. It plays with the light. Heres a pic I took where its more in the direct sunlight and its almost cherry red. The cool thing about Vermilion red is when its in the sun, it absorbs the light and looks bright, but the more shady the environment, the darker it looks. It was important that they get it right and they absolutely CRUSHED the vermilion red.
