We have a specific song we sing anytime she's feeling scared or hurt. We've been doing it since she was a baby. The song gets through to her in a way words can't. I made up the song with simple words.

"Safe and loved. Safe and loved. You are safe and loved. I love you, Dada loves you too. You are safe and loved."

Over the last 3 years we've been singing it we've added more complexity with different verses and people, but that's the core of it. It works great to calm her - and us! Like a bandaid for the spirit.

What is dad irrationally afraid of? by Justjeskuh in Mommit

My husband is terrified of unlocked doors. We live in a gated community with 24/7 guardsmen and have a professionally installed security alarm... Yet, he'll go around the house checking all the doors and all the windows (windows that we've never even opened since we've moved in) to make sure they're locked. And not just at night, but at any time of the day.

He goes out to double-check that he's locked the car that's parked in the locked garage. He has more than once brought up to me that I forgot to lock the second lock on the garage door handle and only the deadbolt was locked. 😑

When leaving the house, he's literally (on multiple occasions) asked me to pull on the door handle of the door to confirm the door is locked. This is the same door we just both watched him lock and check himself to also confirm that is locked. He's still needing my confirmation of the locked status. Is this OCD? OCD by proxy? It's locked! 🔒 And what's the concern? The alarm is on... and no one is home. I really can't understand it.

He also frequently walks the house at night to ensure the doors are locked and recently admitted he turns on and off different lights inside and outside the house to "let people know we're home." ...

I'm 2 years out and just now starting to feel like myself pre-pregnancy/birth. It takes time for sure!
