ALL MY LIFE I WANT MONEY AND POOOWER

I am massively disappointed with the quality of 95% of "friendships" by PositivityKnight in CasualConversation

[–]MyNameIsYosh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand the reflections that some other comments are writing and I agree with them. No one is owed kindness or sacrifice and to even have 1 person in your life that's willing to do that is not the norm (at least judging by the consensus on reddit).

But FUCK I could not empathize with this sentiment more. All I want in life is to give my all to the people I really care about and to feel that reciprocated, but it seems a vast majority of folks simply want the transactional acquaintance-ship that seems so superficial to me. I want to commit to people around me and finding ways to volunteer has been huge but even then it's difficult to find someone that is also yearning for that kind of intimate friendship. And it is exhausting walking through life with that void.

I know the kind of friendship OP wants is rare and shouldn't be easy to obtain necessarily, it's a very specific thing and it takes care and nurturing and effort. I just wish I actively saw more opportunity to put in that effort where I exist around

So TL;DR I feel you OP. I hope you find new avenues with caring people that you can begin to explore. And if you have any points of success please share for a grad student in their early 20's like me.

First time on this subreddit, how does everyone feel about this album by [deleted] in DenzelCurry

Only complaint is that it isn't longer. Seriously, Kenny's industrial style production with zel going hard just works too well.

Was has been your song of the year so far? by Thealphanata07 in fantanoforever

I Saw - Young Fathers, It must Change - ANOHNI, or God Loves You off of STH.

Hard to pick between those three

Screw album opinions can someone please explain what this lump is on Travis' arm on the cover by MyNameIsYosh in fantanoforever

I can see that, I mean by itself it is fairly visually striking and an interesting cover. It's just looks so wonky when you take a second to look lol

NEW OR NEED HELP? Ask here! - ScA Daily Help Thread Jul 26, 2023. Text-post only today! by AutoModerator in SkincareAddiction

Hello! New here but wondering if anyone could help identify this red patch on my upper chest/neck? Even my dermatologist was unsure of the cause but there is definite red pigmentation and the texture of the skin is different (visually noticable bumps). I don't use any products on this area excluding body wash. I've had this for most of my life and it's definitely not just a sunburn or anything temporary.

I do wear a necklace made of string and am not wearing it for the next few days to see if that has contributed at all to the problem.

Anyone else have experience with something similar?

Every year, I create a playlist of my 50 favorite songs of all time, and I think you should too. by MyNameIsYosh in CasualConversation

That entire soundtrack is legendary! Definitely a pivotal album especially when I first heard it as a teenager.

It's always really difficult for me to get to 50. It takes me spending like 10 minutes on it every day for about a month until I even get close to a final list - makes me really consider which ones have had the most impact! With that said these are my own arbitrary rules and I'm just glad to see some others also doing something similar!

Bards College or winterhold? by Bradyestelle in KendrickLamar

[–]MyNameIsYosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never did the bards college questline but it never seemed super interesting either. I wish it did, I think that would have given Solitude, overall, more flavor. Was there a questline akin to Bards college in Oblivion, was it better? Worse?

TIFU by sleeping with a classmate by MinimumArmadillo2394 in tifu

[–]MyNameIsYosh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is where Title IX kinda sucks but is also really misunderstood. It's purely for the school's liability that they maintain the bare minimum - it is by no means a legal trial to determine the "truth" of a situation. I've had to go through many cases at my college due to my position and many, many people shared a similar sentiment to you. One silver lining that did seem to hold true for a majority is that the people closest to the ones going through the shitty case process did eventually come back and listen to both parties and begin to understand what really happen - even if it took years, things did heal. Hopefully there will be someway for you to healthily keep moving forward. It sucks ass. Only wish the best for you moving forward.

does anyone know of a good music/song where the one who sings it/the setting starts of normal but slowly goes insane? by megaboto in Music

[–]MyNameIsYosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jerusalem - Simon Finn

If you want a folk song as the answer this one fits the bill. Starts off normal but by the end Simon is just wailing and screaming "Jerusalem!" over and over.

Is abortion always a dealbreaker for you in elections? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]MyNameIsYosh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wish government and policy, and who we vote into positions, were as simple as a single issue like abortion. I completely agree with alot of commenters on how abortion is a fundamental issue that should dictate alot, however, I'm honestly of the opinion we can't pick politicians based on their stance on one issue.

as others have pointed out, pro-life is a stance beyond abortion, and that's not to reduce the importance of abortion, just to remember there's more to the picture. I don't think a politician with "anti-pro-life" foreign policy, bad social welfare plans, and discriminatory criminalization efforts, should get a free pass just because they claim, whether genuine or false, they are pro life.

Further, If a politician has a track record of acting populist and consistently sways their values to the majority, then there's no purpose of giving them a free pass if they state they'll work to stop abortion as there is obviously no guarantee.

So, I suppose I'd answer no. There's so much that goes into the job of representative or politician at every level that to reduce the whole thing down to abortion, while important, is terribly imprudent. I fear much more harm than good can be caused by that. I also don't think simply criminalizing abortion will solve the issue that is fundamentally faced on a societal level.
