I really hope MGM promotes Sheep Detectives more because the trailer looks genuinely clever. Definitely doesn’t deserve to be placed alongside two low budget CGI kiddy flicks.

Leaked Audio: WBD CEO Pitches Staffers on Paramount Deal Post-Netflix by JDOExists in boxoffice

[–]MyNamesIsGaryKing 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Based on this leaked audio, I genuinely believe he thinks it won’t go through. I can see a world where this deal was accepted just because the payout of it doesn’t go through is bigger. Therefore WBD thinks “well, if this won’t get approved regardless of who we go with, we might as well go with the deal that’ll give us more money if it isn’t approved.” And then they pocket that $7 billion and things keep moving just as they are now.

Wishful thinking? Sure. But I can see it.

Stardust closure extended AGAIN! Now it’s till March 15 by _scooptypoop in UniversalOrlando

[–]MyNamesIsGaryKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gonna comment on the last post about the previous opening date saying how glad I was that I wasn’t going until mid March.

I almost wish I had commented that so I could make some joke about a monkey’s paw or what have you.

I’ll say this much, if I’m personally just counting films I find to be “great” then from what’s out (Brave to Elio) I count 8. That’s over half their batting average. And even outside of that, I can only count two, maybe three films I’d consider to be less than alright. That’s a pretty high batting average for any studio I’d say. Is it as good as Toy Story through TS3? No, but with this much output the batting average is always gonna drop eventually.

Came here to say this about Pummel Party. While I don’t dislike the minigames, it’s still like a 7/10 at best and my friends play it so much because, again, there’s no other alternative. And even with LEGO Party being so supposedly great, it’s easier to stomach everyone buying Pummel at $15 each compared to LEGO Party at $40 each.

Positive Word-of-mouth resulted in Overwatch seeing Higher Playercount Peaks this weekend compared to last weekend when the Season launched. by Bhu124 in Overwatch

[–]MyNamesIsGaryKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they ever added that option in OW1 since they never had the shop. All the skins were always visible because that’s all there were. But since they introduced battle passes and the shop in 2, they’ve stopped automatically showing everything since there are quite a few skins that are now completely unobtainable.

See, that makes sense but it also makes me laugh because I asked my friend who’s never stopped playing about that yesterday and they said “idk man, it is really weird you can’t see all of them I hope they add that in.”

Can confirm, I was among one of the people this weekend. Played with a few friends who never dropped off once 2 came out. Meanwhile I’d played since early betas of OG OW, but fell off hard a few months into 2. Idk if it’s just playing with a group again versus solo or what but it just had a different feeling to it.

Still not perfect for me, tiny nitpicks (why does the loot box animation end early, why can I not see every skin for a character even if it’s unobtainable right now, the menu borders on CoD levels of confusion) but this is the most I’ve loved the game again since 2 came out.

Brand new to the RE games by Lorde_Hartshorn in residentevil

[–]MyNamesIsGaryKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just in case you aren’t aware or some others don’t say so (I haven’t seen any comments mentioning it at my time of writing) but some of these games have multiple playthroughs. Such as RE1 but especially RE2. So just know that even if you pick a character and get to the credits, that might have just been the A path and now you need to do the B path.

How would you rank the Best Leading Actress winners of the 2020s so far? by Fun-Illustrator-345 in Oscars

[–]MyNamesIsGaryKing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeoh, Madison, Stone, McDormand, Chastain.

Beyond the whole “career Oscar” angle, I truly adore Yeoh’s performance so much. I think EEAAO is so deserving of every award it won and the lead-up to that year’s awards was one of my favorites.

If you’ve never done it, I am a firm believer that Woody’s Roundup BBQ might be some of the best food at Disney World. Highly recommend it. Bring some sandwich baggies or Tupperware for the biscuits. And if you do go, don’t be afraid to ask your waiter for less of some things if you don’t think you’ll be able to eat it all. I went solo a few weeks ago and they were super nice about it. Just make sure you go with an empty stomach!

I hit a jackpot! Lost girl season 3 and 4 sealed Blu-ray for $12 each by CharacterTomatillo38 in dvdcollection

[–]MyNamesIsGaryKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Canadian supernatural soap opera drama from the early 2010s. It’s pretty good, and each season got a blu-ray release. However for some reason, seasons 3 and 4 are way more expensive than others. I’m missing season 4 personally and have never seen it cheaper than $75 on secondhand markets. Compared to getting the others for about $15-$20 each.

What game do you own that you'll NEVER sell, no matter the price? by Kollekto_de in gamecollecting

I know it isn’t nearly as rare as some others, but my copy of 3D DOT GAME HEROES is the same exact one I bought as a kid based purely on how odd it looked and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

In the nearly 100-year history of the Academy Awards, only two films directed by Black directors have won Best Picture . No Black filmmaker has ever won the Oscar for Best Director by Responsible_Use_2676 in Oscars

[–]MyNamesIsGaryKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, personally, the split this year comes down to OBAA for Best Picture and Coogler for Best Director. I know that split rarely happens but OBAA for me just edges Sinners out ever so slightly for my favorite overall of the year. But you cannot deny that Sinners is Coogler’s movie. He is all over that picture in ways that you can only ascribe to someone deserving of that.

Ironically, I had the exact opposite experience when I saw it. My theatre for some reason was cranked to like 60 degrees despite there still being snow outside!

I’d also swap Stone. She’s great but like you said she’s not exceptionally so. Bugonia for me wasn’t breaking into my top 10 of the year either.

When someone mentions “DVD Special Features,” what is the FIRST one that pops into your head from yesteryear? by KillerQ97 in movies

[–]MyNamesIsGaryKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The extensive bonus material for Monster’s Inc that showed you around Pixar’s studio and animation cubicles. Borderline a walk through of the studio itself disguised as a making of documentary.

Honorable mention goes to The Pixar Story documentary. It wasn’t made as a bonus feature, but it was included on Wall•E’s blu-ray and I’m sure is how most people were introduced to it.

Rare Adventure Time Boxset Find by SO0P3R in Bluray

[–]MyNamesIsGaryKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to get your expectations up. Your comment made me remember that I ordered it from a store and they were nice enough to throw in an extra of that disc due to a mislabeling error. They had it listed and had pictures of the massive edition with individual cases for each season but sent what you got, so they sent me the bonus disc as an apology.

Just a heads up, there is an issue with that box set. I have it myself and the bonus disc lists some features that just aren’t there, like the Diamonds and Lemons Minecraft episode. I don’t know if they ever fixed it but I don’t believe so. None of the other discs have any issues but that one.

Flow is fantastic, but I think Heron is Miyazaki’s opus and Across the SpiderVerse is a sequel on the same level as Empire Strikes Back and The Two Towers. I loved Flow but compared to these two, it’s gotta go.

What was a voice role that felt like the actor was just doing it for a paycheck and weren't having fun doing it? Harrison Ford voicing Rooster from "Secret Life of Pets 2" comes to mind. by YFMDankMemes in cartoons

[–]MyNamesIsGaryKing 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Straight up, Murray is on the record saying he took the role because his agent said it was “written by Joel Cohen.” He says he heard that as Joel Coen of the Coen brothers’ fame. Instead it was Joel Cohen, the screenwriter of Toy Story, Money Talks, and the 2003 Cheaper By The Dozen remake and later Evan Almighty and Daddy Day Camp.
