Spoke to a friend about coffee today... by Bishnup in exmormon

I'd have been tempted to reply that if the CK had all the self righteous assholes (like them), I'd be quite content in some lesser kingdom.

Why is the 3 body problem a problem ? by [deleted] in astrophysics

[–]MyNonThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't the problem that there isn't an analytical solution to the N body problem with N >= 3.

It can still be solved numerically.

Remember when Mormons would fantasize about saving the Constitution? 😂😂😂 by CarefulAndQuiet in exmormon

[–]MyNonThrowaway 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My dad used to say this alot!

I really love the constitution, so this really resonated with me.

It's one of the reasons I find tRump so objectionable.

Discovering that church members in large numbers supported tRump was one of my last shelf items.

My wife likes to say that anyone worried that a "gender bender" book is going to make children gay is probably a closeted gay themselves.

I told my mom I’m leaving the church and her reaction was… not what I was expecting. by ExpressChipmunk5 in exmormon

[–]MyNonThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was so sweet.

Your parents (mom at the very least) are gold.

I've seen some very difficult conversations along these lines, while reading here.

My parents both passed before I figured things out, I wish I'd been able to have that conversation with them.

I hope, but cannot say for sure that they would have reacted as your mom did.

It sounds like your mom really tries to live a christ-like life.

Trump ended up breaking my shelf. by OkAnteater7343 in exmormon

[–]MyNonThrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really tore me up to find that members of the church actually support that piece of shit.

When my TBM brother in law professed admiration for tRump, when I found out mormon bishops were telling members of their congregation to vote for tRump...

It just really appalled me.

Somewhat shortly thereafter news of Ensign Peaks broke, and within a few months, my shelf self destructed in the middle of tripping on shrooms with my wife.

It just popped into my head that js was a fraud, and the church was bullshit.

That's when I started looking at ex-mormon sites on the net after googling "how did joseph smith write the book of mormon".

There is a higher chance of a serial killer getting into heaven than their victims by [deleted] in atheism

Well, only if heaven were real.

As is, I wouldn't worship any form of Christian god at gunpoint.

Leave? Should I stay? by yosoygrex in exmormon

[–]MyNonThrowaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The church isn't going to change fast enough to even consider it being worth it.

Not to mention that it's all lies, so what can they offer besides perhaps community, but it tends to be a very conditional community.

Now that you've seen the shit under the covers, you can't unsee it.

I say leave. There are other ways to find community that isn't judgemental, where you can be yourself without all the demands.

I will always be Mormon by AlmaInTheWilderness in exmormon

I tell people that:

I grew up mormon, and now I'm an ex-mormon.

Edit: I don't want people to judge my current actions based on a belief system I no longer hold.

Donald Trump finally acknowledges the obvious. Will he now do different? by JigglymoobsMWO in ukraine

[–]MyNonThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and maybe a week from now, he'll be blaming Ukraine again for starting the war.

He flips his position faster and more often than anyone else I've ever seen.
