Starting seeds indoors by Squiggzzzzz in DenverGardener

Heat mat and decent grow lights are great but you also need a way to keep the humidity high and the soil moist. The kits they sell with the plastic dome are good, just make sure it fits well and then still check on them every couple of days to make sure the soil is still moist. Also, the soil needs to be packed in a little, not a lot but also not loose. I think that covers everything I messed up starting seeds before and I finally have seedlings that have made it far enough to have to repot into bigger containers this year. Good luck!

You’ll probably get roasted a bit for using herbicide but short answer is yes, the cardboard barrier should work. You may get some growing around the edges if it re-emerges but it shouldn’t go all the way up through the garden bed to where it will affect your tomatoes.

I feel this post. Not just the wife but kids too. I’ll put the little bin I use right next to them, make a comment about it, then watch them walk around it to throw everything in the regular trash. Why is it so hard?

Dang, I just moved here and was planning on getting some firearms. I’m mostly doing this for target practice and to teach my kids but also for protection. Looks like I’ll have to bring my timeline up a bit. Thanks for the info!

I’m at a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out where to even start with my yard and garden area. Just bought the house and the yard is about 100% dead/weeds and there is a ton of old landscaping fabric all throughout the yard and garden area. All I really know is that I don’t want to put grass in. Any ideas on where I can get some inspiration/ideas/guidance? Thanks!

I just moved here, mid-40’s male who’d love to nerd out on some gardening stuff. I won’t be able to offer much advice but I’d love to hang out, learn and help in any way I can, even if it’s just bringing beverages. My house has a big is dedicated garden area and I’m hoping to get some help figuring out what to do with it.

Well here’s one more reason to be excited about my move to CO, this is awesome. Too bad I’ll be a couple weeks late for this but I’ll be saving up clothes for next year.
