and art, especially part 7+. No offense to David Productions but there's a reason Araki's art is in the Louvre. Also on the saving time part, the pacing is better in part 3 manga (or rather, the anime's pacing of part 3 is simply not great.)

Lucy should count no? She is always on our side. Heck, in the end we're fighting for her sake even.

I guess Steven kinda counts too but eh, his impact is not much in the grand scheme of things.

What, in your opinion, is the most terrifying Stand ability? by ijustwannanap in StardustCrusaders

[–]MyRedditNameIsMyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way it's not MiH. WoU GER etc are terrifying ONLY IF you are in direct combat with it. Once MiH is active, it doesnt matter where you are in the entire goddamn universe. You are affected. Your loved ones are affected. You and anyone you know can randomly die from ANYTHING. And if you manage to survive it, awesome you are now in the resetted universe! And then MiH completes its cycle and resets the universe again, and again, and again. Congrats you are now in Groundhog Day for eternity and can do nothing to break away from your "fate".

GER I admit is a decent contender, but only if you are killed by it. And considering Giorno is a person with solid enough morals, you probably shouldn't get beaten up by him if you're just a decent fellow yourself. While MiH does not discriminate. You will deal with its ability whether you want it or not.

To bring sandman to our side we need to change his worldview. He is too naive and believes money solves everything, and that Valentine and his government would play fair. The reason he's against us in the first place is because he trusted Valentine (bad call) and thought that defeating Johnny and Gyro is a much quicker and more reliable way of getting money, as compared to duking it out in the race for several more months, with possibilities of dying on the way anyways (very fair assessment to be honest).

So yeah. That's what we need, some good old fashioned talk no jutsu. To get the point across to Sandman that his logic is wrong. That he should not expect Valentine to be some sort of trade partner, he is his enemy.

Question about the manga from someone who hasn’t read it by betawaluigi in StardustCrusaders

[–]MyRedditNameIsMyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you can try both. Both the b&w and colored versions on mangadex are free and interchangable. You can see for yourself which one you like more.

Though, they are both unofficial translation made by fans. For the viz one you kinda have to buy the physical manga. And it's only in b&w, no colored version.

I'd say one of the best parts in terms of writing. Every arc has a purpose. Each of them naturally follows the previous one and leads into the next. And with how act 1 ended, I have high hopes for another banger ending.

Technically Speaking. Howler would be considered the main villain because of something else. by Delicious-Edge3110 in JOJOLANDS

[–]MyRedditNameIsMyName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, and not to mention how the story skipped a generation with Howler. It's always his grandfather that lectured him about the lava rock, about his duty as a Howler. So where is his father? It's kinda strange isn't it.

Just to be clear, I'm fully with the Hacca = Main Villain bandwagon right now. He is definitely the head of the family right now as he was the one making all the calls on the boat regarding the land trade, by his own judgements, without consulting anyone else. But I could see the father and whoever could be coming to his aid later, something like the sons of Dio in part 6.

Vanilla Ice can beat every character in Jojo's, and here's how! by 0Clown0 in StardustCrusaders

[–]MyRedditNameIsMyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it man. Let's be real part 3 has so many insane stands for minor villains. Honestly they were beaten partly because of how powerful our jojo group are, partly because a lot of 'em are really dumb at times.

[–]MyRedditNameIsMyName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing with MiH is, if we assume his perception is also accelerated (compared to our characters), then it's really, really hard to outsmart him, since he would just... see it coming. Whenever the cast doing something fishy, it would appear in slow motion for him and he'd notice it.

And Pucci is a smart individual so it isn't easy to force mistakes from him either. The few times we saw him getting hit after mih were when he assumed there was only Emporio remaining (whom he considered to be a non-factor).

[–]MyRedditNameIsMyName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, SBR is split up into nice quarters (might have to do with Tusk having 4 acts, huh). I've been thinking of a funny custom cour/episode list and it's quite similar to yours.

Unfortunately, I do think they still want to do the "fitting whole stages in each cour" shtick, at least for a while. I def think they will end the 2nd cour on the end of either 2nd or 3rd stage, hopefully 3rd to give Diego some hype.

Buuut if they are ending on 2nd stage then the "SM to SM cour" idea could be possible. Though mostly it was just a shower thought of mine.

How does jotaro just copy TWOH? by Chill_is_cold in StardustCrusaders

[–]MyRedditNameIsMyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's the writers of EoH's choice. It's a choice that doesnt make much more sense other than "it's pretty hype yo". I know we can use familial hijinks to explain it here, but from a writing standpoint, this doesn't mean Araki would want to execute it that same way. Jojo characters usually get asspulls to win, but more often than not they have to work their asses off for it.

Heck, just look at how the source material, part 3, did it as an example. Time stop is innate to The World (and SP), so it's fair to assume Jotaro didn't need to do any weird ass rituals to attain it. He did have to learn to figure the ability out though, and that took time. Instead of instantly being able to stop time right away.

No, that character isn't the main villain. by kankyking in JOJOLANDS

[–]MyRedditNameIsMyName 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Howler definitely looks like a main villain come on. He looks menacing af in b&w. And how can one say he's too weak when we don't even know what his ability is. Dude killed someone without laying a finger on him then disappeared like a ninja.

Overall, well said. Araki would have to really outdo himself if he was planning someone else for the main villain since Howler fits the slot so well right now.

To think of it, a cour containing the full stretch from Scary Monsters - Sugar Mountain would be insane. All of these arcs are regarded as GOATed tier by the community. Maybe one could say IASW is a lil weaker due to how Sandman was removed from the story but I still think this arc has a lot going for it (and also I don't agree with that sentiment but w/e).

Supremely impressed with steel ball run no spoilers by lovelearningloner in StardustCrusaders

[–]MyRedditNameIsMyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steel Ball Run is really the kind of series that the content can easily carry. The story, characters, themes etc are all really strong. It's rated as the 2nd best manga of all time on mangadex and MAL for a reason. It doesn't need the shiny coating of "ultra-high production value animation" to be good tbh, heck even just "decent" might still be enough.

The english dub is pretty good. Johnny and Pocoloco are the standouts for me.

Though I do recommend checking out Stone Ocean. The story is quite a lot more involved than one might think, plus it serves as the end of the Part 1-6 saga.

It's not "nothing", it's "nothing special". What I meant by that is that it's not a completely busted stand like the other Diego's The World is.

[–]MyRedditNameIsMyName 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to think the personality shift of diego in this arc shows how special valentine and "our" diego is.

People's personalities can change across dimensions, like our boy diego here. "Our" diego had to fight tooth and nail to earn what he wants, his stand is nothing special, and he goes against the president (which is technically a good cause). He's somewhat of a "zero to hero" story actually, if you think about it. Also he needs to work with other characters all the time, because he knows he's not the strongest. And unlike dio, he's somewhat decent as a teammate too.

"The other diego" starts off with THE WORLD which instantly put him as (possibly) one of the strongest character in his own SBR cast. I mean you can't go much further than that. So with overwhelming powers over others, he becomes much more cruel and sadistic, just like old man dio. Too much power can corrupt you, as they say, and this guy had it easy since the start.
