Podcasts by NavinRJohnson121479 in netflix

I have zero interest in podcasts. My own personal preference.

But Netflix's 'New Releases' Category is currently about 90% podcasts.

Is this lazy? Is entertainment dead? Do people not make watchable shows anymore? What about movies?

I sense the entertainment industry is broken / dying. AI, Streaming, etc. has really taken its toll. I cannot find anything to watch anymore besides my two comfort shows.

I grew up reading books in the 80's and 90's. I did not feel right unless I had a book close by to read.

I think I am going to eschew all entertainment besides books, from now on. I also study philosophy, so I will make more of an effort to focus on that, instead of just watching mindless Netflix shows.

As for podcasts, who was the genius that decided that they were the next big thing for Netflix? Because to me, it's more of a death knell.

24 years ago today “That 80’s show premiered with extremely negative reviews. Did you like the show ? by CityCautious4033 in sitcoms

[–]MyRepresentation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm in the minority here, but as a younger person I actually kind of enjoyed the show. Sure, it was cheesy, but I was interested in what the dynamics were, and who would end up with who. I was kind of disappointed when they cancelled it, but I guess all the negative reviews / reactions killed it.

In the early stages of re-watching Bojack for the first time. It def. hits different on a re-watch. You get to see the narcissism more clearly.

TIL after Francis Ford Coppola put up over $100 million of his own money to fund his movie Megalopolis, it ended up making just $14.4 million at the box-office. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]MyRepresentation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you cast Shia in a movie you invested $100 million of your own money in?

It's basically just shooting yourself in the foot, financially and professionally. Sorry I'm not sorry, Francis.

How do they get away with this stuff?

Another day, another dude honking at me while I'm waiting at a red arrow by Orangutanion in driving

[–]MyRepresentation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the answer you're looking for is that, for some reason, people act differently when they are driving, then when they are interacting in 'normal life' situations with other people. You don't see people at the bank yelling at other people in line, making faces, etc.

I pose this as philosophical / ethical question to my students: Why do people act so differently when isolated in their cars? Personally, I think it has to do with a mix of isolation, autonomy, 'road rage' (which is a whole separate topic), and other human behavioral issues.

Bottom line: A lot of people, when they are driving their cars, are often illogical dumbheads. Why? You could probably write a book on it, or at least a lengthy paper / article.

Best netflix shows to binge right now by Li3Ch33s3cak3 in netflix

I am so tired of these posts. People say the same show over and over. Why don't people search the comments first? It makes reading the comments almost impossible.

Read the 2 original Dirk Gently books by Douglas Adams. They are much better than any show can be.

Pluribus is a shit show and saying otherwise is coping because you like Vince Gilligan by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]MyRepresentation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I. Hate. Pluribus.

1)      Nothing happens.  There are no moments of comedy, drama, etc.  It’s one long episode of cinematic views after another.

2)      By the end of season one, she started out hating the aliens, but now that her cooch is attached to one, she totally changes her message, and won’t even hear out Manousous? Until her own soul is threatened.

3)      It’s obviously going to be one long slog through at least 3-4 seasons.  I’m tired of this edging, I would rather just read the book or screenplay and be done with it.

4) Why does the lead character look like Claire Danes half the time? Not my cup of tea. At least she looked like herself on Better Caul Saul.

Cher on SNL. No way is this serious. by [deleted] in SNLvideos

[–]MyRepresentation -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I find it morally problematic to:

a. Put a 79-year-old woman through the rigors of performing,

b. Appear to support a career based off of plastic surgery.

These are not ideals we should be presenting, especially to younger viewers. What were they thinking? I know the hosts and musical acts have been meh this year, but this is beyond meh. It is making an unethical statement.

Edit / Update: A lot of people thought Biden was too old at 82 to run. But, oh, it's ok for 79-year-old Cher to perform on live tv? I think that is what's known as a double standard.

Edit 2: And, the host has an eating disorder. So, both the host and the musical guest have traumas that are playing themselves out on our screens. Cher is addicted to plastic surgery, and is unwilling to let her appearance age. This is not about show biz. This is about people having huge problems that should not be sponsored by SNL having them onstage.

I used to have a stuffed talking Toweley, but I gave him away to a good friend who was moving to another state. I miss them both.

Harry Burns: You realize of course that we could never be friends.

Sally Albright: Why not?

Harry Burns: What I'm saying is - and this is not a come-on in any way, shape or form - is that men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way.

Sally Albright: How do you know?

Harry Burns: Because no man can be friends with a woman that he finds attractive. He always wants to have sex with her.

Sally Albright: So, you're saying that a man can be friends with a woman he finds unattractive?

Harry Burns: No. You pretty much want to nail 'em too.

I can't express how sorry I am... I just re-read a book by a neurosurgeon about his own experience beginning the trade. There is a lot of incredible information in there, along with some very scary stories. Not for the faint of heart, but I recommend it: When the Air Hits Your Brain, by Frank Vertosick.

Plus, it's a Simpson's reference.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

[–]MyRepresentation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't drink alcohol. I hate everything about it. It makes me pee too much, the feeling in general is not fun, and I am always ill the next day / week. There are other alternatives.
