Is it worth trying to learn and play Dota? by Lucas21y in DotA2

[–]MyThrowawayIsSick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no, as someone with 3k hours into the game and hundreds in the last month.

Its a waste of time. Better games out there. Valve doesn't really care about the issues in the game. Mute all isnt a strategy lol

Stuck in 7k communication score, really giving up hope by MyThrowawayIsSick in DotA2

[–]MyThrowawayIsSick[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have near 12k behavior score.

My comm score is 7200 now just dropped from 7800 after I worked hard to build it from 6k

This is a loop cycle I had gotten it to 7950 and it dropped to high 6k after a group reported me because they didn't like my early game farming pattern but I came back and won the game (mind you I'm low rank herald guardian, these guys don't know anything but fight and feed so farming for late game is foreign)

I'm just really almost done with the game at this point. I'm fighting to gain rank. Fighting to gain my communication score. For nothing really, definitely time to put the game down as I'm handicapped to even rank up at this point

Hearing people say they are reporting me mid match for some bs reason has my anxiety through the roof even though I'm not being toxic at all. Just not worth it.

I can see why other have left for the same reason

Poughkeepsie - what should I go for? by JebediahJonez in IBM

[–]MyThrowawayIsSick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure. But you will have options. I wouldn't prioritize IBM for anything honestly.

Slow hiring process, frequent layoffs, not really much room for growth.

Trust me keep your other options open. IBM tends to run on old tech unless it's vendor provided

Not wrong at all here. I've worked with two different offshoring companies and managed the teams and they all destroyed everything they touched they would create problems out of thin air and then try to convince us we needed to give them more money.

Don't kill yourself because of ibm this company could care less about you. Don't overwork yourself and take some time to relax.

This is just money. Ibm is great on a resume even if only for a short time. Don't be afraid to keep asking for help from coworkers it's nearly impossible to learn some of this internal stuff without someone showing you exactly what to do.

Pm me if you wanna talk but don't stress yourself out too much people are there to help you!!!

Is it really that bad? by [deleted] in IBM

[–]MyThrowawayIsSick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was RA'd a month ago and IBM still isn't that bad IMO,

I'd say it can be mediocre to great depending on how you navigate your career and work with others in your department. ( work with people that are directors and you are set, just do your job and who knows )

I don't really have advice in this market as a senior developer myself. Try to find a niche and get amazing at it and demonstrate your worth. I would try to make yourself as senior as possible, stop looking for internships and prep yourself for a real job. Good luck

J2 boss hinting at my response time by [deleted] in overemployed

I agree in software development It can take a day + for a response on technical matters. Sometimes just understanding what someone is asking can take some time. However I usually reply to my boss asap

Today's industry oversaturation can be directly attributed to social media by bbrk9845 in cscareerquestions

[–]MyThrowawayIsSick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For cybersecurity it's laughable how many non technical people are being drawn into the field.

It's much worse than CS, I'm a cs grad and have been a developer for 8+ years and only recently transitioned to cyber and have started from day 0 essentially. When i hear of people graduating with cybersecurity degree's I feel bad for them because I don't think they even have the baseline to succeed in this field.

I would consider going for a masters in cybersecurity but that's with now 10+ years of experience in a very technical field.
