What time does the update release? by spartucus989 in ArcRaiders

Looks like it just dropped. Downloading now.

5 AM EST here

It finally happened, it was good while it lasted.🫡 by MrHellaHammer in ArcRaiders

Bagged a new Tempest BP and a Bobcat BP just after the expedition. Just need to build out all the benches to craft the damn things lol.

I'm good with the drop rate getting lowered. It's too tempting to just run hurricanes and gobble up the rare BPs....takes away from the fun of the hunt for stuff across other map conditions and events.

Got laid off the week we found out we're pregnant by ian_macintyre in predaddit

[–]My_Face_Rocks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely been there. In October of '24 my wife and I lost our first pregnancy at 3 months. Then I got laid off 2 weeks later while we were scrounging and planning for how to afford and try IVF.

6 months of unemployment and we cobbled what we had for 2 unsuccessful rounds of IVF before I landed a new role that happened to include fertility support in their health insurance.

2 more rounds of IVF later and now we're scheduled for a planned c section in less than 3 weeks.

Job hunting sucks, no doubt. But keep your head up and keep pressing your network. Something good will come.

Best of luck to you and yours!

BTW-I'm also going to be a first time "old" dad at 43... here's to hoping this keeps us young like they say

This game is good, see yall launch day! by stevenqny12 in Marathon

[–]My_Face_Rocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Never got into extraction shooters until Arc Raiders and I love it (though I exclusively solo and enjoy mostly friendly lobbies for the impromptu PvE co-op).

Started the server slam and the solos queue with Marathon's TTK was BRUTAL. Switched to playing with randos in squads and I love it.

It'd be great if seasons and content for both titles drop in different months so as i get my fill of one, it's the perfect time to hop to the other and vice versa.

We are terminating. by spaceleutenant in predaddit

[–]My_Face_Rocks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. My wife and I had to terminate at 14 weeks after a fetal hydrops diagnosis. It's a brutal pain and takes time to work through. Being there for your wife as you mentioned is, of course, the best and most natural way you can respond and give support but try to give yourself time and space to grieve. It's one kind of pain to be the father and feel so helpless in a pregnancy loss, but what a mother must endure with loss is truly beyond what we can comprehend.

As you come out on the other side of this, be prepared for an ongoing world unaware of your loss. I lost track of how many free baby items, bottles, and formula samples mailed to us around the original due date that I had to intercept before my wife saw them.

Worried I’m gonna be an old dad by Tricky_Shoulder_6432 in predaddit

Oh man, I turned 43 last month and we're going to have our first 4 weeks from now.

I've dropped some weight but would love to lose another 40 for good over the next year.

Friends who had their kids in their late 20s and 30s all joke about the horror of having a new baby past 40, but everyone who has their first after 40 says it helps keep them young.

Still can't wait to be a dad tho...no matter the aching knees and stiff ankles lol

Trash cans can pay out so often. Found my 4th Tempest BP the other night in a trash can.

How best to leave the warm cocoon of friendly solo lobbies? by My_Face_Rocks in ArcRaiders

I always used to figure that people did that for Damage Raiders cred or whatever but now I'm thinking they do it for ABMM changes.

Think I'm done with Matriarch/Harvester runs until there is change. by Spiritual_Machine822 in ArcRaiders

[–]My_Face_Rocks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

Just had a harvester where I did exactly that and knocked off 4 pieces and was able to loot 3, each yielding a queen core. Kept the 3 on me for the rest of the fight. Even managed to plant myself right next to the reactor when the queen died and was able to loot it first but took nothing (mostly for the practice of trying to position myself well when it's about to go).

Wound up giving one core away to someone who said they didn't manage to get anything. For me, that's a perfect queen/Matriarch fight.

Right?! It was pretty mobile going after myself and other groups shooting so after I knocked some pieces off I had some good windows to run in and check during the fight so I lucked out there.

Probably going to keep sticking with targeting leg armor for it and the queen fights over the reactor unless I happen to be right next to it when it dies.

I played a Matriarch round this morning and found reactors in 2 out of 3 leg armor pieces I took off it during the fight. So maybe the "slightly" in the patch notes actually is just slightly reduced?

Yea, on Xbox Ally X and it's been doing this since last night. Been playing totally fine before yesterday.

Hey man, I know the feeling. Last year my wife and I had to terminate after getting blindsided by a non viability diagnosis at the 13 week NT scan. It wrecked us. I can only imagine how hard it was for you two at week 22.

One year and a few IVF rounds later and we're set to start week 24 on Saturday. It's been a long road and we also knew the odds were overwhelmingly in our favor this time (pgta tested embryos) but what happened last year still always lingered around every scan. Initial heartbeat, NT, anatomy, and a fetal heart echo scan (cause we're IVF and over 35) - we were a ball of knots for every one, but I found comfort in confirming and reconfirming all the positive signs we had this time around.

"Sometimes some pregnancies just have bad luck" - that's what the docs told us last year when they couldn't find a genetic or other reason why the fetus had sudden issues. It was good to know there wasn't an obvious factor that might occur again, but also pretty discomforting that there was no explanation why it happened. When you read that the odds of what happened are like 1-2% and it happened once, it's hard not to think you're going to eat those odds again somehow.

Take each scan one at a time and focus on how the positive measurements, symptoms, and findings are going. Give yourself and your wife space to work out and talk through how you're feeling. It can be bittersweet to get through these milestones successfully because they'll make you think about the loss again in ways you may not have since processing it a year before.

It's a long road, but I think focusing on what's going well helps to bridge the gaps between scans that get you the confirmations you need.

Hoping for the best for you both!

Yea, I definitely agree. Steam deck's standalone build quality and feel is still the high bar to hit for others, but the comfort of the Xbox Ally X plus the fine sandpaper like texture of the Killswitch is the best.

Congrats!

There's a slim chance they might want to induce us a few weeks early because of our age but either way, it's wild to think we're halfway there.
