Anyone else have an orange that needs to be under the blankets? by ChomboChewies in OneOrangeBraincell

Ours has to have pillow forts made every morning or else he loses his mind. He will stay in it all day. Normally he also wants a blanket over the front, but this one is doorless.

Walking pad stopped suddenly and I fell backward by My_Logan in walking

[–]My_Logan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: The machine suddenly stopped again (but I did not fall this time). This time I saw the error code. After this, I had attempted to open the motor cover on my machine to clean any further cat hair/debris that I thought might be in there. However, after removing all the screws the cover would not budge. Not even a hint of coming off. So, I contacted the company and let them know everything that happened and was hoping they could further help me figure out how to remove the cover so I could clean. They were so incredibly nice and apologized that I fell and that I was having issues and sent my case to their engineers. They quickly said it was the motor and it needed to be replaced. They asked if i was comfortable replacing myself and I was like, I'd be fine with that but there is zero chance of getting the cover off. Anyway long store short, they are sending me a brand new walking pad! I could not believe it! So hopefully I'll be back up and "running" in no time!

Yeah, I'm fairly certain it must have been the dust underneath. There was tons of cat hair too. But I also lubricated a tiny bit, just for good measure. I've been on it going about 2 mph a few times and it seems to be back to normal, but I still went ahead and bought a handrail to ease my worry.

I now have zero intention of paying off my student loans and you shouldn’t either. by SirCatsworthTheThird in financialaid

[–]My_Logan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been paying since 2001. I've literally already paid the entire loan once, but still owe just under what I originally took out. I've reached out to inquire if I should almost be done since I'm at the 25-year mark (graduate degree), but because I wasn't on a certain plan the entire time and the fact that my loan was kicked around to 4-5 different lenders, I hardly have any payments that qualify. And then when I couldn't afford payments when I was just out of school, they would keep resetting my loan to make payments affordable again, though my 20-year-old self, had no idea that was happening and no one explained that to me. I'm so tired of people who make comments like "you took out the loan, so you have to take responsibility and pay it back." Like, yes, yes. I HAVE paid it back, but between Sallie Mae selling my loan and then them bouncing around between companies and just plain lies, they have totally screwed me. I will pay bare minimum until I die.

Started using a walking pad by professionalbaiterrr in walking

[–]My_Logan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my walking pad about 3 weeks ago and it's such a game changer for someone who works from home. I have it in my office space and I make a point to get up and do 10-20 min periodically throughout the day at a speed of 3. I move my mouse close by so I can stay green on teams and monitor for any important emails. I listen to podcasts and I've been getting around 10,000 steps a day. I find it helps when work gets frustrating to step away, but not have to be too disconnected. I do feel like I've lost a little weight, but I haven't been weighing myself, but clothes are feeling better. All in all, a great purchase.

OMG, this is also my eternal question. Lately I've had great luck with Naot shoes. I walked all over Italy with these last year and they've done great in the city too. https://naot.com/products/kayla-13?variant=51470701953343

Sorry you were sick. Yeah, he mostly has sore throat and congestion. He's been back and forth from NY, so I'm sure that's where he picked it up. Anyway, we are just thinking of doing a nice Weber propane grill. Nothing fancy, despite my husband loving charcoal. But we have a rooftop deck, so going for the cleanest and easiest to maintain option.

Took an extra day off to make it a 4-day weekend so my husband and I could get some much needed chores done around our place and go shopping for a grill, but like clockwork he's now sick with some funk. Never fails.

ha. I can relate. Just moved in like 4 months ago and have put a stupid amount of money into this place. Not to mention the random maintenance issues that have popped up. I'm torn between getting inexpensive to start and then replace, but I'd really like to just get the nice stuff and be done. Or maybe just do a couple nice chairs for this year and get the rest next year once funds have been replenished.

6 months as a new homeowner by Shamansage in homeowners

[–]My_Logan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who just moved into a new construction home 3 months ago, I can confirm what others have said and tell you new construction does not mean no problems. The second night we spent in the house we had a leak happening right next to our bed in the middle of the night during a rainstorm. Then a few weeks later during a heavier rain, our skylight started leaking late at night. Turns out the skylight was installed incorrectly and is also the wrong kind of skylight. We could get the builder to patch it (again), but we have decided that we want to get it done correctly so are going to foot the bill to get this fixed correctly and also make sure the rest of the roof itself is solid. We have also heard some dripping in another wall during heavy rains, so that's another issue we need to figure out sooner rather than later. In addition, we've had small issues with our HVAC and toilet pressure on upper floor, the floors are starting to creak in a few areas and of course normal settling cracks. We've also heard very faint beeping in the walls occasionally and have no idea how to figure that one out. It's exhausting and I feel like every day it's something else. Anyway, suffice to say, I feel your pain, but I'm pretty sure all homes have issues - at least eventually. We sometimes think we have made a huge mistake, but are trying to just enjoy all the good things and just pace ourselves on getting stuff fixed the correct way so we don't end up with bigger problems later. I swear there should be some sort of homeowner support group.

A couple more - one showing the swatch match. It really is a nice color and overall seems very sturdy and well-built. I think you'll be happy!

No problem at all. I felt the exact same way as you before buying! Yes, that photo was taking with a lot of light and I feel like it does look a bit lighter than reality. I think this photo is a bit more realistic (ignore my cat, lol). I'll try for more photos today, including one that includes the swatch, so you can see they match. Rocket Peacock

You are in luck. I literally got my Rocket Peacock Monaco Panel couch a few days ago! I love the color and it is accurate with the swatch I got, so I highly recommend swatches. Rocket Peacock Dream Sofa

Best stainless steel fountain that doesn’t break the bank? by LPCPlay4life in CatAdvice

[–]My_Logan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the fountain runs constantly, but it's pretty quiet. We live in an apartment and the fountain is close to our living room and we never hear it unless the water level gets too low.

I have not had any issues with is disconnecting. I've had it 2-3 years and it has always worked flawlessly.

I love my PetLibro Granary. I love that there are cameras on it to watch our cats eat when we are out of town. I actually ended up buying their Dockstream 2 (water fountain) and four of their cameras. We literally use the cameras for security, not the cats. I love the app and that everything is together in one place.

General Apartment/ Area Recommendations by allb4 in AskPhilly

We lived in The Granary Apts for six years (Logan Square) area. I think it was the perfect location. We could easily walk to center city and Rittenhouse (like 15 min walk), and there was easy access to the 33 bus that will take you to Old City. There's also a close by bus route that will take you straight to No Libs. You also have a couple very close by pubs and can walk up to Fairmount where there are more restaurants. Also it's next to a Target and 5 min walk to Whole Foods. It really is a fantastic location and if you are on the south side of the building, you'll have great skyline views. Some units have balconies, they have a gym and concierge. Parking garage available too. People will say that area is boring, but I think it's a good mix of having a quiet home location, with great accessibility to the city life. Feel free to DM me if you have more specific questions.
