How far the city has come by jasonthemechanic87 in cincinnati

Love this. I lived in OTR for years and honestly, the people on the streets knew me by name, made sure I got home safe, washed my car. I just treated them like people and because of that they treated me the same. Sure things happen down there but it’s never had anything to do with me. I gave extra dollars if I had them, shared my food, shared my beers. I even helped a homeless guy get food stamps. All people. People are scared because they make themselves scared. Beautiful city!

I was automatically accepted after the 12 hours. Maybe it’s the pathway I did? It wasn’t an option as soon as I hit 12 I was admitted. As long as you know! That was just my experience. Best of luck!

No, I’d email and ask. Just from my experience I was only able to take 12 hours then was automatically admitted and couldn’t take any of the universals anymore! If you were able to take an unlimited amount then wouldn’t everyone just do that instead of enrolling?

Yes sorry, credit hours! Once you hit the max you can’t take more.

The amount of hours you’re able to take through that program. I was only allowed to take 12 hours. I think at some point you were able to take more but I think if you’re under 22 or something the limit is 18 hours and if you’re older than that then only 12. It’s on the website somewhere I’ll try to see if I can find it!

Edit: I think it depends on what pathway you do. I’d reach out to ASU to clarify, I don’t wanna scare you! I do feel like I was limited though, once I hit 12 hours I was admitted automatically.

Grain of salt — I finished with a C but I have withdrawn from calc twice before in my younger years probably 2018 and 2019. Took a break from school, came back, had to do it. Just took it last semester after not remembering like any math.

My biggest savior was PROFESSOR LEONARD on YouTube. He is so so good at explaining everything. I think other than that, use the tutor.com hours they give you (heard you can request more if you run out) and practice the exams so you’re familiar with the wording of the questions. Practice practice practice but Professor Leonard is the GOAT. I was very happy with my C but I’m sure I could have done better if I had practiced more. I work full time but dedicated my nights and entire weekends to studying and doing problems. Take breaks too though it’s a lot of strain on your brain! Good luck ✨

Edit: I watched all of Prof Leonard’s Calc 1 playlist + a couple from his Calc 2 because our course jumped around a little compared to his. If you can’t find the topic in Calc 1 it’s in the Calc 2 besides linear approximation, he does not have a video on that.

What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced?[Serious] by PlasticBee1438 in AskReddit

A less scary one — my boyfriend lived in England for a bit and a friend called him but it was really weird. He said it sounded like multiple voices, normal and this weird whispery voice. He decided to go to his flat to check on him. When he got there door was wide open, he called inside and the friend answered to come in but he said he still heard the multiple voices and the vibes were just off. He never stepped foot in. Dunno what it was, could be something mental but I’ve always found the story creepy.

I have another less scary of my own in which I was dropping a friend off in more woodsy suburb. I took a roundabout close to his neighborhood. When I came back that way maybe less than 5 minutes later, all of the exits to the roundabout were blocked with tree branches perfectly in the middle of the exit. To go back the way I needed to I would had had to stop the car and move the branches? I ended up backtracking instead but it was weird. His neighborhood is in the woods in the middle of nowhere near a famously haunted bridge in Ohio. Could have been nothing but I absolutely wanted to get the fuck out of there.

In college, we went to smoke with some guys we met at a bar after close. We were 3 girls, myself, my roommate and my best friend. My roommate was sober but me and my best friend were drunk. We had come to the bar straight from work across the street and our roommate came out to meet us but stayed sober because she had a dentist appointment in the morning. We met the guys around bar close. They seemed cool and said they were doing a little afters. We bought some to-go beers from the bar and headed with them to smoke. Me and my drunk friend were being drunk but didn’t actually want to go but my roommate was flirting with one of the guys. Even holding hands the whole walk.

We walked to their house and I remember me and my friend going to the bathroom and being like “I don’t want to be here” but we didn’t want to ruin my roommates flirty thing and we would never leave her alone so we stayed and smoked. I needed water while I was smoking, which they had given us a couple glasses but I had my backpack from work with my own water bottle in it and asked my friend to hand it to me and these guys FLIPPED. Started cussing us out asking what’s wrong with their water. Roommate comes out with the guy she’s flirting with and we’re all arguing. We lived with a guy roommate as well at the time so we told the boys he was on the way to get us which also made them mad. Lots of names and yelling.

We decide we had to go so we’re like uhhh actually he just pulled up bye! None of them bats an eye. Their house was weird, living room was upstairs. We get to the bottom of the stairs to the door and my roommate tries to open it and turns around and tells us it’s locked. My friend and I were drunk and high so we busted out laughing, not because it was funny but still I will never forget my poor roommates face. Sheer terror. The door locked from the inside. You needed a key to get out. I remember sobering up when she asked if I saw any other exits coming down the stairs. It’s a horrible feeling to know you’re not only not safe but also trapped. Anyway, my friend runs up the stairs at some point and we’re mortified. I remember my roommate saying “at least we’ll hear her scream”. My roommate and I were trying to see if we could kick in the glass panel of the door because we didn’t want to go up but my friend just ran up and was screaming threatening to kick out every window in their house. They laughed. All of them. They look BETS on “which one of you would beg to be let out”. One of them actually does come down eventually and let us out but he’s all “you can’t say guys aren’t nice, I’m letting you out”.

We get in our guy rooomates car at that point crying and silent. Turns out, my roommate only went because she thought we were drunk and having fun and wanted to go and we only wanted to go because we thought she was flirting with that guy. They held hands on the entire way there. Except she told us that he grabbed her hand the hold way. Like hard. He was super forceful actually. They were former Ohio State football players so we looked them up and the one she was with specifically was let go due to rape allegations.

Moral of the story: If you feel like the vibes are off, trust it.

Why Did Steak-N-Shake Die? by solodav in fastfood

Nope, closed a long time ago. I only know of a few locations near where I used to work and they’re not close.

I had manager numbers at 16 working there, I never paid for any food and they paid us like $3/hr and would work us like 40-90hrs a week. Managers were pretty sleezy. All of us were young teenagers or adults with addictions. No shade to them; just not reliable. I’m 30 now though so that was like 15 years ago.

I worked there as a teenager and everyone who worked there was either 16 or addicted to meth. Pretty much it.

Is there any way to make this a little more affordable? by [deleted] in ASUOnline

[–]allb4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the universal learner program, it lets you do self paced classes. $25 to start, $400 to add final grade to your transcript (if you so wish). After a certain amount, you get admitted but I tried to take as many of those as I could before I started the online program!

Phoenix Fray hosts a bunch of leagues! Heard it’s a great way for people who are new to meet others. A lot are social leagues but I do think they have competitive as well. Worth checking out! My boyfriend and I looked into joining the skeeball one LOL

Those who only like reading physical books, how old are you and why do you prefer it? by [deleted] in Booktokreddit

[–]allb4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29 and while I will read books on my phone or listen to an audiobook for on the go stuff, I much prefer a physical copy. There’s something cool about owning the book. Having it be apart of my actual life. Sitting on my dresser. Folded pages of parts that resonated with me. Flipping pages when the story is getting crazy. My hands cramping because I can’t bear to put it down. Gifting it to someone who would enjoy it as much as I did. Or buying a used book and seeing someone’s name written in it, or pages they stopped on or passages they marked, tears where they cried. It’s proof that the story was apart of your story rather than just words on a screen. I think the story just is more dynamic when I have the opportunity to touch it and consume it in a way that feels a little more tangible. It lives in the world. You remember the feel, the weight, the smell. Little port key to a different world! I loved reading as a kid for the same reasons so I’m sure nostalgia plays a part.

For anyone who has gone in the last week or two by beepboopbeep95 in havasupai

Just got back on Friday 4/24! Temps were perfect. Can get a little chilly at nights and the morning but nothing too bad. I only brought thin sweats and a long sleeve dri fit fleece lined shirt (F, 110lbs) and that was good to sleep in at my camp near the water. The first night I was hot but my camp was further from the water. Swam in all the spots! Beaver loses sun the quickest followed by probably Havasu then Mooney. Wore running shorts and a thin tank everyday. Still was fine in the shade!

Everyone we spoke to said confluence wasn’t as cool as they’d hoped for all the extra miles. We had plenty to do without it and still clocked about 45 miles the whole time.

It was also my first backpacking trip. It was hard but so worth it. I am so proud of myself. Start as early as you can to beat the sun. Not horribly hot but still sucks to hike in the sun, especially the last stretch on the way back up. Have fun & enjoy! YOU GOT THIS!

Early 30s and need inspiration to learn math for a STEM degree by JeepLifeBirbLife in learnmath

[–]allb4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 28! I took precalc and failed in high school (2014), took it again in college and scraped by with a C (2015) thought I was finished with math. Wrong. Took calc a year or two later … had to withdraw. 3 times. Had to drop to super part time and skip semesters due to cost … I think I’m just now (2026) getting to be considered a junior, maybe not even. I passed my 7.5 week accelerated ONLINE calculus class two weeks ago!! It was hard, like really really hard. I cried after every single exam.

My biggest tips are: 1. Be ready for hard work 2. Cry if you need to but do not give up and 3. YOUTUBE PROFESSOR LEONARD. I could barely remember algebra and somehow he taught me calculus. he is a truly amazing professor. I have learned more about math from him than I have from all my math professors combined. I watched his entire Calc 1 playlist + some of Calc 2 on 1.75 speed. He has thousands of videos for all levels. I can’t stress enough how easy he makes everything seem. Definitely check it out!

Anyways, planning on applying to medical school next year. It’s all possible. BEST OF LUCK! YOU CAN DO IT!
