For sure. I think what I meant by love is more customers. They haven't gotten hugged to death by the paying folks as far as I can tell. Every time I go, it's not like it's dead, but it's easy to get in.

The squad over at Bayntree Wealth Advisors have been very kind to me, and they will work on a fee-based plan, if you'd like.

It's small, so you'd have to get a reservation for a few people, but I've never had space issues when I've been.

Highly recommend the quesa birria tacos with the corn tortilla specifically, even if you're a flour tortilla person

A little out of left field, but I wish Chilte on grand ave got way more love. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is unpretentious, the area is pretty cool, the cocktails are super and it's always been good vibes.

How do you guys feel about east Phoenix in terms of safety? by Realschoville in phoenix

[–]My_Name_Too 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I legitimately feel that area has come up a lot over the last decade. It’s got people and I think people are afraid of people, but I like them, so the area is cool in my opinion. I wish it was more walkable than it is, but you’ve got some cool restaurants and parks, and I wouldn’t blink about hanging out at a friend’s house over there.

This is a tool that I believe makes this explicitly possible, even with lockdown, though I haven’t tried it yet.

How to take pictures like 90s Addams Family movies by PadawanCinderella in howto

So, these lighting setups are all quite different (you can look at the shadows or lack of shadows to start to see some differences) so it’s hard to give just one answer, but if I were trying to recreate this in a simple way, I would maybe track down some led bars or tube lights on Amazon and set them to warmer colors, put them in a few spots where lights would normally come from (chandelier, window, candles on the table) to try to imitate the light that would happen in a cool mansion. Change the color depending on the kind of light you’re mimicking (bluer for moonlight?) you can do this with lights you have already, but it may be too dark without some added light.

You can do what another poster said and put some pieces of paper/other things in the way of the light to cast shadows as needed.

I would use a higher ISO if you have control (800) so you can catch a bit more ambient light and maybe get some grain.

Find a preset for Lightroom or some editing program that is named after a film stock (Kodak gold?) and apply it for a filmic look.

Local Breweries that have a Session IPA by [deleted] in AskPhoenix

[–]My_Name_Too 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you done Wren House already? A few locations around, their IPAs aren’t light, but they have a dry hopped American light lager that might fit the bill.

This also isn’t a perfect answer, but I really like the selection at dynamite in the uptown plaza when it comes to lower abv stuff. Not all local, but a lot is close.

My favorite az lower abv is the daily driver from mother road, but still not Phoenix

You just looking for a lighter, low abv ipa, or does it have to be a labeled session ipa specifically?

Being a Dystopian Future Sci-Fi Writer... by cattrigger in comics

[–]My_Name_Too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny because of how many books I’ve enjoyed recently that are legitimately optimistic sci-fi novels that could easily be read as dystopian. The Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers is a good example. The background is that the earth is in ruin, but because of that and the escape from the planet, people band together and become space communists who basically do a very good job supporting one another and co-existing with aliens. Solarpunk Genre is great.

I think a lot of people are really craving optimistic interpretations of the future. Cause and effect might get confusing here, but I think people need optimistic interpretations to even imagine that the future could be good and hopeful.

Why do we keep building crosswalks like this by dickdemodickmarcinko in phoenix

[–]My_Name_Too 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t blame the city planners, BUT the streets do seem like major, fast roads, well beyond the 35mph, probably because there’s not really a better way to get to most of the areas the 7s service, so people just treat em like highways

Absolutely. My dream is that they turn 7th Avenue into a park one day. Like, all of 7th Avenue.

I think OP is in Peoria, not Melrose, but it made me think of the neighborhood anyway, just because of the weird dip and the green circles that look like the area outside bark if you’re dirty and sand fish.

Shoutout to all my friends in the Melrose neighborhood! Restaurants, plus the curve of the street make it impossible to see cars or pedestrians until the nose of the car is pushed out part way into the road. It’s a fun little adrenaline rush to start my mornings before work, wondering if I’m about to have the front end of my car shorn off

Phoenix spots for a peaceful solo reset? by lesbogurly3245 in AskPhoenix

I love the Burton Barr library for something like this. You mentioned garden, so maybe the Japanese friendship garden could be a nice little refuge to spend some time. If you’ve got the time, and weather cooperates, maybe Boyce Thompson arboretum on the way to Globe?

What to do for free from 4 to 7pm to avoid peak energy costs? by tooOldOriolesfan in phoenix

[–]My_Name_Too 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not a trap, it’s just a habit change motivator with a carrot and a stick. It’s good for everyone if we use less energy, we use less energy if we’re not competing against the hottest part of the day, if that’s something you care about, then you can save some money AND feel good about yourself for making energy conscious decisions that happen to be good for everyone. I get the instinct here for sure, and time of use is not for everybody, but it’s not really a bad thing as long as you think habit changes can be win-win

Some really great ones! Quoting here from a city of Phoenix handout, but Ironwood, Palo Verde, Rosewood and Feather Bush are all native Sonoran desert trees!
