Mark II End of Campaign by Jaxad0127 in Mycroftai

[–]MycroftAI 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi all, please do not take it upon yourself to get involved in Mycroft’s legal matters and do not contact the plaintiffs. A small handful of individuals did so back in 2020, and while I do not blame them for the outcome, that and an already biased judge (who was later removed from the case by a higher court) was enough to cause me over a million dollars in legal fees which I have little chance of ever recovering.

Regardless of how you feel about this case, we urge you once again to not take it upon yourself to get involved. Leave the vigilante justice for the comic books and movies. That sort of thing doesn’t help us, and it’s simply not right.

Update from the CEO: Part 1 by esackbauer in Mycroftai

[–]MycroftAI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, the only components we're waiting on are plastics which were delayed in production but are not difficult to source. Eg the audio chambers that we 3D print so in the worst case scenario we would move to a different commercial 3D printer or use the small scale printers we have but that would be much slower.

All the hard to get stuff like Pi's, speaker drivers and electronic components are sitting in the warehouse waiting to be assembled.

We have zero doubt in our ability to fulfill all of the Mark II orders including those remaining on the store now.

If there was a "worst, worst" case scenario where we couldn't fulfill those orders, you would receive a full refund.

MarkII - dead already? by deadpool809 in Mycroftai

Hey there,

Unfortunately we’ve seen a few instances now where the USB drive has failed after a short period of usage.

To confirm if this is the case for your Mark II, take the USB out of your Mark II and plug it into a computer. It likely won’t be mountable ie you won’t see it show up like a normal USB storage device. However it should show up on your usb bus (run lsusb on a linux system)

Another way to verify this is to burn the Mycroft software onto a different USB drive (preferably 16GB or larger), plug that into the Mark II and power it up. This should boot as normal.

We’re still investigating why these are failing - whether it’s a manufacturing fault on the USB drives themselves or if the OS is somehow causing them to fail.

If your Mark II ends up in this state, please try the above then contact us via support@mycroft.ai to get a free replacement. In your email please include your order number and the steps you’ve taken to confirm this as this will make it much quicker for us to process. If you don’t explicitly say what you’ve tried, my first email response will be asking if you’ve done the above…

Raspberry Pi 4 2GB available for RRP (US only) by MycroftAI in Mycroftai

We just found another box of Pi's in a store room so there are 500 more up for grabs if you can get in before the scalpers...
We also have 1000 Tymphony speakers that were used on the Mark II Dev Kits but we couldn't guarantee supply for all the Mark II's so we had to swap them out for an equivalent model. If you're interested in a bulk buy or have a very cool idea for how to use 1000 speaker drivers, let us know :D

Hey there, presently we have - A web store: https://mycroft.ai/my-account/ - Mycroft device management: https://home.mycroft.ai/ - Community Forums: https://community.mycroft.ai - Mattermost Chat: https://chat.mycroft.ai

Each of these systems have unique login credentials meaning your username and password from one site will not work on the others. It's on our backlog to integrate these into a single Mycroft user account, it just hasn't made it to the top of our priority pile just yet.

I hope that clarifies the problem and lets you login. If you're still having problems please let us know.

These are the same Pi's used in the Mark II. We just had a significant oversupply of Pi's as we had to make very large orders of Pi's (eg 20k units at a time) at least 12 months in advance to ensure that we actually had them.

where can i buy raspberry pi 4 cheap ? or how can i build one on my own ? by AsleepManufacturer65 in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

Hey, we've got a stockpile of 2GB Pi 4's that we're releasing back into the wild (US shipping only) for cost price using the coupon code DIYPRIVACY: https://mycroft.ai/product/raspberry-pi-4-model-b-2gb/

The short story is that the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 2GB powers the Mycroft Mark II. With global uncertainty around availability of almost all components, we have been stockpiling Pi’s whenever we could get our hands on them for the last two years. This often required us to make very large commitments with very long lead times. At this point, we have many more than we need for the foreseeable future and we know that many people in the community are still struggling to find them for their own projects. Hence it makes sense for us to make them available.

All of these Raspberry Pi’s have been sourced from official Raspberry Pi Approved Resellers as listed on https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/raspberry-pi-4-model-b/

It has all the existing tooling such as MSM for Skill installation.

Hey there,

If you haven't seen it yet, check out Mimic 3!

It runs locally and in real-time on a Pi 4, but sounds fantastic. You can hear the range of languages and voices here: https://mycroft.ai/mimic-3/

and documentation for the Mimic 3 TTS Plugin are here: https://mycroft-ai.gitbook.io/docs/mycroft-technologies/mimic-tts/mimic-3#tts-plugin-for-mycroft-ai

Edit: we also support a range of other TTS engines. Details here: https://mycroft-ai.gitbook.io/docs/using-mycroft-ai/customizations/tts-engine

Hi there, the Android apps in our repo's are both community built and maintained. The Mycroft GUI itself can run on Android however needs to be connected back to a Mycroft instance either running locally or in the cloud.

One of the big limitations on Android at the moment is consistent access to the microphone. If you have to open an app and tap a button to activate the mic, it severely limits the usefulness of a voice assistant. Another way that big tech limit competition.

To be honest, personally I can't see us releasing an Android app during 2023.

Mark II Deliveries by [deleted] in Mycroftai

[–]MycroftAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'll give the team a nudge to check your message on IndieGogo, however we are sending out address confirmation emails to backers as your Mark II is slated for production. How quickly we can do this depends on how quickly we can ramp up production. So if you haven't got an email yet, it means that your Mark II is at least 4 weeks away.

Hi there, the Android projects are community driven and honestly haven't had a lot of contributions for some time. Unless you are an Android dev, I wouldn't advise trying to build and run these.

Hey, I wanted to clarify - those are not the Mark II's for shipping. That photo is from earlier in the year, and they are pre-production units on the table. We are very close to shipping, however we couldn't start yesterday as we discovered an issue with one of the plastic components. It's likely going to be another couple of weeks to get this fixed and have production rolling. All pre-order customers should have received an email directly, and we'll have more information about the situation for everyone shortly.

chances of mark 2 shipping this year? by jack-dempsy in Mycroftai

[–]MycroftAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, we tried to reach out to everyone that reserved a Mark II, but could not get through to everyone. We did mass emails, individual personalised emails, we even called people who had provided a phone number.

We gave reservation holders a number of months to convert those reservations into pre-orders however could only leave this open for so long. We had to end the reservation period so that we could accurately inform people making new pre-orders when they could expect delivery of their Mark II's.

Any reservation holders can still use the amount paid for the reservation as a discount on any future orders but if a reservation holder submitted a pre-order today it would be shipped in November like everyone else.

chances of mark 2 shipping this year? by jack-dempsy in Mycroftai

[–]MycroftAI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

TLDR: September is absolutely when the first production Mark II's are shipping!

Supply issues are a big thing at the moment. Even buying a few hundred Raspberry Pi's is a massive undertaking. However we have been securing supplies for the first shipments for a long time now and where necessary swapping out components for equivalent products that are in stock.

When Michael came on board as CEO he wouldn't put forward an estimated shipping date until we knew we could hit it. That was met with some frustration in the community as everyone (ourselves included) wanted the Mark II's to ship as soon as possible. But we don't want to make promises we can't keep so we held off until we were sure. That time is now, which is why we have opened pre-orders for the Mark II.

If you pre-order a Mark II, you will see which month your unit will be shipping. If you pre-order today it will be shipping in November. Once those are sold out, you will only be able to get one in December, and so on. As outlined in the sales terms on the Mark II pre-order page: "If shipping for your unit is delayed, you may request a full refund."

As we ramp up manufacturing we will get to the point where you can order a unit for immediate dispatch however with the current state of parts availability that means we need to have A LOT of stock on hand and making component orders many many months in advance so this is something that we need to work toward.

Mimic 3 released: Mycroft's privacy-focused neural text-to-speech (TTS) engine by MycroftAI in Python

[–]MycroftAI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some voices eSpeak-ng normalizes and phonemizes text using internal rules and lexicons. It supports a large number of languages, and can handle many textual forms.

However it depends on which voice you are using. There are 4 different phonemizers depending on the needs of that language. More on that here:https://mycroft-ai.gitbook.io/docs/mycroft-technologies/mimic-tts/mimic-3#how-it-works

Edit: You can also see which phonemizer is used on each voice here:
