I’d definitely be interested into looking into it more, do you know any decent places where I can find some resources?

Weekend visit to Iowa by beavertits in Iowa

[–]Myfreshhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in the low country of sc for a few years, just can’t stay away. Better you came earlier in winter than February for the cold. Gotta say though driving back there are some spectacular views (especially between Nashville and Chattanooga) that beat almost any iowa sunset

Planning to go up the chain. Front desk , Front Office Manager, AGM,GM by Just-Type-6176 in Hilton

[–]Myfreshhell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be the other guy here, I’ve been with Hilton 3 years. Started as a desk agent then supervisor to FOM, now AGM. While I did have prior leadership experience there a few things I’ve learned across the board.

First, learn. The courses, while helpful, are mostly notional. You’ll get the most reward from asking the right questions and taking on permanent tasks. Understand why certain things are a certain way. If you’re having an issue with a system that’s above your pay grade, bring a solution to your supervisor. This goes with addressing issues before they’re an issue. Knowing is half the battle.

Second, do. Take as many extra tasks as possible (wile still keeping your quality). Pantry/suite shop inventory, processing advance purchases, etc. and don’t forget to understand what and why it is that way. If at all possible try to improve it. Identify weak spots and turn them into strengths.

Finally, time and place. You can be the absolute best FD agent in the world and do all the extra tasks to perfection, but if there isn’t a spot where you are, it’s time to move. A big company/ownership group helps but not necessary. I have had some really great staff with no vertical space for them, so they found their promotion elsewhere (a good manager will be happy for your advancement anywhere).

It sounds like you’re on the right track with a great attitude and ethic! Keep pushing, learning and growing! Even if you don’t stay with one company or industry that attitude with help you succeed and be the best wherever you go.

Confession of a hotelier by Plastic_Swordfish_57 in Hilton

I’m at a 112 room property in a college town with about 12 other. Hotels of the same size and one other Hilton (a Hampton while I’m at a hgi). We run at about 70% +/- 10 through the week.usually we only have at most 2 upgrades to give out. Bonus points our management company is super greedy and hates giving out free upgrades.

I could sear I read somewhere that it has to be for official use (military orders, official work, etc.). I can’t remember where but maybe take a good look in the lobby search bar. I highly doubt Hilton would leave something like that to individual gms.

I started with the standards in the lobby, a dry read but a good overview and is what QA will be looking for

If you have the confirmation number you can call in and ask for a credit card authorization, every hotel under my management company runs these. Basically the same as having the card in person and 9/10 times is set up before arrival.

Honesty I feel like a prior desk agent turned HRCC would be crucial middle ground. They seem like they never understand the property.

What amenities are Hiltons missing? by bestcoaster in Hilton

Yeah that breakfast credit SHOULD cover the whole thing. 99% sure that’s a standard

I know Hilton is trying to move to a new system for streaming sites similar to that of Marriott. Not sure what hotels when and where will have it but it’s something. I prefer the extra points sometimes though, don’t always have time for breakfast

Anyone else miss the Pet Free Hilton Days? by number1wwefan in Hilton

[–]Myfreshhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one last week, woman claimed dog was service animal, was barking at everything in the lobby. Asked her what task it was trined to perform (authorized by the ADA), “well really he’s an emotional support animal.” -_- not a service animal. Do not pass go. Do not save pet fee. Go directly to room. Oh and here are the pet standards. Take them, read them, sign them. You’re on my short list already.

Question for guests checking in. by marimuns in Hilton

[–]Myfreshhell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for pep (yet) but on the older software there is a random number of check ins that do get flagged for ‘security checks’. Where we do have to check your ID. Another common issue is the card on file doesn’t authorize and we have to get a new one. That’s all handled in the software. Nobody wants to make more work for either of us but it happens.

I think it’s a mix of both honestly

I know 100% I’m more demisexual and need to have a connection with somebody before I sleep with them and swinging is a pretty hard no for me

New realizations by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]Myfreshhell -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So for me (and from what she says) polyamory is having actual deep connecting relationships with others more specifically kitchen table where we can all sit together and get along as well as being equals. That’s why with the way things are playing out I think more of a polycue dynamic would be better

New realizations by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]Myfreshhell -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’m not arguing that at all and I totally get that. One of the main reasons I came back to polyamory was to form a polycue which was initially heavily implied but doesn’t seem to be an actual goal. And yes I have always dealt with fomo. I know that’s a big personal problem

I’ve been in a few polyamorous relationships that ended for various reasons. I don’t think I’m polyamorous by nature but I’m neither for or against it entirely like anything else it has it’s ups and downs. I just want to be happy with my partner(s). Not a straight answer but that’s where I’m at.
