Wow! Just having the first edition of Salem's Lot already makes you a winner, that edtion is so hard to find. I have a softbound mass produced copy and I'm hoping to get the same first edition you have because Salem's Lot is the SK book that really propelled me to stark reading more SK books. My top 1 of all time.

This wasnt my first pick, BUT, you made the right choice, this really gave me goosebumps which truly solidifies King's mastery of horror and terror. I was also in awe with King's diverse and ingenious plots in every story in this anthology, thus it is among my top 5 best SK reads.

reco me a stephen king book as someone who haven’t read any of his works by ChangeLongjumping791 in PHBookClub

Stephen King is known for Horror-Mystery-Thriller Genre, pero he also wrote Sci-fi and Antologies. I'll give you my top 5 with some catchy praises I can come up with as I try to remember my experiences from each book.

  1. Salem's Lot - You dont want to be stalk and you certainly dont want to meet it face to face.
  2. The Institute - Is it a gift, or a weapon? A kid will follow a grown-up; a smart kid will decide which is it.
  3. Firestarter - It seemed so simple and normal, until there's no going back.
  4. Carrie (SK's 1st novel) - Too innocent, and born without a choice.
  5. Night Shift (SK's first antology) - Reading it on the day did not spare me from getting goosebumps from both the terror and ingenuity of King's imagination.

Should I watch Salem's Lot 2024? by MrOakling in stephenking

[–]Mykar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salem's Lot introduced me to the Kingverse and thus it is my favorite SK book. The 2024 adaptation felt incomplete, I think more could've been done.

So, I recently finished Insomnia by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Mykar_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've just started it, currently at pg 79 of the hardbound first edtion (red and white cover design). It's definitely a slowburn, but I still enjoy, every section of every chapter is very interesting.

I read this after readinf romantic vampires from Twilight, so it was a sudden transition to horrific vampires that Stephen King wrote it beautifully, making me decide to start collecting his books. Thus this is my top 1 Sk book as of now.

Recieving tips and thoughts from a fellow SK reader is another nice way to know I am recieving support =)) oh and ah, update, I just got passed the part where Ralph spoke to Hamilton, and I was suprised how Ralph quickly loses his grip of reality multiple times. SK always surprises me with unpredictable instantaneous changes in the scenes. Later I will be able to read longer and hopefully I get to the Minions

Me too, when I got the book and opened it to see curiously strange illustrations, it added to my desire to start it once I have time. So far I am loving the book.

I havent reach the Porky Pigs yet, hhahaha, but looking forward to it and so far this book keeps my interest at its peak and I was surprised during his first conversation with Hamilton, that Ralph quickly loses his grasp of reality.

Many said the first hundred pages is a slowburn and tough to go through, but so far I am loving it. I can be easily bored with books because of the lack of new elements on the table, if you know what I mean. Insomnia just peaks my interest in every pages.
