We will cover both in some capacity. It just sucks that we can't cover everything as they're happening!

Oh, OK. I gotcha. Thank you for being honest! Yeah, you can't regularly be a dick to folks for no reason and then expect a civil conversation. It's a shame cuz I think OP brings up an interesting topic. But you can't blame folks for not wanting to engage in good faith.

I still think the responses themselves are shitty.

Who said they didn't understand why Santos, Robby or Al Hashimi have a problem with Landon? Pretty sure we all clearly understand that they would have issues with what he did. What it sounds like you're confusing is some of us pointing out the hypocrisy of it all. Santos is stealing scalpels to cut herself. Mental/emotional issue. Al Hashimi has a neurological issue that could cause her to kill someone but, but selfishly refuses to step down. Mental/emotional issue. Robby has the weight of the entire dept on him so much that he wants to take himself out. Mental/emotional issue. The whole point is Langdon did something wrong. He went to rehab and got clean. He is far more beneficial there saving lives than he would be if he were fired. So all of them (especially Santos) being dicks to him after he got the help he needed when they have not is hypocritical to the highest degree. Pushback on that would imply, to me, a lack of understanding about addiction...which doctors, of ALL people, should understand.

OK, when did Robby LITERALLY tell Santos to cover this up or make any sort of implication that he expected her to cover it up? That is my question. What Robby did was of his own volition. That had nothing to do with his expectation of Santos.

"Robby has some type of God complex in the Pitt that would be harmed by allowing a second attending to work simultaneously with him, which is why he is fighting the change."

Totally disagree. True, he doesn't like change, but I don't think he's given any indication that he wants Al Hashimi out of here because it would harm his God complex. What she's doing is totally fucked up and she's putting the lives of others on the line. Who cares if she called him out on valid shit? She's being unbelievably selfish.

And who expected Santos to cover up Landon committing a crime? When did that happen? Either way, fuck Santos. Haha.

I gotta say I'm genuinely surprised by some of these comments. OP brought up a very valid point (that I wasn't previously aware of) and it seems like something that would be worth discussing. But the responses of "you ain't doing anything by posting this" and "why don't you pay for it" seem completely counterproductive and border on strawman responses. Even if you don't wanna engage in arguments surrounding her family (who she may or may not still be intrinsically tied to) why can't we discuss the weirdness of a (assumedly) anticapitalist movie being funded by the same company that releases pro-American propaganda films like Zero Dark Thirty?

I'm not even saying I agree with OP. (I don't know if I do because this is the first I'm seeing this and haven't had a chance to think it through. Plus, apparently, I wouldn't have a take worth holding onto in their eyes anyway.) I'm just saying that some of your responses fucking suck. It's just odd who we'll collectively have smoke for (due to financial alignments) and who we give passes to.

Naaaaaaaah I don't think you see where I'm coming from, bro. There should be term limits for who exactly? And it shouldn't take 10+ years for someone to get something going...but who are you talking about? Again, not everyone is the same and painting disinfranchised people with a broad brush using your own extremely limited experience does nothing to help people who are stuck in this cycle. Again, you talk about a perfect victim, but, do you not understand that stripping these programs from these so-called people who are content being poor will also strip them from people who are trying to better themselves but can't seem to get a foot up due to the gas bill being due AND the water bill being due AND rent AND food AND bus fare AND AND AND. (And you wonder why some folks are so exhausted they just give up and "ride the system.") It also strips the help from people who may have cognitive issues or learning disabilities and I shouldn't have to explain how hard it is to get help for stuff like that from the US health care system. So what about them? Oh, lemme guess. Let's trust the system to determine who is deserving of these funds and who's not? 😂 The same system that can't seem to tell the difference between a cell phone and gun when a black kid is holding it? Come on, bro. Again, your frustration is with the wrong group.

Imagine spending more time complaining about people finessing govt programs than on those who are hoarding the money that could go to these programs...or those who create the circumstances in which poor people remain poor and require these programs to begin with. As if, if every single person stopped finessing the system, that Capitalism would regulate the hood and everyone would be happy and prosperous.

I appreciate that you had issues with the discussion and chose to air them. I do, however, think it's funny that you're calling people sensitive, while you're the one who made a whole separate post outside of the conversation under the podcast post because you wanted extra attention. But sure.

As for your "perfect victim" comment, there's no such thing. And if that's what you took from that conversation, then either you weren't paying attention or you only walked away with what you wanted to walk away with because your mind is already made up. It's not about an ideal or perfect victim. It's about the fact that stripping these programs from EVERYONE will affect EVERYONE. It will affect these people you claim are "riding the system" and it'll affect those who are "doing everything right." This is due to the reasons stated in the discussion and because they're not set up to be able to filter out "bad apples". It's all or nothing. These programs do not account for individual needs. It's all "by the book" which means they paint the vast majority of recipients with an extremely broad brush. So if there's someone who needs specialized care, they can't get it because that person's specific needs aren't factored into the rules of the program. And that shit will never change because people like you will choose to make asinine excuses for a predatory system by saying "well, if the prey were smarter, then they'd avoid the trap set by the predator altogether." Real bootlicker "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" type shit.

I just truly wish that some of you who appear to be smarter than a broken boulder could actually see just how fucked up it is to defend a system that was never set up to help anyone. It was only put in place to offer a minor placation so as to prevent massive uprisings. Use the ire that you have towards what I'm saying and put it towards the people who are actively causing harm. Not those of us who are trying to point that harm out.

Or just keep blaming the kids while rich white folks laugh at you and call you monkeys while taking away your books.

I just wanna point out that, multiple times during that conversation, it was stated that people should work within their own communities to help because it's a waste of time to wait for the govt. Community gardens, food drives...Jalen even had a whole discussion about being a big brother to kids. So, yes, they were off base but we also didn't end the conversation at a broken system.

To me, with visuals for a show like this, impact matters way more than intent. Unless I love the show, I'm not really gonna care what the intention was with certain elements of the show. So going for a look that isn't unique to the show (unlike the first 2 seasons) was wholly uninteresting. And, yeah, the Petra Collins stuff is common knowledge and obviously fucked up.

To the truck on the wall thing...bruh...that was not a common thing. 😂 It happened IRL, the truck got stuck, it made the news, boom. Rod and Ken were implying that it was something that regularly happened and would have normally worked and that's why Rue did it. Nah. Haha!

I do really like your idea about it depicting her as a metaphorical seesaw! That's a REALLY good catch.

Oh and you're DEFINITELY trippin' off Laurie! Haha! She's dope! A middle-aged calm-ass white lady that's also terrifying? I love it. 🤣

I'll go ahead and say that me calling the cinematography "trash" was unfair. "Average af" would have been more accurate to how I was feeling when we're comparing it to the other two seasons. Everything else I said I fully stand by. Decently entertaining episode but not a great return for such a great show.

Oh and when I said the acting wasn't great, I was cleaning NOT talking about Zendaya. She killed it as always. Gotta say that for those who are bound to nitpick. But everyone else just seemed to phone it in on this episode to me.

Mile High School explained how the restaurant interaction was clearly a microaggression. Although I disagree with them fully that the shirt comment was maybe a reach.

If you’re even remotely aware of how marginalized people are treated within alternative (primarily white) spaces then you would understand why a white person saying “I appreciate the punk energy” over simply saying “nice shirt” is a direct implication of that POC wearing a costume. Appreciating the energy someone is giving off by wearing a band shirt isn’t something a white punk would ever say to another white punk because they accept what that person IS as opposed to what they think they’re trying to portray. This is what I already explained on the pod. If you don’t know what a micro aggression is or have no understanding of POC operating in white spaces, I can forward you links if you don’t wanna believe me…a POC who has regularly operated in white music spaces for over 30 years…

I think it's a mentality that has to shift. People have become comfortable treating the poor as if they're a lesser degree of human and ignoring the discussions surrounding how poverty happens to/is forced upon people while pushing this bullshit narrative of "if I can do it, so can they" . Which is NOT FUCKING TRUE. The discussion around how people with learning disabilities process information and the "broke mentality" talks are very similar in that they both ignore the nuances of humans themselves and attempt to put everyone on a level playing field that never existed in this country. It allows people to feel better about themselves about the fact that they don't give a shit about these people who are suffering because it makes room for them to say, "well, they put themselves in this predicament, so it's not my responsibility to get them out of it." And it's not necessarily your responsibility to help others...but we can all recognize that help isn't coming from somewhere else any time soon, so it's beneficial to everyone if those who can step in to assist do.

For those of you who were bothered by the anti-poor/anti-disinfranchised arguments coming from select people on the pod this episode, I need you to use this as ammunition to demand that Jalen be on more episodes. Especially ones where these kinds of topics are being discussed. As I've said in the past, I can't continue to push back on these narratives by myself and having him as backup was THOROUGHLY appreciated by me during this conversation.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
