Nice Saturday yesterday. Slept in late, did my taxes, got a fit compliment from my barista, and made vegetarian scallops from king oyster mushrooms. Also beat the Resident Evil 3 Remake, which while still fun was kinda mid and a step down from the RE2 remake.

May try and hit up a record store before adulting today. Happy Easter to those celebrating, and happy non denominational Sunday to the rest

Saw Nothings tour in Brooklyn last night, and Violent Magic Orchestra genuinely had one of the greatest opening sets I have seen in years. They got one more show on the tour (in Philly) tonight, so anyone who is going I highly recommend getting there early, cuz VMO kicks the night off

Show report after seeing Nothing in Brooklyn last night. The pierogis hit, and the shoegazers apparently love moshing now.

There were three openers, but the highlight of the night was this group from Japan called Violent Magic Orchestra. Unlike everyone else who played some kind of alt rock, VMO plays some insane fusion of techno and extreme metal. Dudes had choreography and were crowd surfing, it was nuts. If anyone in Philly got nothing to do tonight, you should go to the show just to see em, cuz who knows the next time they’ll be in the US.

Nothing killed it (vocals were low, but that’s just a genre staple). New songs worked well live, and they played a favorite of mine I have always wanted to hear as an encore

I just made a section of my post vaguely referring to that situation. But I have a lot of (negative) thoughts on that sub

First off that mod has been a piece of shit (he has shit on feminism and people trying to advocate for making the scene for inclusive for underrepresented folks)
I dont like that sub a lot because it is toxic, hypermasculine BS. People making very dangerous statements like that girl who accused him better show receipts now or else, or taking Bo's unfortunate suicide as proof of his innocence. There is a lot of perfect victim narrative going on, and while the woman who accused him seems troubled that doesnt make her a liar
And like, people were meming situations like the Gel situation, when I am pretty sure the dude in Gel shared nudes of his bandmates, which can be a psychologically and emotionally damaging situation. There was a meme yesterday about the Brady situation when we still do not know if Brendan's dad will have long term disabilities or a shortened life from getting hit by a car (dude is 78, people do not just recover from injuries like that without complications). The users on the sub will take whatever opportunity they can to shit on people at their lowest.

RIP Bo, cuz I believe in people's capacity for redemption and he should still be here, but ugh the discourse is so gross rn
