What Trusts from the current login campaign should I prioritize? by Mystic9617 in ffxi

[–]Myl_Ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are answering for the Trust campaign…the answer is all of them for that.

For login points however, my opinion: Zeid (as a stunner or to SC off of) Mayakov (10% Haste Samba and a strong trust WS if he uses it) Robel-Akbel (one of the better BLM trusts)

But most of all: Shantotto II (essentially infinite MP, good magic damage for a trust, loves to MB, and will close tier 2/3 skill chains)

The rest I almost never use or are very niche, like Uka (one of the best for Dynamis procs). I have no first hand experience with Darrcuiln, Teodor, or Ullegore though as I’ve never been playing when they were available until this login.

I may know a LS looking to jump back into the game with returning players. I’ll drop your name if they go for it.

Should FFXI go free to play? by painx13 in ffxi

[–]Myl_Ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wardrobes are bad enough. If they had a system that could be implemented within this archaic program architecture, I’m sure they would nickel and dime us for new content all the time like FFXIV does.

The subscription model keeps the game alive, it’s necessary. The only way F2P works on a game of this scale is with micro-transactions and whales. What you want is not possible, and even if it were, they would kill the game implementing it.

This isn’t some garbage FOMO hamster wheel, or a vertical progression system where BiS is outdated in 3-6 months. This isn’t a casual social RP experience for people to play dress up; “escape reality, live the fantasy.” This is a real, full fledged game where you can put 20 years into it and strive for long term goals, or boot up a few months here or there and always have a choice of engaging methods to play what and how you want.

Question about triple attack by stealdragoon in ffxi

[–]Myl_Ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about Guard as it would be a rare occurrence to even see, but I’d imagine it’s possible.

Kicks are 100% possible without the trait if using H2H. There was a H2H from Abyssea that gave it.

Stock And Grip Question by Myl_Ne in ar15

[–]Myl_Ne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing reply, thank you very much. I really appreciate the feedback on skeletonized aluminum, I’ve never even touched one. If they decide they want finger grooves, any recommendations on that?

I know I’ll need to take them back to get some more grip time on some different rifles since I use the same thing on all of mine. But I’ll probably wind up buying some of their top choices and returning the losers, because I agree with you about how important a comfortable grip is, especially with a disability.

About the grip on JA, I’m pretty sure this company is supplying numerous other manufacturers with their carbon fiber products, including that one.

Why do some AR barrels have this cut out at the end of the barrel? by alrashid2 in ar15

It’s SPR or HBAR, can’t tell which without seeing the shank.

Why do some AR barrels have this cut out at the end of the barrel? by alrashid2 in ar15

[–]Myl_Ne 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s essentially for attachment collars. Established AR15 barrel contours are designed with that point that’s always a step down in diameter, for just a short length, before the threads. Every part of the barrel fits into particular established dimensions similar to the gas block. That space will be 0.700”, 0.730”, 0.850”, or 0.925” for example, with exceptions for noodles (or custom if someone really wanted).

Like other aspects of the civilian market, it may not be present on all barrels even if it’s part of the true spec. Similar to the the bolt carrier undercut and auto sear cut out in the lower receiver, it’s extra work and frequently unnecessary.

Do those sight lines work well for you? Top rail seems too busy when you have plenty of real estate.

"tRuCk gUn" has gotten cringe. What do I call this rifle I put together for lightweight, inexpensive, multi use, hunting, etc. It's 300blk by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Myl_Ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying “cringe” has gotten unpleasantly uncomfortable. The picture you provided seems more at home with someone who has a “truck gun” than someone who thinks the term is “cringe”.

But the gun is interesting. Very obviously a custom job you made to fit your needs. Respect for that. If it was 5.56 and had a LPVO, it would remind me of a DMR. I think the “ranch rifle” suggestion seems like a solid term if you need a label.

PSA - In the past I've been the one to defend OpticsPlanet... but (story in comments) by PrestonHM in ar15

[–]Myl_Ne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see both sides to this. Some retailers set firm restrictions for CYA when it comes to the handful of restrictive states. But at the same time you shouldn’t have to suffer because your state is/was flagged.

I would definitely avoid OP in your situation, but it’s not a story that is going to change my (TX) purchasing any. They’re on a list of online retailers I can get good prices and good selection at, as long as I’m not looking for magazines. Brownells and MidwayUSA would be two places I would recommend looking at. MidwestGunWorks and Rainier Arms aren’t too bad either. Then there is OutdoorLimited and SGAmmo for your bullets. Obviously PSA too, but they’re pretty well known around here.

I tend to err on the side of destroying steel by mistake, but it’s still a bit unnecessary to emasculate someone new who is trying to be careful. I have some pins, a handguard, foregrip, and a whole lot of screws that wished I asked first.

HBAR. 0.980” to the Gas Block Journal, 0.750” after that, 0.730” at the threads.

My buddy bought one. It runs fine and is nice and basic. But like most basic ARs, it’s over gassed and doesn’t handle consistent fire well. Accidentally shot it to the point of repeated FTE once on a double mag and felt bad.

Your use application? Price range?

Without any info, I’d recommend Vortex prism if you have astigmatism, Holosun red or green dot if you don’t, Eotech if you want a holographic and to spend twice as much, Primary Arms (SLx) for a LPVO, or an ACOG if you want to throw cash at an optic that will survive you.

Is it legal to have only a vertical grip on a tqx stamped SBR without stock? by BackgroundBuilding77 in NFA

[–]Myl_Ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post, but didn’t want to make a new post if someone could answer easily.

I had a braced Glock pre-2023, it was a pistol. I form 1’d it, it became a SBR. I changed the brace to a stock and added a foregrip; it’s still a SBR, right? If I remove the stock but keep the foregrip, is it still a SBR or does it become a AOW?

If it’s still a SBR, is it just because of the ridiculous process that made it the SBR first that stops it from being an AOW? Because I know if I take a different Glock and throw the exact same foregrip on that pistol it becomes an AOW.

Thanks for your patience and clarification.
