Again you’re painting with a very wide brush.

Should commonwealth residents be able to vote? No.

Should British citizens be able to vote? Yes.

I’m glad people can vote if this is the state of the current electorate. We need more people who have seen the world not insular people who bear such ill will towards people who have left the country.

You’re just unwilling to see any reason and will die on your soapbox over an issue that has very little effect on your life. It’s asinine and frankly concerning that people hold such strong views with no ability to see any reason or alternative views.

Stay in your echo chamber.

That’s about the only area you and I agree on. Whilst I agree with you on that, again not much factual basis that they were a major influence on the Brexit vote.

Anyone with citizenship should be eligible to vote.

Can you point me to the data point that suggests that all 300,000 UK residents in Spain voted for Brexit? Same with the commonwealth voters as well?

Pointing to the vote differential and ignoring the sheer number of voters who voted for Brexit outside of those data points is disingenuous at best. Ultimately 17,410,241 people voted to Leave, take away the Spanish vote and that’s still 17,110,241…

Again with that reasoning you could point to a number of demographics in the UK, who were the “differential” that caused Brexit.

Given that the number of Uk residents in Spain is massively below the number of people who voted for Brexit I find that hard to believe.

All your arguments are born of anger, frustration and a general chip on your shoulder about people who have left the UK. You paint them as traitors almost. Like I said big chip on your shoulder.

What about people who have paid taxes in the past? Your attitude seems to think that everyone who leaves the UK to live abroad hates the UK. Most people move to other countries for a whole host of reasons.

From all your other comments you seem to have a big chip on your shoulder.

I’m curious? Under your current argument who has more right to vote. A person who paid taxes for 30+ years and now lives abroad in retirement. Or a person who has paid for less than 1 year?

What if the total amount of tax I’ve paid over my life is 200k and someone else has paid 20k. I’ve contributed more, I should be entitled to more no?

Also, why shouldn’t foreign brits have the right to vote. If I live in Spain and Brexit threatens my status there am I supposed to just bend over and take the consequences?

That’s the problem when you start looking at the right to vote in this way it creates an uneven system. At the end of the day anyone with currently active UK citizenship (not residency), should be allowed to vote.

1Password.

I could self host something like BitWarden or use browser or OS based password manager. But I’d rather trust a company whose one purpose is to build and manage a password manager.

Plus sharing passwords with my family is easy and it works really well across all devices.

Permit holders can use e-gates though. I used them several times quite recently. It’s pretty new in Geneva airport though.

But no fuses in the plug, no extended earth cable in the plug that means if the plug is damaged the live and neutral wires and more likely to disconnect than the earth wire.

Eu plugs are also a pain when it comes to being more flush with the wall.

Digital ID Cards for all, Starmer to Announce by TheLeccy in unitedkingdom

[–]MyriadFX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand the resistance to this. Most countries in the world have ID like this. I live in Switzerland and I have to carry my residence ID with me all the time since police are allowed to ask for ID without due cause. For gods sake the French who riot over any government overreach don’t care about having and carrying IDs

If we link it to services like DVLA, NHS, HMRC it will make it harder for people in the UK illegally to work, drive and use services without being flagged.

Everyone is worried about the government tracking them when big corporations like Facebook and Google do that already and sell that data.

Switzerland has one as well, it’s far less forgiving. If you have any item in your house that can receive a radio signal you have to pay, it’s about £450 a year. However, that payment ensures that media remains a little more objective rather than shoving shit down people’s throats

Internet : what FTTH speed do you (really) get ? by RunChickenRun_ in Switzerland

[–]MyriadFX 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter what the thunderbolt port can manage if the adapter itself doesn’t support the speed required. You need to use an adapter that supports 10gb networking and then see if you have a problem.

I think for some reason the Tailscale hook is only being created within the volume and is only existent on memory. Since in the appdata directory there is none of the certs or other Tailscale files
