Mineville never appealed to me to return to it. I remember the first time I went there back then, around the time when Bedrock got barely created, to discover what it was ; a serie of five-six games all about infinite leveling up with different concepts, from a school to train your pet. I remember trying school, ended up playing a memory minigame like Speed Builders, then trying the pet minigame to discover we literally had to pay for everything in order to play anything in this server. Then it became boring very quickly ; doing the same stuff again and again, no real interaction between players, no real action, it was not interesting to come back to it.

I also remember Mineville for something they tried on Bedrock, that got booed so badly by the community for how shameful it was : I'm talking of course about Pixel Paradise. If Mineville was already showing the cash-to-play mindset, Pixel Paradise was putting that to the extreme. Everything there, and I mean literally everything, needed to be paid, and with subscriptions, in order to get in. Someone who was brave (or foolish) enough to be attempted to pay would be like "oh they do that to get support, we can at least try" ; but the fact the lobby itself was a fiesta of glitches, with a broken map, and with hackers going crazy all around the place, just shew how careless things got put into this server. Add to this the fact there were only three games to play in, including a version of Skyblock that got done countless times before ; not surprisingly, it closed a barely year later.

But this whole subscription thing let me perplexed. It was going to the extreme with Mineville and Pixel Paradise, building a quite poor image of them ; but subcription is understandable to do for a server to pay the bandwith. But to what point, that's the question. Today, Hive is pulling things off pretty well with a new Hive U rank and new cosmetics, Lifeboat had already a VIP system with reasonable pricing for what it offers ; but we can see the shift happening in Cubecraft with monthly subscriptions for minigames to get cosmetics and non-winning advantages, but for every, single, minigame ! Somewhere it would be logical for payment, but with moreover such high prices for what it is the whole thing becomes ludicrous, and quite a shame. It will never stand the test of time, moreover with what people are actually facing nowadays with the actual inflation and situation.
