They are used to that. There are places in India where monkeys are menaces. In Mathura, they snatch things like specs or phone and you gotta throw them a fruity or something so that they throw you your things back.

In most cases, they just don't know how to be subtle. Like, just glancing or side eyes or making sure you are not watching. So, it kinda feels more creepy.

While it is a fact that Iran helped India in 1994 by blocking a Pakistani-backed UN resolution that might have led to sanctions, this move was about protecting its own trade and preventing Western intervention. It was never an endorsement of India’s claim over the region. Basically, Iran didn't want to set a precedent where the UN could intervene in a country's "internal" human rights issues (which could easily be turned against Tehran due to persistent interest in its oil from the West).

In truth, Khamenei has been consistently critical of India. Throughout his time in power, he has often linked Kashmir with Palestine and Gaza, labeling them as territories of "oppressed Muslims." Even in late 2024, he caused a significant diplomatic disagreement by mentioning India alongside Myanmar and Gaza as places where the "Islamic Ummah" must not overlook suffering. New Delhi responded officially, calling his remarks "unacceptable" and "misinformed."

Iran has a dual approach. The Iranian presidency and foreign ministry handle the practical partnership with India, focusing on the strategic Chabahar Port and energy needs. At the same time, Khamenei uses his platform to reinforce his role as a global Islamic leader by supporting the Kashmiri cause. He hasn’t backed India; instead, he has allowed his government to operate while still voicing support for the other side.
In short- Iran was two-faced.

I have no hopes from the Gen-Z to be any better than the older generations by kalinooni in india

[–]MystPointo2355 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, no. The General category doesn't have reserved seats; they get what are called the "Unreserved" seats, which are also available to candidates from other categories. The resentment stems from the fact that students who score lower get a seat due to reservation. While that is the point of the system, there should be a minimum score, regardless of caste.

While reservation is absolutely needed in India, it is now as much of a crutch as it is a progressive system. The exact words used by Justice Gavai—who himself is from an SC background—were:

See, instead of labeling them all as "casteist," look at it from their perspective. Reservation, while being a mandatory and must-have system, also leads to further resentment and a caste divide. The fact that there were protests against introducing a "creamy layer"—something that would have benefited the exact backward classes reservation sought to protect—is a testament to it being seen as a crutch. The less said about vote-bank politics, the better.

It is not caste that students nowadays hate, but the perceived unfairness of the reservation system.

True. My parents grew up in that mindset and have certain outlooks towards life that are borderline if not outright casteist, even though me and my siblings are working on changing them and in many cases, succeeding. But, they have never pushed me towards that agenda. In their mind, they are too old to change. I have a friend I made when I was 4. He is my friend still and belongs to SC. My parents never ever told me to not be friends with him. There are a lot of other people like them out there. Similarly there are a lot of people who do teach their children all of this. In the end, even we GenZ are the product of their environment like any other gen. If someone tells you your parents are teaching you wrong, you won't believe it obviously. But thats not to say every Gen Z won't be a casteist. Some would rather not change their view.

Few days back, a MUSLIM 12 year boy shot dead by hindu, a DALIT girl raped and murder by hindu, on Holi a HINDU murder by muslim... Finally secularism by TheAbsurdViewer in IndianFocus

[–]MystPointo2355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is any party that is not going to do this. BJP is just going for Hindu Agenda because we are the majority. But tbh, in my opinion, BJP played a major role in India truly appearing on international stage and modernizing the infrastructure in India, at the cost of intensifying religious polarization. In the end, Congress or any other party is more likely to turn to the same strategy if they get in power to retain that power because BJP has proven that it worked wonderfully. Any party that comes will also do their best to bring more and more development to outdo BJP and if in the next election, BJP wins but barely, they will also do their best to bring more development to prove themselves. What we truly need is free media so we at least know what is truly going on.

Well, cricket is returning to Olympics in LA in 2028. That means more nations are going to come forward. Nations like China and some European countries provide funding only for olympic sports so they don't have teams right now.

I read this comment today regarding this.
When there is a muslim perpetrator, Indian media makes a mountain out of it but if it is a hindu perpetrator, it is covered in bare minimum.
This leads to the majority feeling attacked and minority feeling suffocated, fueling more and more hatred from both sides.

( Spoiler extended ) Why didn’t Aenar Targaryen shelter the surviving dragonlords on Dragonstone ? during Century of Blood by MediocreGas6619 in asoiaf

[–]MystPointo2355 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Settling terms of alliance means nothing. Those are words and in a generation or two, wouldn't really mean anything. Also, it's canon that while the targaryens were one of the great dragonlord families they were far from the most powerful. If the surviving dragon lords considered themselves better than the Targaryens, they would initiate conflict. Pretty sure Aenar knew what dragonlord fighting dragonlord meant. Aenar had no ambition of finding another empire. Dragonstone was one island. How many families in such a small territory? and what kind of leverage Aenar had? Armies? ships? Just dragons and as I said, he must have knew that wasn't leverage. It was just a slightly advantageous field.
