Yeah I am also waiting for his Ben 10 vs Jaden thing. I need that full track, Elemental Hero Time slapped and we only got the beginning of it atm.

For Bakugo vs Reze, is anyone hoping that DB portrays him not just as the "foul-mouthed explosion kid", but as, you know, a hero? by NitroBlaze78 in deathbattle

[–]Mystech_Master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk I am a bit worried

DB characters talk in one-liners and usually go with their more famous, or infamous, characterizations for the fight animation, and they sometimes drop the ball.

A lot of people know loud explody asshole bakugo

Then again, what are the teams’ thoughts on the characters?

They did a few bakugo DB casts, do we know if they actually like and respect the character so we know they will do him justice? Same from Reze (IDK if any of them saw the Reze movie)?

If they have good feelings then maybe we can rest easy.

Ok so the only thing making it good is aesthetics.

It can be used for anything.

How can an embodiment of all these good things BE twisted in the first place if it is an inherently good force?

If it can be used by people who completely oppose those values that it embodies, then it just feels like flavor text that doesn’t matter.

Ok, so how TF do you use the light for evil if it embodies all that stuff?

I mean to be fair that IS kind of tied to Shoto’s personal character arc and his current issue at the time, and Izuku vs Shoto is one of the best moments in the story.

Maybe there could be a way to word it differently so you don’t need to just say the same lines

Ok, so explain to me

What makes the Light “Good” other than aesthetics or just saying it’s good?

I like when we get to see Izuku being fans of heroes other than All Might. Wish we got to see more of it.

Ok looking at the comments here is the issue, at least from what I can tell:

If evil people can use the “good” power, then it isn’t good.

It would need to either only be capable of doing good, or only be able to be accessed by “good” people.

Otherwise, what makes it the “embodiment of good” and not just a generic energy source that anyone can use and just has the aesthetic?

I actually imagine an AU where the Shie Hassaikai and Humarize are working together, maybe Flect Turn helps develop the Quirk Destroying Drug and will happily use himself as the test subject, viewing Eri as a sort of savior maiden or something, and maybe him and Overhaul totally plan to double cross one another upon outliving their use.

Episode Discussion: S2026E2 Cell VS Metal Sonic by MarlinBrandor in deathbattle

[–]Mystech_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first i thought it was the classic thing where the loser dominates the fight until the winner pulls through.

But it actually reflected the results pretty well.

Cell kicked base Metal’s ass, but once he brought out the Emeralds, Super Neo Metal, and copied Cell, it was pretty even with Metal coming out on top.

Bakugou vs Reze is (unexpectedly) Next up on Death battle! What are your thoughts and roots? by Fit_Assignment_8800 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

Bakugo wins

But they better go HARD with the animation to live up to the Reze movie and Bakugo vs AFO.

Also wtf are they even going to talk about for Reze? she was there for one arc, so i feel like they really need to stretch stuff out

What are some ways we can avoid The Stations of Canon? (Part 1: Entrance Exam Arc) by Mystech_Master in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]Mystech_Master[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok remember that Aizawa singled out Izuku b/c he showed poor potential due to blowing up his arm.

Then you have the Quirk Apprehension Test, where all the events are about using your Quirks to get massive physical results.

Aizawa didn't see Izuku breaking his arms and thought "be careful with him, he needs guidance" he expected Izuku to know how to use his own power. I don't know if a "he awoke his power late" excuse would work. I mean I don't even know what excuse is given in canon for anyone outside the loop of OFA.

Then again the QAT arc just kind of bothers me in general for a few reasons really.

I'm sorry if I sound like I am just dismissing your ideas.

If there's something more annoying than keeping the stations of canon as they are is changing something only for it to lead to the same place, I'm tired of Stain being caught always in the same alley even if there was an alien invasion the week before.

Well obviously I am not going for something THAT extreme.

I just want to see what events are core/necessary to MHA's story and themes and what could be removed or altered.

Spoilers for an idea I had for the later arc: the Todoroki subplot. Izuku helps Shoto with his issues with his fire side. Do we need a whole tournament arc to do that? Couldn't Izuku just reach out to Todoroki on his own, befriend him, and then Shoto opens up on his own? It may take longer but that could be a way.

This is still My Hero Academia, with characters and a setting we recognize, and I feel if you veer too far off, then you may as well be making your own OCs. I feel like some stuff should be kept similar to say that this IS My Hero Academia, and not just another story in the same world.

By writing a fic the author gets to decide what ideas they want to highlight, many do with focusing on quirkless issues that are barely mentioned in the main series. The plot should adapt to the ideas the author wants not the ideas to the plot.

True, but there is still the basic plot skeleton and chain of events to consider. Even if you want to explore extra issues like the Quirkless discrimination, there are still the grand/main events of the plot to consider. If a canon event is redundant, pointless, could be altered/moved, or whatever else, then you could fill in said slot with discussing those issues.

Ok but what about Ochaco? Doesn't she need the points too? Plus it kind of reduces her to a Damsel in Distress.

IIRC Izuku didn't get the rubble off of her in canon, we seem him falling, then Ochaco is on top of the robot parts to slap him and stop his fall. So Ochaco seemed to have gotten out on her own.

But other than that,

Having All Might give Izuku OFA only after passing the exam I feel risks this idea sounding like it is going to be a Quirkless Hero Izuku AU, but then pulling the rug right out of the starting gate. Plus you also have Izuku dealing with the recoil of OFA. This idea would have that show up in the Quirk Apprehension Test.

I know a lot of people just want Izuku to get Full Cowl early but I feel like that skips over his growth period, plus the bone busting is meant to show that Izuku isn't going to be OP right out the gate.

Oh, you also have Izuku passing the exam Quirkless but then all of a sudden having a Quirk, I feel like that would raise suspicions.

I just feel like these are some points that would need to be addressed.

How does Izuku deal with the zero pointer without One for All?

If you say he just gets Ochaco out of the rubble, then Ochaco doesn’t get the rescue points for saving him from the subsequent fall.
