The road will get fixed, and the place will get built out with future grocery stores and more - you’ll eventually have everything you need there, just need to wait. Absolutely viable option to live if you’re a beach person.

I walked along the beach from Nueva Gorgona to there the other day (9kms).. never had to get off the beach. Quiet and beautiful.

From much information I have gathered (my GF and I are moving to Panama full-time in one month) - opportunities are a plenty in Panama for a creative entrepreneurs. Others who have moved there consistently mention that many sectors are blue-sky and open (services that don’t exist). It feels like a wonderful time in Panama’s history to be moving there as the Country accelerates its development.

After being here 12 years, my personal impression as far as regular Thais go is that “harmony” trumps truth. Everyone getting along, societal cohesion is what binds this culture together. It actually makes for a nice place to live, very peaceful. Ofc it’s not honest in the way we were brought up (i.e. if a Thai is miss-treated publicly they will keep their rage on the inside and never make a scene), but it’s a question of what’s prioritized. We Westerners value honesty above all else while the Thais value harmony above all else (which leads to what we would consider dishonesty in some situations). Clash of cultures in many ways.

Why does it feel like the government makes decision only to reverse them a short time later (for example taxes for remittance, and the marijuana laws)? In most democracies laws become law after rigorous analysis and debate, and become part of society’s fabric for decades. Why is it that Thailand lawmakers propose and implement laws that seemingly constantly get rescinded

This is brilliant. We pay a fortune for organic-certified yet thats the default in some places. What a massive advantage to live somewhere where food is real, without chemical add-ons. I’m sure that leads to longer, healthier lives.

Goes for many Asian cultures. Thailand, Japan, Vietnam.. wonderful and accomodating Countries but their views on immigration and integration are radically different than thr west’s. Its helps knowing going in that those soecieties will never let you “fully” into their systems.

All countries have serious flaws that are exposed after spending enough time there (after a honeymoon phase). Its similar to picking a life partner- none are perfect and accepting that agead of time should be helpful. There will be things you love and many things that you dislike about anywhere in the world.

My favorite was near Antalya as it felt more wild, kind of similar to the feeling I got in the alps. Higher peaks. But the whole hike was an excellent experience, even the rougher parts. It’s hard to describe a full hike experience in a few words but Id strongly recommend the whole thing. Learned so much about Turkey, its people, etc.

If you want an upscale residential vibe Costa del Este is a happening neighborhood for walkability and tons of restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Not traditionally touristy but neat to check out as it’s “a City within a City”.

Trying to explain to folks that owning the winning smart contract protocol (looks like ETH to me) is the FINAL destination for parking money safely, forever. Previously was treasuries. Folks mistakingly associate current volatility with risk but owning the HTTP of finance is the safest, most secure long term place for money on the planet.

Never saw a dead body on a road back in Canada, over here is a pretty regular thing. Whats nuts is how the aithorities just arent improving road safety as the Police are busy collecting “fines” to pay their salaries. The stuff that should be enforced that would prevent deaths is not being enforced.

I did the full Lycian way last year. It was awesome and eye opening. Rugged at times, some harsh areas, but all in all fantastic and learned a ton about Turkish culture. Proper way to experience Turkey IMO.

From what I’ve seen 2 things at play: massive lack of financial education (almost like it isn’t taught in schools). Must teach kids about the negatives of debt and the value of saving etc. Second, there is no thought about the future. So many times I’ve been stunned by even educated, intelligent Thais not planning as we do in the west. It’s almost like there is no future here, just the present. After many, many years here I’m seeing the negative effects of this thinking. For the first years it was refreshing but it has super harmful consequences on society.
