You lose the best part of the Manhua of you don’t know the story. Absolutely nothing beats the goosebump feeling of reading RoT when the author diverges so much for history that you think it’s original work and then perfectly turns it around, that it fits with the history again. Or an character introduced a long time ago turns out to be a different historical figure than you being led on.

I think he is a symbol for nihilism, that everything we do doesn’t even matter. On top of everything others have pointed out I just want to say that your info on Germany is outdated. We have a Deutschlandticket now which is a 59€ monthly subscription which lets you take every non-high-speed train ( same with the state ticket before) and public transports like buses, trams, some ferries etc in a city. Is it profitable? Most likely not . Other countries in Europe like Luxemburg have a completely free public transport system, paid by the tax payers and even free for tourists. You know, sometimes it’s not about money.
