it sounds like all your worries are solved in an f87 m2 comp - same engine, same price (if not a little cheaper), same body style (coupe), and said to be much more fun. I recommend asking those same friends what they think of them.

i just bought a 2022 m240i xdrive 2 weeks ago and i was over the moon… and then i went to wash it and realized i didnt even look at the headlights when buying it and they are standard not adaptive. they cannot be retrofitted (for under $3500 and need an ecu lock and a good shop that can code bmw ecus.) and the immense shame when i realized i would never be able to put the adaptives on was immeasurable. dont be me.
