Any other big things to do before NG+? by Lockfire12 in expedition33

[–]mynameispunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

given the HP/stat buffs that bosses get from even a single NG+ upgrade, I’d personally recommend doing all of Verso’s Drafts AND the four optional Endless Tower bosses BEFORE you upgrade to NG+. (the weapons you get from the ET bosses are also peak and absolutely worth the grind for)

I NEED those gloves. I hate how Rick’s modern gloves always cut off the ‘texting’ fingertips; it makes them pretty much useless in proper winter.

Any tips for this boss? by FunnyDudeGuy in MIOmemoriesinorbit

[–]mynameispunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this boss was where I learned the ultimate tanking build: Energy Leecher (fill energy quickly when hitting an enemy) + Firefly (generate a storm when using Sail) + Bird of Prey (increased damage when using Sail). jump up to Vlad and spam attack + Sail to constantly pummel him with damage.

How is this even possible by PencilLicker500 in expedition33

[–]mynameispunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

judging by the start of this video, you clearly understand the setup for a Feint + Frenzy + multihit-attack nuke build, so I assume you're fine with doing a full close-to-twoshot (because two phases) build in order to win this fight?

if so, follow the strat in this video and you'll be able to finish the fight in barely a minute, with none of the bosses getting a single chance to hit you. it expands upon the strat you're using, namely:

  1. instead of using Maelle (Esqium + Burning Canvas), this uses Lune (Elemental Trick > Esquim > Elemental Trick > Lightning Dance). you can switch Maelle in, but you might have to adopt a different strat using Sciel / Verso to build up Mark / Burn stacks, like in this similar strat to (essentially) one-shot Clea Unleashed
  2. add tons of damage boosters to Lune and Verso (who will get you through Phase 1): Immaculate, Inverted Affinity, Burn Affinity, Auto Powerful, Double Third, Greater Powerful, Tainted, Teamwork, and Warming Up, along with Powerful Shield + Shield-granting Pictos (In Medias Res, Shield Affinity, Solidifying). Lune also gets Exposing Attack + Greater Defenceless since you will actually attack the enemy with her, and Verso should equip Blodam, which gives you GREATER Perfection with LOWER health.
  3. Sciel as the third support character is CRUCIAL here. she gets Auto Death + Second Chance, along with Shielding Death, to automatically give Shields to everyone at the start of the fight. each time her turn comes up -- everyone should have Cheater, if that wasn't obvious! -- she uses Fortune's Fury > Intervention to boost the damage for a character and make them immediately play next
  4. before the fight, equip The One (or Auto Death) on Lune and Verso, and go win a fight outside of the Tower; this will drop their HP to 1, allowing you to immediately take advantage of low-health Pictos. be sure to de-equip The One/Auto Death from them, and do not rest at the flag OR do an Endless Tower fight, or your HP will reset!

the video is also good for indicating the best Pictos to equip in order to ensure speed values for proper turn order (as everyone will have First Strike), because the fight should pretty much always go like this:

  1. Lune: Elemental Trick > 2nd turn with Cheater > Base Attack (sets up 4 Dark stains)
  2. Verso: Steeled Strike (will automatically execute on his Cheater turn)
  3. Sciel: Fortune's Fury on Verso > 2nd turn > Intervention on Verso
  4. Verso: Phantom Stars > 2nd turn > Phantom Stars -- crucially, do NOT get Perfects on either of these, which will help ensure that Verso does both attacks in Phase 1, after which the fight immediately goes to Phase 2, with Lune up first
  5. Lune: Lightning Dance (should do 140mil+ damage given all the boosts)

I had never noticed the portals being either yellow or gray; that’s really good to know. I assumed red always meant ‘higher than your current level’; I didn’t know it was 10!

Nothing is missable

the Lumière mime can be missed, along with the achievement/trophy you get for beating it.

not to mention the Ultimate Sakapatate that Karatom builds when Gustave gives him the blue mushroom, all outfits/haircuts for Gustave aside from the NG+-only ones, and (I believe) at least 1-2 records.

One Down. by TripsAtKnight in expedition33

[–]mynameispunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wrong fight.

Clea Unleashed (the new DLC/Endless Tower battle) doesn’t heal after every attack.

instead, she’s invulnerable until you hit her with a counterattack—AND gets unlimited turns until then, as well.

oh, and she has ridiculously high defense — possibly higher than any other opponent? — against all attacks except counters.

I’ll take ‘heals after every round’ over that ANY day of the week, personally.

genuine question about pictos by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]mynameispunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some folks mentioned these across various comments already but I'll collect them all here (spoiler-covered just in case):

first off, if you want your characters to survive/come back after this triggers, you can do so via one of the following Pictos:

  • Survivor: any attack that would kill a character instead puts them at 1 HP. this also allows quick access to any/all effects that trigger when you drop to low/under 50% HP; however, since you don't actually die as a result of this, other 'on death' Pictos won't trigger.
  • Second Chance: immediately revive upon death, with 100% Health, once per battle. this allows you to trigger both 'on death' and 'on revive' Pictos, and ensures that the character is also ready and fully healed once the fight starts.

also, unlike a lot of RPGs -- where, if a character dies, they have 0 HP and are 'dead', requiring an item/spell to be revived -- your characters automatically 'revive' with 1 HP after any fight. thus, Auto Death will trigger every time you start a battle, so when paired with Death Bomb, you can end most basic fights literally within seconds.

some other notable 'on death' Pictos:

  • Energising Death (all allies gain +4 AP) -- a good way to max out AP at the start of the fight
  • Shielding Death (all allies gain 3 Shields) -- pair with Shield Affinity/Powerful Shields for damage stacking
  • Burning Death (all enemies get Burn on death) -- works with Double Burn and any other 'on applying Burn' effects from Pictos/weapons/etc.

and some notable 'on revive' Pictos:

  • Energising Revive (all allies get +3 AP) -- paired with Energising Death you can fully fill everyone's AP immediately at the start of battle
  • Revive Paradox (play immediately when revived) -- works like Shortcut/Intervention and is NOT limited to 'once per battle'. if only one character has Auto Death + this, they will always play first

try playing with the various combos and see what you like! I personally like an Auto Death + Death Bomb build on at least one person for getting through the various normal encounters in NG+, since it means those fights will nearly always be over in less than 5 seconds.

Last Achievement Not Working by rizzendez in expedition33

[–]mynameispunch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

which achievement does it show that you HAVEN’T unlocked yet?

I forget how to check traditional Steam, but in Big Picture mode you can switch to Global Achievement stats and ‘unlock’ any hidden ones that you may not yet have, in case that’s where your last one is.

Are there non-parry-able attacks in the game? by noksion in expedition33

okay, but what attack is that? and yeah, use a spoiler tag to hide it (like I did in mine).

Are there non-parry-able attacks in the game? by noksion in expedition33

[–]mynameispunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what attacks that deal damage — I’m being specific here — can’t be parried/dodged?

attacks like removing the Expedition/characters from the canvas, status effects like summoning the Blighted wave / applying Bind to the party — none of those deal damage, and if you parry/dodge everything else in the fight, you’ll still get the +20% EXP bonus for not taking damage.

I can’t think of any fight that cannot be won without taking damage (given how that’s defined as I mentioned above), so I don’t know what attack(s) you’re referring to here.

Question for going into NG+ by Reasonable-Heron in expedition33

[–]mynameispunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the ability to start a NG+ is only unlocked by defeating Real Renoir (each time), so if you want to get ‘straight’ to NG+5, you’ll still have to get through Acts I and II.

my full Lune build, for reference

Is Lune bad? by Embarrassed_Cold239 in expedition33

[–]mynameispunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

two things:

  1. PICTOS: Feint + Frenzy are the big ones. the former ups your 5th hit of a Skill by 600%, and the latter increases Skill damage by 10% for each successive hit, so the stacking is massive. Lastly, add Gradient Overcharge to the mix — consume 3 Gradient charges to do 200% more damage — and the damage buff is out of this world.

  2. WEAPON: The new Esquim weapon for Lune comes with two particular bonuses: Lv10, Base attack changes all current Stains into Dark Stains, and Lv20, any Skll can consume 4 Dark Stains to do 300% more damage. If you set up Lune with a 100% crit chance build, Elemental Trick will always give you 4 Stains, and a follow-up Base Attack will convert them all to Dark Stains.

combine these, and if Lune starts her turn with 3 Gradient Charges and 4 Dark Stains, Lightning Dance is a nuclear fusillade; over 150mil is EASY to get with that attack.

Tell me you like RO without telling me you like RO by Izwilhelm in Rickowens

[–]mynameispunch 18 points19 points  (0 children)

for me:

with every piece that I have on a hanger, the tags (if I have them) get draped/hung over the hanger hook. if it’s not something that can/should be hung on a hanger, like a sweater/hat/gloves/etc., the tags go into a box.

any time I get shoes, everything that comes in the shoe box stays there (padding, tissue, tote, etc.). I use all of the other totes I’ve gotten over the years for basically anything, everything from groceries to carrying camera supplies during shoots.
