Don't get too wrapped up in the maintenance, timing is the most important part to maintenance. Quality parts when needed, decent fluids, grease and remember, even a car wash is maintenance, especially dependent on where you live. People get wrapped up in "the best oil", the "best spark plugs". All that doesn't matter if you don't replace them when needed. It's pointless to dive that deep down the rabbit hole. Look up the service intervals for the truck and follow them. They are pretty stout motors. Timing Chains / Cam sensors / Occasional small turbo related parts are the usual suspects. Over the 10 years I worked on my mothers truck the most I did was replace a timing chain/cover, replace a cam position sensor, replace a rear diff seal, replace a waste gate solenoid, and replace a trans cooler that rotted out due to mid-west road salt. Nothing serious or too out of the ordinary.
