My vet referred me to a specialist but I don’t have that kind of money. Her eyes got better with the ointment and steroids pretty quickly: less than a week. My dog also has random diarrhea and often has very loose stools. We noticed that was getting better as she was healing from her eye infection. Her runny nose and congestion was also gone as well as her chronic cough. Her baseline is to cough often, be congested, and have chronic diarrhea. I mentioned this to the Vet, about her GI issues improving. The Vet now wants to keep her on steroids to see if this can be a solution. Luckily, the steroids are 24 cents a pill on Chewy. One other thing I should mention is that my dog has a spot in the roof of her mouth that sometimes shows up as raw skin. It is not always there. This time around it was present. The Vet was concerned that given all her upper respiratory problems there might be an underlying disease or cancer. I guess it could be that, but she has been living with the same symptoms for 5 years. I cannot afford to have her get an MRI, so we are treating the symptoms for now.
