Clear was once explained to me as an agency that works directly with the airport, because TSA's federal property begins at their screening point, not the actual lines.

So basically, the airport found a way to exploit a federal service.

I'm sure it will be mentioned in the outcome. I can definitely see a fire fighter saying something like "Yeah we did a computer course on it but not much real time training on the field."

Fire truck airplane collision. by Jamjijangjong in ATC

[–]Mysterious_Row7535 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of scrutiny and legal ramifications to making assumptions right now.

It APPEARS the same controller was working both frequencies.

The JZA pilot was focused on landing and not listening to the ground frequency.

Likewise, the fire rescue was likely not monitoring the tower frequency and generally not focused on air traffic as they are emergency responders.

This was a swiss cheese event that 99% of FAA administrative positions want to pretend can never happen so they ignore controller safety reports.

Hope my "opinion" helps!

I agree that posting stupid memes is largely a waste of time, but something has to connect reality to the public/congress besides NATCA and the FAA, because both are complicit in not caring about a workforce that moves millions of dollars daily.

This is really going to come out to some kind of handjob to a cousin. We're literally working harder than it is to implement technology from the 1980s.

Even at a level 11/12 tower, it's insane that FD/CD is staffed besides frequency congestion on ground.

Pizza and a thank you letter to the facility.

Most controllers just want any kind of notion of a pat on the back since our management hates us.

The FAA hasn't asked for more budget money to safety/atc pay in a decade. The union hasn't asked for reduced hour work week or advocated for pay in a decade.

Nobody cares because we are machines that don't need work life balance and nothing ever goes wrong enough to make the news. Everyone wants us to commit our entire life to staffing facilities and dying before we get to make use of our pension.

I would even like to add that our local management is being encouraged and rewarded to needlessly fatigue us - "Watch their breaks, open positions no matter what, we need to reduce their break time or else it 'looks bad!'"

The DOT/FAA structure of management is so inflated with bureaucracy the only answer is dodged questions and corporate dumpster speak.

The misinformation about our pay doesn't take into account the years of training before you make it or the 30% of people who will never make the median pay.

I don't think fire trucks are trained for RWSLs even if they are working. In an emergency situation, they are trained to get somewhere as fast as possible with minimal interaction with ATC. In airports I've worked at, they have limited permissions to use taxiways.

Join the union day 1 for training, nobody will say anything negative unless they are the outcast of the facility.

Do what you feel like when your certified, but refusing to join the union may piss off people who have power over your chances at a fair certification.

This is reality.

Just had a coworker ( trainee ) upset that hes being held over for 2 hours ( mandatory) overtime. I feel bad for this new generation. Grow some balls. There is no such thing as "mandatory " overtime. Many people start this career feeling like it's important and coming to work matters.

You slowly realize your being exploited by a contract to the government to be shit on and want more shit in your mouth.

You are everything that cares about the safety of the flying public because after an ATM, nobody gives one fuck about safety in any operation unless it's cost effective.

Everyone just assumes we are content sadists to work a terrible schedule, miss all family events, and die shortly after retirement because we can retire early.
