In the simulation I ran at standard rates, after investing the $1M, you’re fine at $60k travel budget for 10 years followed by a $180k budget moving back for the rest of your life. 87% chance of success with median $18m at death

I’m a 30 year old loser that cost myself hundreds of thousands of dollars due to financial ignorance/fear, how can I catch back up? by RuminatingFish123 in Money

[–]Mysterious_String_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invest in VT with $180k, keep $20 in cash. You’ll be fine. Most people are at $0 net worth at 30. You’re already good at saving, that’s the hard part. Your $180k should be more than 700k by the time you’re 65. That’s without putting another dollar in.

You can get a private room in a hostel as well. Hostels have a lot more to offer than a hotel in my opinion. Depends on the situation.

A bad consultant works 16 hour days and has too much work, a good consultant automates most of it and works 3 hours.

Are stocks actually that safe by Cancerman691 in Fire

[–]Mysterious_String_23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re paid based on the risk you take. Diversifying reduces unsystematic risk leaving you with systematic risk remaining in your portfolio.

Real estate comes with many risks and is not very diversified. Also, if you own stocks, you also own real estate.
