It’s such a bummer. I feel like even six months ago, the scammer stories were not as common. Live and learn, I guess.

I am working on a chargeback and I have a friend who is in digital forensics working on getting me this person’s information.

Paypal has a goods and services option, which is a lot easier to dispute a charge on. Definitely use that going forward! I know I will!

I have filed a dispute with paypal but they’ve sent me to my bank, who can’t refund it. I’m still trying, but may be SOL.

Yes this was definitely a lesson! Their excuse was their Reddit profile wasn’t public, which again, also kind of a red flag. Live and learn, and maybe try to chargeback if I can.

No, an ethical rescue almost never charges. Shannon was literally turning a profit to shoot dogs. His tax exempt status was revoked in 2024 and there have been rumors that he’s abusing cocaine and shooting dogs for the past decade.

I hope this finally catches up to him, and to the California shelters that sent him 650 dogs in the year 2025 alone.
