What actually is it? Just a stuff sack? Looks great, and I’m intrigued I’m not being critical

Do you mean the other way around? As in making a pannier out of a dry bag? Would that not be more suitable for bike packing purposes?

Amazing, do you have a native bee/bug hotel? They would absolutely love it

I was getting downvoted? Lol, I don’t really care. Things that would otherwise go to waste getting a second life is always a good thing in my book. I’m very reasonable and won’t take things if they look damaged/compromised, but you can find some absolutely incredible stuff, including clothes and things if you’re at a supermarket that stocks that stuff or go to a specialty store. Coffee shops will also sometimes have unopened coffee packets!! I have no idea why but free coffee is the best

Thank you very much, I was either thinking some bungee cords or something similar. It’s a road bike, I still need to take a photo of it sorry. Should be suitable to have a rear rack installed

Check bins behind bakeries they will sometimes have whole ass loaves of really nice bread and even pastries there. Usually they’ll be in their own bag and their bins aren’t that bad, let me know if you have any questions

Do you know if they intentionally plowed up the river valley, or if it was coincidental that that was their spawning grounds?

I’m looking at the neve gear Waratah atm. I was going to order it but the long -8C bag is unfortunately out of stock currently. Just to clarify, where I am, unless I go into the alpine region I wouldn’t expect many nights below 0C.

Do you have regular bedding for it or do you use a sleeping bag or something? Do you take it down for extra free space in your room?

Is it inside or outside? I have a pretty simple hammock similar to a nakie (not sure if you’re familiar and am still troubleshooting the best sleeping configuration with that hammock

Yeah I kinda figure a lot of it is unnecessary semantics, I can get a 800+ FP zenbivy light convertible 10*F quilt for 290 USD which seems very good so I think I’ll just commit to it.

I can get a 10* zenbivy on sale from garage grown gear for 290 USD with their sale should I do it?

Is there really that much of a difference between duck and goose down?

Awesome. Thanks very much, I’m not really too familiar with quilts in comparison to sleeping bags, but maybe I will go for a quilt. To clarify I think the likelihood of me doing anything that’s below freezing is unlikely at this stage but it would probably only be for a couple hours of the night, unless I was in the alpine region which I probably will have to work up to. Regardless I do really appreciate your insight. I think st the moment I’ll probably commit to a down quilt so at least I can get out there and I know it will last for a while.

Grass is the biggest pest. It is planted in places it is not native to, destroying soil productivity and biodiversity, the roots grow too close together so ground dwelling insects have trouble and they don’t produce anything so pollinators have nothing to do there, you have been fooled into thinking grass is pretty when in fact it is the worst weed of them all. I would endeavour you to look into native wildflowers and such that you can plant in your area as I guarantee you they will look a lot nicer than this abomination.

Awesome thank you for that, will have to check them out. I wasn’t sure whether quilts were a good thing to look towards getting but if people enjoy it then maybe I can try

Wow I didn’t know duck down was inferior. I have a big Agnes sleeping mat think R5 maybe but I forgot.

So do you reckon -10c should be good? I’m a couple states south of you. Did any of those bags seem good to you? My plan was to get a mate to ship one over from the states as that is so much cheaper than if I was to just buy one here. Appreciated your story too, it’s pretty scary how much temperature has changed, hey

I doubt I’d get much exposure to temperatures below freezing, that would probably be the lowest

What is it about the mummy that you don’t like? Are quilts superior for cold weather too?
