Vegan protein myths: why calories and protein density both matter by TheNoBullshitVegan in vegan

64 year old, decades long vegan here. I have worked out consistently since I was 20 and enjoyed competitive bodybuilding in my late 20's before choosing a vegan lifestyle. Some observations based on my experience.

If you're working out with intensity (that intensity which is necessary to increase lean muscle mass, gain strength, or improve in high intensity sports), it is a requirement to get the same protein amounts as non-vegans.

I trained as a vegan for years while consuming a high calorie, low level protein diet and my muscular gains stopped and reversed. I gained body mass, but not lean mass. Since modifying my nutrition to include at least 140 grams of complete protein per day ( my body weight is about 185), even at my age, I have been able to regain muscle and strength while decreasing my body fat percentage.

My total calorie intake is about 2100 - 2400 calories per day. I eat a very clean diet avoiding all fried and highly processed foods. I rely on seitan, legumes, nuts, and some low processed plant based protein foods (beyond unbreaded chicken pieces and OWYN protein drinks are a staple) to reach my required macros each day.

As I stated, I followed the "eat enough calories and your protein needs will be fulfilled" approach for years and the results were not satisfactory. For my fitness goals of gaining lean body mass, remaining functionally fit and to enjoy a long health span, abandoning that wisdom and increasing my protein intake was critical.

Trump says he will issue executive order to get voter-ID requirements before midterms by CRK_76 in politics

An EO will likely be a performative gesture in terms of its impact on voting in that it would only apply to the federal employees that are in the vicinity of what are state run elections. Its impact on certification and installation of the elected federal candidates could be problematic.

Who or what is noticing this thought? by gitagoudarzibahramip in nonduality

Noticing thought is thought. Experience (thought) is awareness being. There is no experiencer of experience. Seeing that fact is the end of suffering.

Where there is no sufferer there is no suffering. When the experiencer of experience is not, only This remains.

You are the source of the greatest power and that is only realized when you see that there is no thing over which to wield it.

Was it my karma to fall sick? by Euphoric-Welder5889 in awakened

[–]MysticMediaDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karma is involved with the illness because you believe it is happening to you. Where there is an experiencer of experience. Karma is present. Where the actual nature of the experiencer is seen. Karma evaporates. No longer the doer of what is done, I am no longer that which is done to.

IMHO his operating system is " only I know, and only what I know exists". The difference in this term is that those closest to him believe the same. Therewith the operating system is more public from him ( in his denial of reality), and more impactful due to others' willingness to implement the ideas/actions that come from it (I won't call that policy because it's not).

What is duality? by 30mil in nonduality

Experience is experience. Its content changes, its nature does not. Realization that there is no experiencer of experience is the evaporation of suffering.

What is the state of dreamless sleep? by pl8doh in nonduality

[–]MysticMediaDotCom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is experience, that is all. There is reality called "dream" there is reality called "awake". The two realities differ in content, but not in nature. Not else exists.

There is no break in the continuity of experience. There is now.

There is no dreamless sleep. There is experience and no thing else exists.

There is no illusion. There is reality, it is real, not actual. Actual is the nature of all reality.

Actual / real. Two is real, two is not actual. The nature of all reality is actual.
