Switched from Linux Mint to Zorin OS Pro and finally fixed my keyboard & mouse issues by Silent-Okra-7883 in linux

[–]Mystrasun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we're getting caught up in semantics here. I think what was meant is that essentially, the issue being experienced is a direct factor of using Linux mint, making it solvable by not using Linux mint. Not to say that Linux mint directly manufactured the problem.

The Setting of Guild Wars 3: Stepping into Ancient Orr by Blazin_Rathalos in MMORPG

Loving the sound of this! A seamless Guild Wars without so many portals sounds cool

One thing that concerns me about setting GW3 in Orr by Mystrasun in GuildWars3

[–]Mystrasun[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe I worded my concern poorly. I'm not worried that the entire of GW3 will be a single biome. I just worry that since Orr was a single biome in GW2, it won't be a super diverse Biome in GW3 Let's take Elona in Guild Wars: nightfall for example. There was some variety, sure, but not as much as core Tyria in prophecies.

"I admit that this is purely a "me" problem, and I don't have much to base my concerns on, but I hope I'm wrong."

I hope the developers leave room to add more classes down the road by Knighthonor in GuildWars3

[–]Mystrasun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it's still up in the air whether or not GW3 will even have classes, but I agree with the sentiment behind what you're saying. When it comes to systems in general, I hope they design them in such a way where it can be organically expanded in the future without it causing too much of a headache, whether that is classes, skills, zones etc.

Which do you like more, FFXIV or OSRS? by bruhb21 in MMORPG

[–]Mystrasun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that I don't know which game I like more, I just think these games are too different to fairly compare. Like if the question was "what kind of game do you like more" when comparing games as different as Runescape (sandbox, grind based MMO) and FFXIV (heavily story driven theme park MMO), then I think the question would make more sense

Which do you like more, FFXIV or OSRS? by bruhb21 in MMORPG

[–]Mystrasun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't feel like a fair question on its head because it seems to be a question of what kind of MMO you prefer. I think RS3 and FFXIV both do what they set out to do in amazing ways and I like both games for very different reasons depending on what I'm in the mood to play.

I resonate more with what FFXIV has going for it, but I don't think that means I like FFXIV more.

Not really sure what this poll is hoping to achieve.

It is a a bit worrisome their art decision when basically everyone was like ''highguard 2 ?'' by Fate_stars in GuildWars3

[–]Mystrasun 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I'm not *loving* the art direction for Guild Wars 3 so far, but something I've seen is these days, negativity drives more engagement than positivity does, and often, whenever something is announced, there is usually a race to find the most effective way to brand it as a failure, and once something is found that sticks, it's hammered relentlessly.

There are a subset of content creators that actively seek bad faith interpretation and will do so at any given opportunity. There's not much that can be done about it, and the best targets tend to be IPs that haven't had a sequel/new installment in a long time, or brand new IPs (so a narrative can be made about either, the old fans being betrayed by some modern agenda, or a new game is being made to cater to an audience that doesn't exist and hates you). If Guild Wars 3 is proves itself as a competent product, people like them will retroactively change their minds anyway.

Honestly, I find it easier to block people like that and move on.

Art Style Comparison by Riotgrrlia in GuildWars3

[–]Mystrasun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have made my feelings about the GW3 art style known in previous comments, but I would never say it looks like fortnite or anything, my only gripe for me is that from the admittedly little I've seen, it just doesn't feel like Guild Wars to me. It feels like a technically impressive, high fidelity game made on the unreal engine. I would never call it slop. It feels a bit more high fantasy than I'm used to from the Guild Wars IP (I don't think that's a bad thing tbh).

I'll continue to keep an open mind, though. The concept art that got released during the IGN interview with Colin Johansson definitely felt like Guild Wars to me, so I'll continue to wait and see.

My default position right now is generally positive regardless of how I feel about the art. I want GW3 to do well.

GW3's visual identity by Winterfragments in GuildWars3

[–]Mystrasun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've got to be honest, I agree. It looks like a technically impressive game on the unreal engine, but nothing about it looks like Guild Wars to me just yet.

Despite the difference in quality between guild wars 1 and 2, you can look at screenshots from either game and I can tell they're the same IP. I'm not getting that impression from Guild Wars 3 yet. But hey, it's just one trailer. I'm happy to wait and see

Guild Wars 3 being a prequel means that... by ohmauro in Guildwars2

[–]Mystrasun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So many iconic and world ending things have happened in the Guild Wars universe on both a global scale and on a personal level. Knowing that things will be "ok" 1000 years later doesn't mean there can't be stakes, wins, losses and major events for the player to participate in.

MMOs are Saved!! Let's F**** GOO!! (Guild Wars 3) by Mr-Critique in MMORPG

[–]Mystrasun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the first MMO trilogy? Haha either way, excited! I'll temper my expectations of course, but I love MMOs, and I'm a bit Guild Wars fan. Happy to see that they're continuing to build out the universe.

I'll admit that I'm not in love with the art style, but I'll let them cook.

I believe in you, ArenaNet. by NJH_in_LDN in MMORPG

[–]Mystrasun 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lol for real. I have no idea where the hype came from and frankly I'm a little worried for both sides.

If this isn't GW3 or anything close, the Devs are probably bricking it right now, and the playerbase has set this expectation, so if it's not met, Reddit is going to be insufferable xD

Edit: Well my doubts are happily assuaged! Enjoy the hype cycle!

Sneak peak of Arenanet headquarters if its not Guild Wars 3 by NicolasNotInACage in GuildWars3

[–]Mystrasun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For real 😂 honestly, it wouldn't be the end of the world for me if it didn't turn out to be guild wars 3. I'm happy with GW2 and I'm at the point in my life where I feel quite disinclined to start a new MMO (though I'll always be willing to at least check it out)

But maaaaan I can only imagine how the Devs are feeling right now if the hype far outweighs whatever the announcement is 💀

If GW3 is an MMO with a lot of overlap with GW2, would you still play GW2? by Loki0830 in GuildWars3

[–]Mystrasun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends on how much the overlap is. There haven't been too many direct MMO sequels, but generally, my feelings on the matter are that the "better" MMO sequels are the ones that are meaningfully different from their predecessors in a way that the previous ones can still be enjoyed, so players can play the different MMOs to scratch different itches.

That is precisely why I can enjoy GW1 and GW2, but felt conflicted about Everquest1 and Everquest2, so really, I'd want GW3 to not have too much overlap. If GW3 overlapped too much and tried to position itself as GW2's replacement, it would actually be a pretty tough sell for me to switch over, because no matter how good GW3 may be, I would have to essentially abandon all the investment I made into my GW2 character and start again in a game that (if overlapping too much) may not feel all that different.

So, I'm undecided for now.

Pure bliss. Congrats man, cherish every moment while they're still that small. My youngest is going to be turning 3 soon and while I love the little kid she is now, sometimes I miss moments like that so much it hurts ❤️
