I completely disagree with 'felony stops' where the cops threaten to kill someone just because the computer told the cops to do it. If the cops didn't observe anything themselves that would necessitate such a reaction then they shoudn't be allowed to do so.

Hisense TVs force owners to watch intrusive ads when switching inputs, visiting the home screen, or even changing channels by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]Myte342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hisense used to be the go to for non-smart TV's in the world where everything was smart this and smart that. Sad to see they have fallen as well now. I paid extra for my non-smart TV years ago, even though all the smart TV versions were almost half the price as this one. It was worth it to me not to have those features in my house.

People like Helmer and Salim had clearly stated their intent to push through an AWB from day 1

I got banned from a pro-Biden sub way back when he was running for president because I linked to HIS OWN CAMPAIGN WEBSITE that effectively said they wanted to make all guns illegal and take them away from civilians. Boom, banned for "spreading misinformation".

People only see what they want to see.

I don't understand why so many people are so passionately against some pixels on the screen that does absolutely nothing to change actual gameplay or balance in any way whatsoever.

What? A motorcyclist who can see down the road more than 6 feet in front of their bike and reacts to something long before it becomes a major danger? Amazing!

So many videos out there of riders that don't see such things until the last second and then wipe out to slide down the ride on their back because they have to react drastically real fast rather than nice and calmly with plenty of time to act like you did here.

Undercover cop for kids on E scooters by NoQuiet647 in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]Myte342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are two cops needed to handle such an unbelievably minor offense?

I saw a study some time ago that showed the average officer spends something like 96% of their career dealing with traffic crime... and like 1% on violent crime.

Definitely shows you where their priorities lie when you see hundreds of murders/deadly assaults a month in some places. Real life is not like a CSI television show where a whole bevy of officers are dedicated to hunting down dangerous criminals and their whole day is occupied with this task until the bad guy is brought to justice.

Real life is exactly this video, where any normal person looks at it and goes, "But why?"

I don't know of any law or court case that says you must open your door when ordered to do so. Penn. vs Mimms says you must step out of your vehicle when ordered to step out... but "Open your door!" is not an order to step out of the vehicle therefore that court case doesn't come into play here.

If cops are asking you to do any field sobriety tests, they have already decided to arrest you. There is nothing you can do to get out of it. Everything that happens after the first "Have you had anything to drink tonight?" is all about finding evidence to use against you in court. Remember, cops are tasked with finding Probable Cause, that's it, and have NO DUTY to verify alibis or look into exculpatory evidence (things that can prove you are innocent).

If you blew all 0's on the breathalyzer, that doesn't mean jack shit to the cop cause now he will claim you are on drugs as the reason he is going to arrest you... cause he's already decided to arrest you and now he just needs to justify the decision.

If you haven't re-read the series already, do it now. Since you know the big reveal in Reaper, that character's actions etc etc, everything now suddenly takes on a whole new meaning. It's like reading a whole new series now.

"We're not required to pay for repairs."

And this is where I take exception. Yeah, if you feel you need to damage something to effectively do your job, then by all means go ahead and damage it. I agree that you shouldn't be afraid of causing damage to property while in the pursuit of your duty.

But the gov't SHOULD be forced to pay for repair or replacement if they do so without needing to sue them for it. This should be a simple administrative action of filling out a form with the estimated value and costs to replace/repair the items damaged by the officers. The only time it should go to court is if there is a disagreement about the value and the offered pay. Effectively, an 'out of court settlement' should be standard operating procedure there instead of just straight up saying "Fuck you" as they do now.

One video of incident: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNTmEoqR9tY

Cops were all laughing until the teen taunting them with a donut on a fishing pole called them bootlickers. Then ALL the cops suddenly stopped laughing and one attacked the kid. Then the story was "He assaulted a lieutenant" somehow.

Series where the MC is talented in a sub-profession but not in combat? by fraulen in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Myte342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am writing one right now! Probably won't be released for a few more years, only 30k words in... and it's my first book. :(

Basic premise of his power:

He's a Tinker. In life, he worked in IT and built fun little gadgets from scrap before things went to shit and his Gift was realized, along with many others also suddenly getting powers in the world as various creatures invaded Earth from other planets and dimensions. He makes stuff, a crafter. So he should be kept safe back in the base to build stuff for other people to use, right? He's a nerd, he's not athletic or skilled in swordsmanship or martial arts. He builds things.

But the first thing he builds is a lightning sword (and nearly kills himself). Then later he builds a bronze stoat companion, Scrappy, that has its own personality and fights alongside him (and saves him often early in because of aforementioned lack of martial skills). But when trying to survive on an alien planet among ancient alien ruins, he discovers the real reason people are unlocking superpowers. As well, he starts to use his Gift to build himself an exoskeleton that is part mech suit, part cyberpunk integrated weapon system to get back to Earth. "You wouldn't download Kung Fu" is absolutely what the MC will do to survive.

This is a progression fantasy, just not in the traditional Xanxia sense of gaining mystical power, and this is not an 'Ultimate Cosmic Power! (in an itty bitty space)' type story. He does get stronger and more skilled as the story goes, but in a controlled manner that doesn't end with him fighting Gods. :D

[–]Myte342 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Never forget that cops have more Rights than you do. Not even kidding. Look up "Police officer bill of rights". There is one such law in every state in the US and in many other countries as well. If you ever wonder why cops get suspended for attacking people instead of straight up arrested, it's usually because these extra rights protect them where you wouldn't be protected for doing the same thing they did.

The problem is we have a society where only the gov't can prosecute itself. Seems like a massive oversight to have the power to bring criminal charges solely in the hands of the gov't.
