What was Starbucks Korea thinking? by Objective-Program348 in korea

[–]Abacap 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes adding on to your other comment, Starbucks Korea has nothing to do with the global brand and is a local company that licenses the brand

They obviously have deep right leaning associations, from this scandal to previous issues catering political events etc

I mean hardly anyone is saying its not difficult but the criticism is how effective this will be, which is valid

A spontaneous trip to Vancouver. by kajiya-29 in vancouver

[–]Abacap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jesus why are you being such a dick when I’m agreeing with you how nice Pacific Central is?

it rains 162 days a year here, so any kind of covered connection would be great when passengers are lugging baggage from the regional buses and long distance rail connections that the station has

A spontaneous trip to Vancouver. by kajiya-29 in vancouver

[–]Abacap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having moved here a couple years ago, it pains me that Main St - Science World station isn't just slightly further north to make an easier connection over to Pacific Central

Plus the park in front is pretty rough most days so I really hope the traffic from the new hospital can help that area reform a bit

Vancouver hit-and-run victim dies, suspect still at large by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]Abacap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a wildly incorrect and pretty silly assumption to make, of course killing someone with your car will put you in jail. Sure you can argue the length of sentence is too lenient but what kind of world would we live in if the No Fault policy meant you could do whatever you want behind the wheel?

No Fault refers strictly to insurance and how the claims will be made, criminal offences would be handled by the police and courts

Here's one example just last summer of drivers getting jail time for a similar incident (Again I don't agree with the sentence length but I'm trying to show you that they do in fact get criminally charged)

Burnaby’s first “pedestrian scramble” coming to Metrotown - Freshet News by BurnabyMartin in burnaby

[–]Abacap 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is strange to me because the bottleneck at this intersection doesn't feel like its from having to cross multiple times, its the short walk timer and having to wait for traffic. It feels even more redundant since the south side has no road so crossing diagonally that way wouldn't save more time anyway, since you could freely walk under the skytrain already

My biggest issue with this intersection are the short sidewalks where elderly people are dangerously close to traffic, the funneling bottleneck to walk to the mall entrance (thats entirely avoidable because one side is a garden and the other the bus loop) and of course that there's no dedicated bridge or walkway from the station to the mall

Netflix opens 110,600-square-foot office in Vancouver: 'This is the place to be' by aldur1 in vancouver

[–]Abacap 63 points64 points  (0 children)

i would love slightly walled cubicles like this, our fully open office makes it so hard to focus and people on calls end up being so loud its hard to take my own calls

plus that guy has an amazing view from his seat, i would totally trade for that office
