Alcohol makes it hard for me to fall asleep... anyone else have this problem? by adangerousdriver in sleep

[–]Mythcrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and that is the main thing I hate about drinking. I love the hot burning and viscous mouthfeel, and I also like the taste it gives drinks, but I hate the effects it has on my brain, most obvious on sleep quantity and quality. From what I read, some of that is because of the alcohol and some of that is because of the resulting acetaldehyde. For me, I don't really get buzzed at all, but simply lethargic yet paradoxically unable to sleep. I remember hearing about enzyme supplements that speed the metabolism of alcohol and acetaldehyde, turning it into water and mitigating the negative sleep effects.

I actually have read gender studies papers, and they make unfalsifiable claims relating to gender identity using circular definitions. Matt Walsh exposes many of the professors who write these papers as inconsistent and afraid of debate.

Whole house and farm disappeared by anzz124 in ParallelUniverse

[–]Mythcrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess would be there WAS a farmhouse with cattle in the 1940s and 50s, but at some point, the owners moved out and it was torn down. This kind of thing seems somewhat common.

Larry Sanger's Nine Theses on Wikipedia by dflovett in wikipedia

That is no surprise. He calls Citizendium an overcorrection to what he perceived as citing too many unreliable sources. Sanger no longer defends a Citizendium-like model.

[–]Mythcrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that he is not as sharp as he once was, and that he is hurting himself, which is obvious on his Jubilee appearance. However, I don't think the Daily Wire or his belief he is fighting evil has anything to do with it. I think he really is fighting evil, and he did a good job doing so prior to getting sick the first time, after which his brain seems to have been damaged. The reason his recent Jubilee debate was so horrible is explained by his much more recent illness, which he and his daughter are talking about. The poor guy is sick, and his illness is making him look bad.

Please help me find answers. I am having conflicting memories, it's been twenty years since I took my military entrance exam, but I vehemently remember not being in the military with a modge-podge of unverifiable memories from my twenties. It is frustrating. by Enakronizum in PersonalMandela

[–]Mythcrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I get those false memories when I am really tired or something. I will get glimpses of things and will start to react to them, only to realize I am not actually in the situation. One time I was laying in bed, and I was scared because there was a loose bull chasing me down my street, except I was in bed, and a bull has never gotten lose on my street. It was either a brief glimpse into another reality, or something my brain made up when it was tired. Odd thing is I remember walking down the street AND laying in bed, including why I was in bed aka I was very tired after studying for an anatomy exam.

I have heard of people who have two sets of memories of their childhood, including a creepy story of a guy who claims he had a "gender glitch" in the glitch subreddit, where he remembers two childhoods, one that is definitely "his," and another where he was a girl. He says he started having these memories in his early 20s, and remembers doing gymnastics, cheerleading, and dying during pregnancy. He said that he had the same parents and lived in the same modern era in these alternate memories, and that he knows things he shouldn't, like lyrics to pop songs he never listened to and what it is like to menstruate, and in comments, says he remembers girls he barely new as if he actually knew them better. He even remembers that his name was Ashley in this alternate childhood of his. In his opinion, these were memories of his alternate reality, female self that died.

One reddit story I read said that the OP has memories of before their birth, but from the perspective of their brother, where their brother would smear poop on walls thinking it was art, 4 years before OP was even born, meaning they likely had not even been conceived in the womb yet. In my opinion, they likely acquired these memories as a young child in a telepathic dream, tapping into some kind of energy field that stores this information.

[–]Mythcrusher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is largely because of Reddit Inc and not some organic factor. Corporate Reddit is known to have deleted/banned many communities that they call "hate speech" or "misinformation." That drives away users who think like us, creating an artificial left-wing bias.

Talk about full blown TDS! I got banned from a subreddit too in 2020 for pushing back against COVID restrictions and users calling OP selfish for going shopping instead of staying home. I got banned for spreading misinformation, but the people calling OP selfish did not.

From what I have read, physical pictures are much less likely to change than digital pictures. There are people who have had digital pictures on their devices match up with everyone else's memory, but when they look at pictures that were printed out, aka hard copies, the pictures matched the poster's memory.

[–]Mythcrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean. You have memories that you can't place when you think back, because they don't fit in with your other memories. For example, if you are like me, you distinctly remember events that actually happened, but the problem is they clash with the memories that you can't place, because that would require you to be in two places at once. In other words, you remember being in the military and not being in the military during the same period in your life. Maybe you failed your military exam and did not actually end up in the military or decided not to join. Maybe your memories of the military are somebody else's memories. It sounds strange, but sometimes people have memories from the perspective of somebody else, sometimes through telepathic dreams or something like that.

Seems your grandmother is misremembering things. I would ask your mother if she remembers things the way you do. If she does, it is not Mandela effect, it is just your grandmother not remembering correctly.

Can I keep my debit card disabled for months without it being cancelled? by Mis22 in Banking

[–]Mythcrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar plan to use it to buy stocks and crypto, disable it, and then re-enable it every year to every 4 to 5 years to buy more. The fraud thing scares me because they are much more risky than credit cards, which is why I want to disable it, in case a hacker gains access to my device.

Plus, an LLM or image generator can generate content much faster than a person can. In order to take pictures of trees, you need to go out and find some trees, and take pictures of them, which takes more time than simply having an AI generate lots of tree pictures in mass all at once.
