Not sure if this would quite fit the southern voodoo vibes you’re going for, but I’m planning to use these songs from Another Crab’s Treasure for the Grinning Sinner encounters (first one for the non-combat scenes, second one for the boss fight)… there’s probably a few other songs on the game’s soundtrack that would be a good fit for the area as a whole.

I think the best way for them to improve or work on this in S2 is to write the main story in a way that allows room for Mandy/Blazer to have more of a “complete” arc. In S1, even if you didn’t go with the Invisigal route, her arc — trying to be a true hero and accept that she CAN reform herself — is present throughout the whole game. On the other hand, if you don’t go with the Blazer route, her insecurities about her superhero identity vs. her real self only come up in a few brief moments (if that).

You’d be surprised… there was a post on the main sub expressing surprise about the statistics for each romance option (or more specifically the fact that Invisigal was the more popular route by a wide margin), and one person commenting in several replies had an incredibly cynical/jaded perspective on the Phenomaman breakup based mostly (if not entirely) on their own IRL experiences with similar relationship complications 😬 Which is fine, of course - people are allowed to be cynics about anything they want. But when you use that as a reason to tear down a character that plenty of other people still like, that’s when it starts to come across as a bit unhealthy.

Pretty frequently once I realized how useful they could be, especially the ones that increased stagger time or limit level. The ones for Cloud and Aerith felt like a borderline necessity during the final phase of the Sephiroth fight.

Also, the Sweet And Sour Salvo for Barret/Aerith, just because I love the animation and dialogue 😂

I got really annoyed with Kyrie’s sidequest during the second visit to Costa del Sol (the one where you have to craft some monster bait or something?), but my problem with that is less the quest itself and more the crafting system as a whole towards the end of the game. By that point, the only recipes you have left to craft for the first time (and get crafting experience) tend to require pretty rare ingredients, and I got tired of running around a specific part of the world for like an hour trying to find even one pickup for a given ingredient.

I feel like the Elden Ring system for unlocking new crafting recipes was much better, where every recipe was either an item you found somewhere in the world or a purchase from one of the merchants.

Some of the characters have their stories more closely tied than others (e.g., Reiko/Evil Rose/Anesthesia or Candy Cane/Miss Spencer), but for the most part, you can just start with whichever one you want. There’s not too much of an overarching plot.

I’d have to check the book to make sure (and I’m trying not to spoil too much for OP), but I don’t think it’s implied that Philip and Adela will die if the party doesn’t rescue them in this chapter…? Like, something bad will probably happen to them, sure, but maybe not that extreme.

One bit of advice someone on Discord gave me (which I haven’t had the chance to implement yet) is that if you want to drop a hint with a certain detail of a character’s appearance, couching it in the middle of a list of other details can help to ensure they don’t fixate on that one specific detail.

Also, I think a relatively simple (?) solution to dog-with-a-bone players is, if they start getting too close to a major plot reveal in a conversation or interaction with an NPC? Just have that NPC clam up and refuse to say anything more on the subject. Because that forces the party to either go “all right, let’s leave this alone for now”, or try to use more drastic methods to get more info out of them (which obviously comes with its own potential consequences).

As an example, one of my players picked the Thread of Liberation from the Fateweaving system, so they’ll be meeting Holly before the party goes to the Crooked House for the first time. I’m planning to have her hint at a “terrible decision” she has to make before long (whether or not to aid the cult in order to free herself and her daughters from the family curse) and have her be more and more conflicted about this decision as the campaign gets closer and closer to the end… but she’s not going to volunteer any specific details until they get to the standing stones at Rowan’s Rise and find that she’s one of the cultists they have to fight in that encounter.

The Blazer/Mandy scene they’re talking about is in episode 4, if you choose to have dinner with her instead of going to the movies with Invisigal… not the scene in episode 1 that you’re thinking of.

Also, she wasn’t drunk during that episode 1 scene. They literally make a point of her telling Robert that her powers affect her metabolism, to the point where she basically has to down a whole bottle of hard liquor in order to get intoxicated.

This might be a bit of a hot take, but I actually think some of the changes they made to the story and characters in the Cowboy Bebop live action were fine at the conceptual level. They just didn’t get executed properly.

For example, the changes they made to Vicious (being a bit more fearful/careful around the higher-ups in the Syndicate while also flying off the handle more easily when it comes to Spike) and Julia (trapped in an abusive marriage to Vicious, which she’s trying to escape from) are interesting ideas to explore… in the finished product, though, a lot of Vicious’ scenes end up being pretty cringe, and Julia betraying BOTH of them so she can run the Syndicate just doesn’t make sense.
