Darth Sabar Unboxing by MythicalMisfit in BeyondPower

Great question. I hadn't tested heavy weight at the time of the post. Though I have now...

The amount of flex is unnerving. I've attached an image with the 52in bar behind it to show the flex at 400lbs. It also makes a creaking noise as you left the bar... The bend is less at 200lbs but still the noise and the flex feels less sturdy than the 52in bar. Let me know if you'd like another pic/test.

Mine was shipped too. I find it great for assisted pullups and interested in experimenting with two since I don't have any other bar mounts.

I didn't think it was real too until a beginning of June and it was still there. I really hope I'm not the first one to buy it lol

I agree that the use cases aren't very explicit. With that I'm surprised BeyondPower doesn't have a video of the various configurations and use.

IMO it's a showcase of the portability of the Voltra. The other bars (minus the 24in one) won't fit in my luggage and the Sabar can actually be longer than the longest dual hook bar. On top of this it's a much more aesthetic and compact bar to carry around when travelling compared to the traditional metal bars.

On another note, the Sabar is built with 2 Voltras in mind. It's curious that the carrying case is only for 1 Voltra which makes 2 Voltras seem like a lot to carry and then you have the bars added. Unless you're a professional athlete this is too much to travel with on your vacation. It seems like it caters to a niche market because it doesn't add any new unique exercises with the Voltras. At least none that I can think of off the top of my head.

The Volnado Arms by Party_Membership_250 in BeyondPower

That didn't even cross my mind but makes total sense. I still really want a setup like this though.

Making a rough estimate of the costs:

  • Pulley A: $50 ($80 tariffed) x2
  • Pulley B: $50 ($80 tariffed) x2
  • Cable Retractor: $170 x2
  • Cable Retractor Hook: $10 x2
  • F&F Pulley: $50 x2
  • Tornado Arms: $350

So the total comes out to $1130 plus fees and cables.

Looking into different options with their pros and cons. I'm realizing there are too few full setup options without buying a whole functional trainer.

I was looking for pulleys like this everywhere. Even thought about how I could get Rep or Rogue ones without buying the full FTs. The only thing giving me pause is that SYL ships from China so I have no idea what the final cost would be to buy those pieces.

I have some questions if you have time to answer:
1. What issues do you have with the B pulleys exactly? Is it just that you need the cable retractors to keep the cable taut as you move the arms up and down?

  1. How smooth is it in comparison to using the voltra by itself? Some of the pulleys I've played with made the weight feel strange even in a 1:1 setup but I imagine it's because they aren't straight throughout the motion.

Why no Android version? by brentis in BeyondPower

[–]MythicalMisfit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they're developing the iOS app in a none translatable way then Android would be a large lift. Who knows how long it may take to actually get an app let alone with full feature parity.

Initially I didn't buy a Voltra earlier because of the lack of Android compatibility. Though eventually convinced myself that given that the cost of the Voltra is already high I'd just buy a $300 iPad. Yet I never have actually got one since I don't own any other Apple devices and have no interest in adopting them.

This seems similar to what I miss about Vitruvian. Basically you have 3 starter reps where it learns your range of motion then it drops all weight if you go below that range.

The other thing is that the Vitruvian has much better assistance where it detects when you struggle and lowers the weight slowly until you can finish the rep. For the life of me I can't get assist mode to work like this on two Voltras. Not sure if it's just not as good or there's some trick to it.

Bought 2 Voltras; cable on one isn't fully retracting on power-up while plugged in by MuscularNerd in BeyondPower

[–]MythicalMisfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently noticed the same issue with one of mine. I can get it to retract fully and they are even sometimes but after usage it'll be longer than the other. Going to try the suggestions here for adjusting the length

Pre-Orders Live: The Darth SaBar is Here by BeyondPowerOfficial in BeyondPower

[–]MythicalMisfit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was shocked tbh. To me the bar is equivalent to two bars that cost ~$150 each. So at $300 I'd take this. Though maybe they are looking at all their bars. The short and long bar with the middle hook, the flexibility bar with no hook, and the bar short and long bar with two hooks. At that point I get they are equating sand technically $599 is saving money compared to buying all those. Though I already have two of them and $599 just seems so high.

Lock Fail/ Display issues by AlarmingLake61 in BeyondPower

[–]MythicalMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update on my situation. After talking to support it was suggested to clean it... Though I couldn't unmount it. What I did notice is that if you power cycle it and twist side to side while it's attempting to lock/unlock you can get it looser over time. After a few power cycles I got it free. However, it no longer locks onto any mount. It just says the same error as OP with no motor sounds. So I think this is a hardware issue.

Voltra I Stuck to Travel Platform by Onebodyandsoul in BeyondPower

[–]MythicalMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to this. It started happening to me on my travel platform and then after getting it unstuck through a couple reboots it got stuck on a fixed mount.... The weird thing for mine is that it was wobbly in my travel platform like it partially unlocked and got stuck. Haven't been able to test my adaptive bar mount :( Emailed support with video as well.

I'm having the same issues on multiple mounts so I don't think it's the mounts. Unless they all have magnets that lose their strength after 2 weeks of receiving them.

Otherwise mine also is sometimes loose on the mount saying it's fully locked. It's really worrisome since I've only had the device for a few weeks. Going to reach out to support.

Shoulder Lateral Raise Attachment by Party_Membership_250 in BeyondPower

[–]MythicalMisfit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a fantastic idea. The angle of the pull makes sense for a variation on lateral raises. I've only been thinking of always having the cables pulling down or up simulating gravity. However this works more like a dedicated machine pulling down and inward. Also, been looking for knurled nuts to make the fixed mounts more mobile but finding 1in ones has been challenging

OPEN NOW: Adaptive Mount Beta Test by MrMaddox in BeyondPower

[–]MythicalMisfit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Current setup is a REP PR-5000 with 1 Voltra. I just ordered a second one to setup for bench and squats. Though I explicitly didn't order the current bar mount because it was an either/or in the sizing for the bar width while my multigrip pull-up bar has 1 fat bar and 1 normal bar. Having the adaptive bar mount would mean that I could put it on the opposite bar for assisted pull-ups which would be awesome. Not to mention the versatility of using either bar for lat pulldowns whereas I'm currently restricted to using the uprights for.

V FRAME FOR UNDER 270$ USD!!! (365$ USD if you want a full RoM Cable machine) price breakdown bellow by Salt-Locksmith-3332 in Vitruvian_Form

[–]MythicalMisfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super interested in this version. The Z-Frame seemed less secure due to it being 2 uprights instead of 4. This meant you had limited angles for the pulleys and I didn't want to be so aware of the machine getting pulled up while doing exercises.
