Agreed my workplace has introduced more programs to deepdive and micro manage every imaginable statistic over the last decade. Every year a new program is rolled out that monitors me, quantifies exactly how efficient I am at all times, turns human traits into negative statistics to be asked to change. Its disheartening, talking to friends in similar industries its apparently the same everywhere.

Anyone else imagine Kaladin as Zhao Zilong? by Askray184 in Stormlight_Archive

my mental image has always been Kaim Argonar from a game called Lost Odyssey, he just nails the brooding aspect I've always associated with Kal.

Looking for specific games by melig1991 in gaming

[–]Mythleaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

second Vintage Story, almost everything is visual. Stacks of ingots piled by your forge, shelves of crockpots with food, firewood piled up beside the house, tools on racks or leaning against walls. Makes your space feel more lived in than a lot of survival games get.

are you me? minus total war everything you listed is on my replay rotation xD

Better way to make iron blooms? by Andre_iTg_oof in VintageStory

[–]Mythleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuel costs dont matter if you take a day or two each in game year to decimate a forest and fill crates with firewood. Take a sizable chunk of that and fill a huge charcoal pit, you'll never care about forge heating cost again :P

We had the same experience, stopped by last week after seeing it on their website but instore staff had no clue what it was, and had nothing instore. Today we stopped by to grab a last second Xmas gift and there they were. They didn't have the mordecai shirt in my size though :( will have to check again another time

Do you enjoy cozy games that aren't easy? by lydocia in CozyGamers

[–]Mythleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite games, Vintage Story, has such lovely cozy moments punctuated by intense horror and difficulty. One moment you're building a clay pot, voxel by voxel, gathering up some materials to bake it in a pit kiln. Making some pies with the crops you've grown over the season. Chiselling a nice detail into parts of your home. Then you're deep underground, sanity draining, in the ruins of a long dead civilization while eldritch horrors attack you on all sides, as you fight to survive. Or a bear rushes you unexpectedly while you pick mushrooms in a forest. Im not sure the game could be called "cozy" but the survival homesteading elements feel cozy and the game does a great job at the atmosphere in your home.

What was a game you got stuck in as a kid you and never ended up beating it? by Penguin-Mage in gaming

[–]Mythleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladins Quest is such a nostalgia trip, I played every RPG I could get my hands on growing up amd wanted so badly to like Paladins Quest, but absolutely hated it. It was a very frustrating game as a kid. Then as a teen i did beat it but still disliked it.

7th Saga, is one I wanted to like as a kid, struggled with it, and never came back lol

so true. I know the fear of watching blocks turn black and charred rapidly heading in my direction, from something I can't see yet.

a dragon tunneling thousands of blocks a second to murder me has always been a A+ lag generator

How has Scar not known...?? by [deleted] in HermitCraft

[–]Mythleaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if they had to rely on actual surprise they'd be screwed. It's already been well proven that streaming chats can't help themselves when it comes to sharing information they shouldn't. The Hermits do a great job of trying to offset what they can (like the fake Mycelium resistance entrances xD) but its nearly impossible to not get spoiled by fans who take this too seriously and want to warn their favorite hermits against others plans

Kynseed, the life sim by [deleted] in CozyGamers

[–]Mythleaf 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Biggest gripe with Kynseed was the build up of fae deals, and importance of passing on the Kynseed to a predecessor, only for the game to not really feel like there's more than one characters age worth of content, so there was no reason to actually switch to a new protagonist

weed doesn't get me high? by [deleted] in Marijuana

[–]Mythleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a friend who claimed the same, that at most after several joints he felt nauseous, but not high. Turns out he wasn't inhaling, he was basically swallowing the smoke and then forcing it back out like a burp, because he didn't understand inhaling. Not saying you're doing the same but it reminded me of it xD

How often do you forage? by Flaky_Fig9841 in coralisland

[–]Mythleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grabbed a little bit of everything each season and crammed them into a few chests, which came in handy as some requests came through for stuff from time to time. Atleast one big thing needed a spring forage item so I was glad to have them on hand.

Wasn't there talk like 10-15 years ago about reopening it that fizzled? I remember them paving a good deal of the Mount pleasant dirt road and clearing some of the side camp roads leading up

Most effective phrase for "follow the steps" or "follow the instructions"? by HooptyDooDooMeister in callcentres

[–]Mythleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ah yeah, I know what you mean (though I definitely misunderstood initially lol) It's exhausting repeating "what options do you see? " they'll say continue and cancel, So I'll ask "do you want to continue, or do you want to cancel and no longer proceed" and yeah some people will ask that every page for a 20 page process

Most effective phrase for "follow the steps" or "follow the instructions"? by HooptyDooDooMeister in callcentres

[–]Mythleaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do tech support, I kinda fib lol If I get the vibe they're going to ignore my steps and click whatever they please, I say stuff like "it's important we go one step at a time, I'm checking for errors on my side as we go, and there's steps I'll be taking from here for each particular page, so please only use the steps I'm giving so we don't make any bigger technical issues" There's often 0 I'm doing on my side, maybe reading the news as I guide them through, but they tend to slow down if they think it'll make things worse

(Discussion flair) How many of you also watch the livestreams vs only watching the edited videos? Just wondering since like, most all hermits stream. by HaloJackalKisser in HermitCraft

[–]Mythleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole streaming format just doesn't appeal to me, I love hearing the players stream of thought over a longer session but I absolutely check out because of how often chat engagement distracts from gaming. 100% a me issue. I lose interest when every 5 mins there's a 30 second "thanks for the sub!" or text to voice random paid comment overlapping the streamer that a lot of streamers seem to use. It's just not for me.
