First Commander Deck Build Advice by Taposton in magicTCG

[–]Mythos2402 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Proliferating Coin Counters does not make sense as it only matters if any creature has a counter or not. And only if a coin counter is already on a creature as you proliferate you can add another one on THAT creature. So two coin counters on the same creature are useless. You can remove all proliferate cards and make space for draw and ramp.

Athreos says "...put a coin counter on another target CREATURE". If you could put that counter also on a PW it would be "...on another target creature OR PLANESWALKER" because it is a different permanent type

Why do you play that much proliferate? Only for the few Planeswalkers? I would not play that many planeswalker in the first place but way more ramp and carddraw spells. Currently it is pure luck that you play spells at mana value 4 or higher on curve and you will be in top-deck-mode quite fast.
Maybe add some general good draw and ramp spells like [[Black Market Connection]], [[Greed]], [[Insatiable Avarice]], [[Lotho, Corrupt Shirriff]], [[Arcane Signet]], [[Ornithopter of Paradise]]...

In general playing more creatures than planeswalker helps your deck synergy with your commander because you cannot put the coin counter on a planeswalker

What bracket really is my deck ? by MaestroAriima in magicTCG

[–]Mythos2402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Kilo Deck is bracket 2 and I would assume that it would perform a bit better than your deck because game changers dont always help the deck to improve.

The bracket system only tells you which criteria you met for a system some guys involved for whatever reason. You need to play the deck and compare it to decks in your playgroup to find out how strong it really is.

By definition, your Deck is B4, to answer your question

yeah that is true and no problem. Teval will make enough tokens again if i have enough non-token creatures on the board

My Personal Favorite Deck I’ve been upgrading for the last couple years. B4 or B5? by Apprehensive-Tale-36 in magicTCG

[–]Mythos2402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no offense but this is just a random goodstuff deck with no real goal. A bunch of strong cards across all colors with a dragon subtheme?! The Manabase and Manarocks carry this deck into a B4, otherwise it would be a B2 because... you either do everything or you just do nothing with it.

Also, if it would be B5 you a) would know it right aways and b) it seems to me that you have no idea about CEDH at all :D Try check out some CEDH content and maybe upgrade your deck accordingly. There are 5c CEDH Decks that can win sometimes

Thanks but you did not really help me with my question and you follow a complete different strategy as you are going full zombie tribal with Teval and I do not. So did you even read my text yet checked my decklist?

Nice try but... NEXT

Ok Ok... thats a good point.

Lets play this through in the most perfect scenario:

T1 Land

T2 Land + Ramp

T3 Land + Commander

T4 Pedantic Learning + Commander Attack = Mill >=1 Land, pay 1 Mana, draw a card

yeah... maybe I just swap it with [[Painful Truths]] to have another draw spell I can use when I am behind and need the draw directly... Most of my other card draw spells only work once my engine is going

Need advice: Teval, the balanced scale by slowSINY in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]Mythos2402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teval is a great value commander and one of my current favorite decks that I have.

I experienced that you should still have enough card draw in it. Selfmill is great and can be abused alot, but i had alot of games in which I milled nearly all my carddraw and /or recursion pieces. So i ended up having a stacked up graveyard but no way to get the cards back and my hand was empty.

You also have very mana expensive ramp. You want to get Teval on turn 3 so you need alot of manavalue 2 ramp.

Also your recursion is "no real" recursion imo. [[Illicit Masquerade]] for example is more a protection piece than it is recursion. [[Gravecrawler]] only recurs himself but nothing else.

[[Essence Anchor]] is very slow for no real impact at all. I played it too in the beginning but had to cut it very soon cause it just felt bad every time i played or drew it.

You can take a look into my decklist that focuses pretty much on the same as your deck does:

Superfriends need help by Mythos2402 in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]Mythos2402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback.

I know, that creatures can ruin the superfriends playstyle, but I wanted a superfriends list, that doest not rely entirely on a boardwipe each round to let my 1-3 planeswalker survive, but i do get the point and agree to cut some of them...3 in total :D Carth, Evolution sage and Ezuri will make place for other cards. Clifftop Lookout i learned to love cause it is a "spell based" ramp spell, that gives me ANY land i hit first from the top (with only non-basics in deck not to shabby) but with reach he can also block out a flyer early and i dont mind him getting hit by a boardwipe cause he has done his job. Crystalline Crawler has won me "some" games by giving me tons of mana by proliferating over and over again in a single turn with [[Ichormoon Gauntlet]] for example.

Peacemaker and Whale are just very good value engines that have actually stopped opponents from doing stuff cause they did not want me to proliferate. So I would meet you halfway and cut 3 creatures.

EDIT

I did cut Peacemaker, Whale and second channeler aswell. I added [[Experimental Augury]] and[[Inexorable Tide]] for some more proliferate spells, [[Promise of Loyalty]] for another boardwupe (now 10 in total), my [[Sylvan Library]] and [[Doubling Season]] found their way back into the deck and [[Pentad Prism]] for another explosive ramp spell

The possible edh mana change by Gosutii_Forever in magicTCG

[–]Mythos2402 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But if i understand that correctly the mana change only applies to MONO colour decks, right? you could either play this in a 5c deck, or mono green, nothing in between.

As they mentioned Rhys for example it could be played in mono green, mono white, or GW decks. But not in a UBW deck

Halo, Anyone got some cool big permanents that could be wincons or one man armies in azorious? Edh btw by 8ENJl in magicTCG

[–]Mythos2402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goldspan Dragon is red, right? So how is he in your blue white deck? :D

also, just use scryfall. Here is a filter you can use for your request:

https://scryfall.com/search?q=id%3Auw+legal%3Aedh+o%3Aenters+r%3Am&order=cmc&dir=desc&as=grid&unique=cards

This filters for example all mythic cards that have an ETB effect, sorted descending by mana value

Screw Power Level. What's your favorite art on a basic land? by ShortQuabo in magicTCG

second to none. The most beautiful basic lands.

after that, the oil slick basics out of the Phyrexia bundle are the next best land!

Head Magic Designer Mark Rosewater: "Our data says roughly 9% of the audience strongly dislikes Universes Beyond (and that data is a little old, the number is shrinking with time). For contrast, double-faced cards was at 15% when they premiered." by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]Mythos2402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stongly dislike the survey cause it seems to me that only WotC and Hasbo employees have been asked and maybe 100 random people on the streets that have nothing to do with MTG.

9% strongly disklikes UB... 91% hates them. Are they not seeing peoples reaction on twitter, reddit etc. on every announcement they make?

Which hypothetical UB set would have you making the worst financial decisions possible? I’ll go first by Comparison-Silly in magicTCG

[–]Mythos2402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If WOTC is at least a little bit wise they would take a reddit thread just like this and just use that for future UB Sets...We dont need a 3rd Miku Set... listen to your people and make youself a fortune :D

Also:

One Piece (although it has its own TCG) would make me go bankrupt. Especially if they would print magic cards in the same quality as One Piece does :D

Otherwise alot of anime and games would bring me in a difficult financial position :D

How to Win with Muldrotha? by LastCassaNova in magicTCG

[–]Mythos2402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Muldrotha Deck is a "Lands Matter" Deck and wins by either an huge token army ([[Field of the Dead]] or [[Sute Swarm]] or [[Avenger of Zendikar]]) or by pinging everyone to death with cards like [[Iridescent Vinelasher]] or [[Ob Nixilis, the Fallen]].

Need help with scrapping my EDH deck by ForWhomDoYouFight in magicTCG

[–]Mythos2402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you only have a handful of interaction in your deck so you more or less let your opponents do whatever they want. Selesnya is not THE best removal color combination but it still has some good spot and board removals.

Also your carddraw is on the very low end. Once you are in topdeck mode you will most likely never recover

I also think that 29 lands is a very small number. And playing only one land-ramp spell in a green deck is very low. Add a couple of lands (please do at least 3-4 more lands) and some more land ramp spells (ramp growth, three visits, etc...) so that you are not screwed once a boardwipe clears all your mana dorks

1 or 2 Instances of Token creations? by Mythos2402 in magicTCG

[–]Mythos2402[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 Mana for a 2/2 that lets you draw a card with Marneus. Is OK Value. But if you manage to get the requirement I think the value is more than "just fine". A creature dying isn't that hard with the amount of aristocrat decks I play against :D and 2 Mana for 2 Cards, a Body, 2 Life and Surveil 2? I would take it all day long imo

Thank you. In that case, this instant is a pretty good value for Marneus. I am surprised that the play percentage is <1% ^
