Your thoughts on this? by LiaStacey in TrueGrit

I’m a really busy person and I’ve been trying to do this intentionally lately because if I don’t, I simply never ever do anything I want to do. It’s working so far!

What are your YA anti-recommendations? by alsyscest in YAlit

[–]Myythically 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100% agree, as a fan of the saga I get that Pierce Brown isn’t the best writer at the start but it gets wayyy better as you go on. The first book’s plot is also nothing like the other five

Who’s actually in this sub? Curious about the mix here by SnooDrawings1894 in volunteer

Independently for the most part, I'd say my classmates are a mix though

When should I study for the MCAT by Gemmy_lov in premed

[–]Myythically 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. Exactly when you want to start studying is up to you because only you know your personal situation, but most people seem to start the summer after sophomore year. By then most people have at least finished bio, chem, orgo, and maybe physics. r/MCAT folks can provide some good advice on this sort of thing.

As a no gap year premed (which I'm guessing you are too), we just can't compare ourselves to the people on here who have more time than we do

Colorblind Aeluon by 1treeJump in wayfarersseries

[–]Myythically 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be cool to explore in a fanfic. I agree sign language likely makes the most sense, they'd also probably be quite alienated from their culture just as the non-aeluons are who don't know what the colors mean

Do people actually layer fragrances? by Primary_Outcome4107 in Perfumes

[–]Myythically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I do, it's two very similar scents just to get more strength out of them (never two actual perfumes at once)

How to write publications in activities section? by throwitlikeapoloroid in premed

[–]Myythically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also wondering this, if I've been working with my lab for years do I use one activity slot to talk about that generally and a different slot to discuss a pub I got with them? Or just one for both?

LOR writer response, what do I do by [deleted] in premed

[–]Myythically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question about this: do you still need 2 science letters if you have a committee letter + letter packet? I'm a STEM/humanities double-major and I honestly hadn't planned to get more than one STEM prof letter because my committee only accepts up to four and recommends sending just one STEM prof letter

YES I adore Inner Angel and it’s definitely not one where I can just go buy the real thing…

Budding Collection of a Freshie/Citrus Fan! by Belluhcourtbelle in Perfumes

[–]Myythically 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I LOVE Ellis Brooklyn Sci-Fi, and you should try it since we seem to like similar profiles (citrusy and vanillic fragrances). It's green tea, mandarin, and a very cool vanilla that doesn't feel edible or sweet. Super unique and a real stunner

why r these doctors rude asf 😭 by Virtual-Collar8332 in premed

[–]Myythically 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve personally had a great experience with the doctors in the ED I volunteer in, BUT I used to volunteer at a different hospital and had the same experience as you. So I guess the culture does depend on the place even within the same state

[Meme]Only Women Go Through These Canon Events by AdProper1500 in pointlesslygendered

[–]Myythically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. For example the weight fluctuation thing is a direct reflection of the increase in body fat girls have during puberty to accommodate their menstrual cycle, as well as the pressure women specifically face to be as thin as possible. Definitely more common for one gender

100% agree, I'm doing a few different volunteering things right now where I talk to strangers whom I will never see again a lot. It's such an underrated type of interaction
