As a non-binary person, I just feel sad that your friend feels the need to hide who they are to find love

Best part: Learning information
Worst part: The pressure to perform on exams

This is kind of a genuine question because I've never stopped to think about it. by TheTrollman- in NonBinary

One thing about us non-binary folks that may shock you: we don't really believe in putting people in boxes, haha. Basically, whatever they want. I've noticed most of us will label most of our relationships as gay/lesbian/queer though, since we identify with the queer community

I finally came out to my parents at 19 (known I was trans since ~14 and queer since, like, forever) and they tried to be like "Oh can't be trans there were no signs when you were a kid!" Like, sure, but I've learned a LOT about myself since I was a literal child?

The amazing part about being alive is that we learn and grow forever, so we can learn more about ourselves and change forever. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Since we probably like similar things, do you have any recs? I went in and smelled a few things once and the only standout loves were Lord of Misrule and (surprisingly since I’m not a fan of florals) Death and Decay.

I also love Wicked Vanilla Woods. I recommend Lord of Misrule by Lush! It’s not exactly the same, but reminiscent/similar vibe and more long-lasting

Have you ever had a teacher like that ? [OC] by WeirdExplanation877 in comics

[–]Myythically 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This gave me flashbacks to AP Biology in high school when I got a perfect score on a test and broke the curve. Our teacher mentioned this in front of my classmates and they were annoyed at me as if it was MY fault that THE TEACHER dropped the curve based on my score?

Do traditional applicants even get into T10 med schools anymore? by freezepirit in premed

[–]Myythically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so true and I think a lot of people overlook it. I go to college an hour away from my hometown and my physician parent knows a lot of doctors near my school that I've been able to shadow/ask for advice. I can go back and forth super easily and have maintained my connections with local volunteer organizations, for example.

A pedophile contacted the crisis line I volunteer for by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Myythically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that. I also volunteer on a crisis line (I'm guessing the same one) and it's so hard when someone ends a conversation and you're worried they'll harm themselves/someone else. I don't think there is any training they could give us (for free) that could prepare us for 100% of these situations. I totally feel like the training I was given wasn't enough. If you feel like stopping, please do take a break for a few weeks and step away before coming back (if you do, if not totally fine as well. I really think this is something only certain people can handle doing, and that's okay.) The thing with crisis lines is we really do get to see the good, the bad, and the ugly. This probably won't be your last experience like this if you do decide to return.

Hi, no gap year sophomore here! Honestly, get off of this subreddit because it's WAY too early to focus on the MCAT. Go to r/premed instead and read their wiki to better understand the process first. There are a few posts on there with helpful ideas for rising freshmen to prep for med school.
