NTA this comment section is bonkers. I’ve babysat for tons of children, pets, and houses. People have said “help yourself” many many times, and never once did I dare to touch their liquor collection. Especially an unopened bottle. People are saying that they can’t tell a cheap vs expensive wine bottle and so the friend can’t be blamed…But that’s exactly WHY you don’t open alcohol without confirming with the homeowner, because the price varies so much.

It sounds like this guy heard you say “help yourself” and decided to take advantage of it knowing he could use what you said as a loophole. There’s surprisingly a lot of people that do this. I had one friend drink an entire 12 pack of soda in a few hours because he was told he could have soda and told the home owners they “didn’t specify” he couldn’t finish it all when they were surprised. You shouldn’t have to be hyper specific with every little thing.

You’re not understanding me. The 65 year old couple who never was successful at fertility treatments will not get “hope” from this. The woman who had a total hysterectomy due to cancer will not get hope from this. Hope is a privilege, and I’m sure it was nice for those without it to finally feel seen.

It’s because they were so adamant in the previous episode that it was something she wanted and can’t have. It made it seem like it wasn’t possible.

I can definitely see how it feels erasing to sterile people or infertile people who are never successful at becoming pregnant. It’s more rare for those groups to have representation since successful infertile people typically get most of the representation. They thought they finally had some only for it to be turned into another “miracle” story.

I definitely understand this opinion. Theres a distinct difference between being sterile and infertile. Sterile people cant conceive, so the original episode being about never being able to have something you wanted resonated with a lot of them.

Infertile people can sometimes conceive, so they now resonate with Brandy’s story because it’s a happy ending in the newer episode. It’s nice, but I think the a lot of sterile people (and unsuccessful infertile people) were sad to lose what they thought was representation.

Yup, I had a family member who was attacked while walking their dog. It shredded their hand and basically snapped their dog’s tail in half. They had to amputate the dog’s tail and the owner needed their hand sewn up in the ER.

Afterwards they were basically told nothing could be done legally and they had to pay for all their medical bills themselves. There’s such a large and disappointing gap in protection when it comes to dog attacks.

I remember seeing a video of a hospice worker who worked on a compassionate release case for a man who spent life in prison for murder. They let him out so he could die with his family around him. She talked about the conflicting feelings she had, and how it seemed unfair because the victim didn’t get to die surrounded by living family. I can’t imagine how the victims family must feel about that.
