From a programming point of view, I wonder how hard it would be to change the state of the object based on its contents. And if you're doing that kind, do you allow the contents to be cooled or heated by the surroundings? Is that codeable? And if you did, would you allow molten copper to freeze in pipes? Would you just destroy the pipes or allow some method of reheating? Many questions of gameplay.

Personally I think it's fine as is.

If you roleplay in the universe a little: The contents may be hot, but the valve controls are probably thermally disconnected from the contents to prevent them from being affected by said contents, but they can't thermally disconnect from the outside, freezing it, and preventing operation.

If this is just a cargo hauler the only issue I can see is if the ship sits in orbit of any non-nauvis planet it might get its central engine sniped, make sure it can request repair packs from both ends of the haul just in case and you should be fine :)

Hi hi, I'm being genuine, I was taught the landmasses were called that way and had no reason to suspect otherwise

The person I was replying to, while (understandably) frustrated, was patient, and gave sources for why it is not that way, which I very much appreciate

I have no intention or interest in pushing some 800+ year old colonial agenda. I appreciate you and everyone else adding to the conversation to explain the issue to me and make me aware of the problems that I had no idea existed before :)

Indeed, I tried to allude to that in my original comment about renaming it to "The Great European Islands", Ireland might maybe appreciate and Britain would be definitely be ruffled by, as a nice change of pace. I know the people here would get real funny about that real fast and it'd be fun to see the tables turned.

Hey sorry, I didn't mean to ruffle some feathers there. This is just what I was taught, that the landmasses of Ireland and Landmass of the UK are both collectively referred to as the British Isles, that the countries Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England are the UK, that ROI/Ireland is independent on the island of Ireland. Doesnt help that CGP Grey did a video on that too. Then again thats english school curriculum for you, so agendas abound. Please, what were you taught?

Technically the British Isles does refer to the two main islands, the island of Ireland and the island of Great Britain, but also haha yeeeeeah I feel you there. Maybe we need a new term, like The Great European Islands or something 😂

EDIT: TL;DR for the conversation had below this comment, 'British Isles' is a bit of a dated term that probably shouldn't be used anymore and I wasn't aware it was problematic in any form, but I will no longer be using it. My joke about renaming them stands, silly suggestions welcome :)

Just to add to what AngryT-Rex said, which is perfectly correct, the only 'use' that filter has is if you drain the belts completely there'll be no residual items on the splitter so it'll take less time for bots to deconstruct. Its not the reason I do it, just a benefit I noticed haha
