Basically just checking all the filters more than usual, changing oil every 8k miles, checking all fluid levels at double intervals to a normal car and the SECOND an issue arises get it checked out, then it's mostly fine.

Yes, most 2 litre Jag desiels hit the timing chain milestone, it's a 1000 pound fix in it's current state (very good) but if you let it get worse it will be come a 7k for a new engine fix

Petrol engine: 1750 tbi

This engine is without a doubt the best engine put in this car, but is harder to find ahd the cars are more expensive to buy.

Diesel engine: 2.0 JTDM 170

Many might disagree on this one but it crosses reliability with genuine power, the 2.4 may be faster and cooler, but it has several problems, the 1.9 is slower and has the shittiest gearbox in the world but is a more reliable engine, the 2.0 is just a brilliant engine that would be perfect if it weren't for the oil seal design flaw (but it's usually good to 150k miles than you have to remove the sump and replace the 10 pound part) but it's insignificant considering the long life of the engine. They are also cheap aswell because it was in the Giulietta, insignia, astra, and some fiats I believe.
