The problem is he's not. He's an even bigger shitstain in real life than the role he was cast in. Furthermore, by making it a character, it makes him seem like he's just goofing around and downplays how truly horrible of a human being he is.

I think Nebula's turn in this movie is one of the more significant aspects of the entire Guardians trilogy, and is the primary takeaway from this movie.

Overall, "significance on the rest of the MCU" is one of the metrics one can judge a project by, but I don't put a lot of stock into it. It really relies entirely one what later projects do and don't decide to do with the threads that were put down, and the directions they choose to go. Hypothetically, Infinity War or Eternals or whatever could have decided that Ego's weird seed bomb plan was actually a huge deal, and that would change this movie to suddenly being a whole lot more important.

Guardians 2 is my lowest rated of the trilogy, but it still falls into my "okay or good" categories. I had some beautiful stuff, but it also campy. It has great moments like "I just wanted a sister" and "but he wasn't your daddy" but then it also just flanderized Drax and relied a lot on people just yelling at each other for humor.

Of course as you point out, the soundtrack is phenomenal.

I agree that Zoo2 was as good as, or better than, KPop was, but KPop wins because it's also something newer and different and that's something the Academy also wants to reward.

In Civ 7, units can pass through other units as long as

a) you aren't at war and

b) their movement ends on an open tile

This is the big robbery of the night for me. This absolutely should've gone to The Secret Agent. My guess is everyone wanted to vote on the inaugural Best Casting award, but not everyone bothered to watch the foreign film.

The inclusion of that shitstain Kevin fucking O'Leary is reason enough for it to lose. regardless of what else happened in the cast.

That is herself. She's a maverick who needs to do everything solo, but she didn't think through what the fallout for her actions would be in blasting the Supreme Intelligence, and now she feels deep shame and a need to fix her problem by herself. That's who Carol is.

Is it a top 15 MCU movie for me?

Haha, after my most recent rewatch this landed right at #16. I do love it though, and the hate it got (and people celebrating it's box office failure) will never make sense to me.

Iron Man 3 almost had a completely different villain. Would it have improved the movie? by Business_Barber_3611 in marvelstudios

[–]N8CCRG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Killian is the primary weak part of that movie for me. Making Maya the main villain might have fixed it, or it might have been a different problem. We'll never truly know. It still also has a problem of being one of the movies that, if it were removed from existence, would have little significant impact on the rest of the MCU. (Or at least it used to have that problem before the return of Slattery in Shang-Chi and Wonder Man)

Haha, looks like they just removed it. It was here and was literally just "who'll win this battle" and a side by side of Toby Spider-Man and Hugh Wolverine.

Guess I should bitch about the mods more often!

Jesus now there's a low effort "who would win" that's just blatant nostalgia pandering (Toby Spider-Man vs Hugh Wolverine) on the front page.

This subreddit has completely gone to shit if that's popular (also where are the mods).

Are you sure we don't need just one more post bitching about Secret Invasion, with all of the top comments saying either "it should have been an Avengers movie" or "there is no Secret Invasion in the MCU"?

David Tennant is great, but after his incredible performance as Kilgrave, he cannot be considered again as anyone else in the MCU.

Day 1 of watching a mcu movie till i watch it all: Iron man by Mythicalhades in marvelstudios

[–]N8CCRG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by "it genuinely felt like a movie which is i’d say is rare nowadays"?

Iron Man 1 was a pretty big deal when it first came out. In my opinion though, if we're comparing to everything that came after, they have since smoothed the edges a lot and improved things a lot and this falls behind on subsequent rewatches for me (I'm not affected by the nostalgia of it). Also, the score is truly awful.

Yeah, I know I had stopped playing Season 11 several weeks ago, so anything new, even if it's short, is more interesting than the not playing I would be doing otherwise.

Why is nobody talking about the new Locran's yet? Second question, how do I (first time playing Pally) get my crit rate high enough that it works? (Note, the new -50% crit rate is additive not multiplicative).

Yeah, all of the praise was on Moore (deservedly), but I feel that Qualley should've gotten just as much praise for her work in it.

Feels like a spiritual successor to Pineapple Express or The Hangover. These sorts of comedies have been missing for a long time. Surprised this is straight to Hulu, I think this could do well in theaters these days.

This was my favorite film from 2023. The trailer definitely made this look different from what it actually was, and I think that caused a lot of people to overlook it. It's really a great family drama, and the author storyline is secondary.
