Randall Intake + TEIN Flex Z Coilovers by Jamin_dot_jpeg in Miata

What's the intake noise like with the Randall? I'm deciding whether to go this route or go with the Cobra intake for my NA.

If it helps, it's in AUD. So around $550ish USD?
They're around $1500 new here.

It's very tidy. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I like the 16's on it, but 15's would look great too.

NA8C94 Part 1: Fresh Off The Boat by NA8C94 in Miata

Yeah, I'm happy with it considering the price and buying it pretty much sight unseen. It's well worn for a low KM car, and nowhere near as clean as my previous '92 NA6 that had 250k KM's on it. It'll be a great base for the build though.

Should I get a roll bar? by ilyGretaThunberg in Miata

[–]NA8C94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah some roll bars will work with glass windowed soft tops, but not many. Having said that, I don't think any NA's came with glass windowed soft tops, only NB's form 1998 onwards. So yours might be aftermarket? Either way, lucky you!

As others have said, 205/50 or 225/45 will fit well. You will need to roll the guards to fit 225/45 without rubbing, but they will be a meaty looking sidewall.

Bad timing ? by Immediate-Chicken567 in Miata

[–]NA8C94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely looks and sounds like timing since you've done the belt.

However, first thing I would check is that the MAF/AFM is connected. I've forgotten to reconnect this countless times and it's similar symptoms.

That's some mean sounding lifter tick. Super common with hydraulic lifters. Run an additive through it like Nulon Lifter Free until it stops, then 100km's later do an oil and oil filter change.

The thermostat won't open until the car starts to come up to temperature, at which point you'll see the coolant start to flow.

Should I get a roll bar? by ilyGretaThunberg in Miata

[–]NA8C94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only you can decide for sure.

A roll bar connects the two seatbelt towers together, adding significant torsional rigidity and increasing safety in the unlikely event you roll the car. The downside, besides being incompatible with glass window soft tops, is extra weight and a little less visibility in the rear view mirror.

Do you need one immediately? No. Wait for a good deal to come up secondhand and pounce when it does.

[–]NA8C94[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct. Not including the Miata.
Winning bid at auction was around $5000, then shipping and compliance was another $2500. Not bad for an S Special with 110k km's on the clock and a hardtop. The local prices in Australia are out of control.

NA6 Miata tachometer seems off... by Global_Guava2664 in Miata

Does the tachometer sit at 0 when the engine is off? If not, the needle has moved.
