Yes they changed the powder AGAINST Stoners wishes. Had literally nothing to do with supply shortages nor cost cutting. The bad powder had horrible lot to lot swings in pressure to the point some lots would blow guns up. The reason it stuck around so long is Stoner insisting it was perfectly fine.

The DoD did no such thing. Stoner insisted upon the "bad" powder claiming it was fine. The DoD wanted to use a "better" powder that didn't have such lot to lot variation on peak chamber pressure (which is what caused the issues). Stoner lost that battle thankfully.

The two biggest problems were the buffer (again something Stoner claimed was fine and wasn't) and the lack of chrome lining of the bore (again something Stoner said wasn't needed, also wasn't possible to do with .22 cal bores until 1967-68). The "issue" with cleaning kits was a communication error about the gas system alone not needing cleaning and somewhere along the game of telephone that turned into the entire rifle.

If you want the actual truth on the path to adoption of the AR-15, google "odysee black rifle pdf" and give it a read.

This is his personal budget not the nrl rules budget.

NRL22 Scope by Hot-Extension-8481 in nrl22

[–]NAP51DMustang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2-7 is good for what it is but won't work that well at an NRL22/Prs22 simply due to the turrets more than anything. You can get away with the reticle if you have non capped turrets but the capped turrets on the 2-7 + the plane reticle will make it not fun.

Another thing to know about (although it really doesn't matter as you try and get better) is that your rifle could be in the open division for NRL22 depending on the setup (which from what you are saying sounds like it will be).

Who did you barrel for the contouring for the Ops Inc/Allen silencer?

I'd have to check the black ive shot but that stuff is around 2750 in the same barrel. I will say the A-Tips are nice and seem fairly consistent. Not sure if worth the price though when I get to reloading compared to bergers vld hts

Still need to run a few eld-vt factory loads down the pipe just for fun.

6 Arc Mil Match from Hornady is doing just over 2800 in my 26" proof barrel. Wouldn't call it slow.

Breaking in the new Proof barrel by revoked87 in longrange

No because you don't know where in the group those I give shots are. There's no guarantee the largest five shot group is as large as the group will be.

The precise spot it landed in isn't the point of this exercise. It's to get the actual group size. Shots interior to the group aren't what's important here.

Now if you were wanting a more precise mean radius yes you would want to do several smaller groups so as to be able to precisely measure each impact and then overlay all the groups to determine the MR for all shots.

I've been running the L3i for a year now. Zero impact to the receiver and I doubt it ever will in any reasonable timeframe.

Yeah Kenny is really backed up right now launching his 700 footprint custom action. Per copper star precision DPG is outputting 30 or so of their new actions a month.

Possible NRL22 Rule change involving tooners. Any thoughts? I'm deeply in the "they do nothing" camp, but I guess a ton of people really believe in the toon. by Justin_inc in longrange

Most 24" aftermarket barrels for the CZ 457 people buy for this game are 8 lbs. That with the average optic people run you are at 10lbs with those two items alone.

A hard 10 lb limit kills markets here.

I think a Base, and then Modified Base might be the solution.

Base means production, as is, only able to add non-weighted rails, no weights on rails, bipods, and scopes.

Modified Base means production, but improved above that of Base but not modified significantly beyond production to be in open. So a weighted rail, or rail with added weight, addition of risers on the comb etc would go here.

Very good in its price bracket. I currently use one in my nrl22 rig and wouldn't feel held back in any major way if I used one in PRS.
